Playdate for Raven & Kore Posting for tooaya and myself~
It was still within the first few days of Summer, and wasn't too unbearably hot for a picnic. Kore had asked Ki so nicely, and truly, the Guardian could not tell the enigmatic winged girl no. Thus, the young woman found herself strolling down the road towards the local park, watching her charge skip and sing sweet hellos to each person they passed. The dark-haired woman was still quite taken with her flower child, watching her in wonder whenever Kore was off and about doing her own thing.
Which was actually quite often. Kore turned her intense blue eyes to the sky, smiling up at the puffs of clouds and the birds that wheeled overhead. It was only when she heard voices near by that she realized they were near the park, filling her with genuine glee; she did so adore the park, although she couldn't pinpoint a defined reason why. There were many things she liked about it, from the plants to the animals, to which she would speak to and sing wordlessly to while Ki observed from a distance.
"Don't go too far," she advised the sweet natured girl, who gave a short nod and smile to the woman before moving towards one of the great willows. Ki smiled as Kore went about greeting the willow and singing to it like an old friend, setting up the picnic beneath an ancient oak not that far from where the child was.
Kore sat upon one of the great gnarled roots, smoothing her dress and smiling up at the weeping bows. Her fingers trailed over the wood with familiarity, singing her wordless song to the tree, a quiet and soft tune that carried sweetly over the small lake that the willow presided over.

"I want to go out with you."
Raven said with an expressionless face, which sort of creeped Rie out despite how much she thought that she was used to it.
"No, way." Rie snorted, her hand tugging with Kirin's. Kirin, the meek girl, was obviously confused with Raven's sudden appearance. She smiled a little at the strange looking little boy, then turned up at Rie. "Your little brother?"
"No, uh...yes, in a way." Rie rolled her eyes. Does Raven look like her relative? The kid had horns and tails for goodness sake! "Come on, let's go." She tugged at Kirin's hand again, trying to distract her mind away from Raven.
"Oh, but we can take him. It's not nice to leave your little brother at home all by himself, Rie...."
"And I beat all the video games, too." Raven added, holding his arms and sighed.
"Oh shut up." The dark skinned girl replied with a degree of annoyance. She didn't want, however, to upset Kirin (oh the horror it might bring if the girl gets upset...). Rie rolled her eyes again and shrugged. "Okay fine, if Kirin says so...you can come, just stay put and HIDE your tail, okay?"
"Okay." Raven replied calmly. "And pretend that I'm a complete stranger. I understand."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rie expected Kirin's top choice to be the park. She didn't dislike the place, but it bored her. If it wasn't because of the shy Chinese girl the park would surely be her last choice to go. The girl turned away, trying to hide her yawning face from Kirin, but found herself being stared at by Raven.
"You look bored." Raven said.
Which was, no doubt, an obviously and blatantly correct comment.
And loud too.
"You do look bored, Rie." Having heard Raven's comment, Kirin turned to stare at Rie also. "I'm sorry, I knew this was a bad choice..."
"OH NONONO." Rie laughed nervously, secretly cursing the black haired little devil that was simply too blunt for her liking. "I was..uh...it's just that it's kind of warm here, so I was thinking maybe we should get ice-cream!"
"I don't like ice-cr---"
"I think that's a wonderful idea!" Kirin smiled brightly, cutting Raven's yet another blunt comment short. "What kind of ice cream would you like, Raven?"
"I don't like---"
"Oh he doesn't like ice cream." It was Rie who cut off Raven's comment this time. "You can wait here, and Kirin and I'll go get some, alright?"
"Okay." Not disturbed by not able to finish his sentences, Raven nodded, and walked to a nearby bench to sit himself down. His tail popped out from behind because the boy found it uncomfortable to sit on.
"Hide that tail." Rie scrowled, taking Kirin's hand. "We'll be back in a couple of minutes, see you later!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple of minutes meant two minutes right?
Raven looked down at his watch. It had been four minutes already.
They must be lost.
Convinced himself of this fact, Raven jumped off from the bench, not caring about his thick tail waving back and forth.
Maybe someone saw Rie and Kirin. I will just have to ask around.
Raven looked around. It didn't take him long to find the first person to approach. The boy walked toward a woman nearby who was just about to spread out a piece of cloth in preparation for a picnic.
"Hey, have you seen a woman with brown hair and blue eyes?"

Ki was startled from her picnic preperations by a young boy, who seemed to have appeared just as she spread out the cloth. She blinked at him owlishly with her grey eyes, trying to think of what he asked. Brown hair and blue eyes? Her first thought was Kore, but he did say a 'woman,' after all. "No," she said at length, glancing around as if she might spot her. "I just got here myself."
It was about the time she said that, that the woman realized the boy was unusual. He had...horns? And was that a tail? If not for her daughter, Ki would have likely had a small panic attack at the sight. Could it be possible that the boy was similar...? No, of course not. The boy didn't look anything like a flower. Putting the cooler down with the food, Ki hooked her thumbs into her pockets, tilting her head to the side. "Would you like some help finding her?" she asked, her hair falling over her shoulder. "The only one I know matching your description is my daughter." Glancing behind the boy, she jut her chin out to indicate who she was speaking of.
Kore had returned from the willow (greetings never took long), intending to help set up the picnic when she spotted a tail. It didn't matter that it was attached to someone, for the girl was quite easily intruiged. As such, she was standing behind Raven when Ki indicated her, wide blue eyes turning up to observe the boy's horns. A small hand lifted to touch her own antlers, as if to compare the two, her pure white wings fluttering a little in her awe. She regarded the boy with open curiosity, her smile sweet despite her distraction.

Raven nodded, gladly accepting Ki's offer to help. Then he turned around swiftly to spot the girl standing behind him. If Raven was surprised by Kore's presence, the boy showed no expression indicating so. It didn't take him long to look between the two women and decide that neither were the person he was looking for.
"This is not her." Raven said shortly, pointing at Kore. "She's too short. The one I'm looking for is very tall, and she's with another dark haired girl." The boy's tail wavered around, seeming to show more emotion than his face.

"Considering she's brown haired with blue eyes and I'm dark haired, you might want to give us a few more discerning features," Ki replied with a hint of playfulness. Even if her hair was black, there was the obvious flaw of her white bangs. Smiling with good humor, she nodded, drawing the blanket back up to put on the cooler so she could walk with the young man.
The girl was delighted. He'd looked at her, and he had such pretty eyes! He even had a neat marking over one of those crimson orbs! Kore was inanely pleased with herself for this small attention, clasping her hands by her collar bone with a wide, beaming smile. Her bright blues shifted towards the motion of Raven's tail, entranced; it seemed to be waving to her no differently than everyone else had with their hands. Extending one of her own small hands, she gently took the tail between her fingers, making a soft sound of delight at how it felt.
Ki finished and looked back to the boy, extending her free hand. "I'm Ki. That's--Kore!" she squeaked in embarrassment as she saw the young girl holding the boy's tail. Awkward! "I...am sorry, she's...very curious," she explained a little lamely.

The tail wiggled vainly in Kore's hand, as if it was trying to break free. Raven tugged at his tail gently and merely said, "don't pull on it." The boy the turned to Ki and shook his head, "I don't mind, someone tried to pull it off before, and it really really hurt." Raven said with a rather painful tone, despite the fact that his face remained calm. He turned and looked around, then looked back at Ki. "She has no wings nor tree branches growing out of her head, and she's not old enough to have white hair. Is that more specific?"

Retracting her hand, Ki simply smiled, shaking her head. "You've already told us we're not the ones, so what do they look like?" She let the 'old' comment go. It wasn't the first time someone had said it and it certainly wouldn't be the last. Looking over to Kore, she frowned a little. "Honey, let him go."
She was very gentle, so that if the boy did want his tail back, a tug would do the trick. At his own tug, the tail slipped from her slender fingers, crossing her hands over her stomach as she watched the two speak. Her bright eyes moved over and around the park, biting her lip softly. There were a lot of brown haired and black haired people. They weren't close enough she could see eye color, but she was pretty sure the lone people spotted around the park weren't who the boy was looking for. Kore started to wander off a little ways, wings fluttering in apprehension.
Content, Ki looked back to Raven. "Do you know where they went?"

"They went to get ice cream." Raven said simply. "And they went that way." The boy raised his hand to point in the direction where a lot of people seemed to be gathering. "She said she will be back in two minutes, but I have waited for 4." As if he wanted to explain it to Ki better, the boy fiddled around with his fingers. He then glanced down at his watch, "and now it's been over 8 minutes." He shrugged, shaking his head.
"I'm not supposed to know her." Raven scratched his head, "Rie thinks I'm weird, so she pretends she doesn't know me and tells me to pretend that I don't know her in public. So I can't tell you other things because I'm not supposed to know."

The woman blinked at Raven, unable to tell if he was serious or not. Was he for real? Did anyone take anything so literally, and so...seriously? Ki smiled tightly, looking towards the indicated direction, refraining from sighing. Turning back to the boy, she offered, "They look really busy up there. I'm sure they're just waiting in line. Kore," her grey eyes shifted to her charge, "don't wander please."
Pristine wings trembled as the girl turned, tapping her lips with a nod. Kore returned to Ki's side, although her bright eyes were off in the distance towards the group of people. She looked uncomfortable at the idea of going up there.
Laying a hand on her daughter's shoulder, she smiled at the boy. "Why don't you stay with us for a bit. You can see the people there and wont be out of sight. I'm sure the two you're looking for are just held up because the ice cream place is busy."
Kore made a relieved noise, moving over to Raven and taking his hand. She smiled sweetly at him, hoping he'd stay. She didn't get to interact with other children that much, and she liked the way this one looked. Her pleasure made her wings beat very slowly, stirring her chestnut hair around her smiling cheeks.
Ki quirked a surprised smile. "Looks like Kore would like you to stay with us a bit too. Of course, if you'd rather not, that's fine. We'll keep an eye out for you and your people."

"I'll stay." Raven nodded, giving Kore's hand a little squeeze. The boy sat down near the blanket, but not on it, and looked up at Kore.
"Your name is Kore? I'm Raven. And what's your name?" He turned to Ki, face remaining exressionless. His tail extended to the front as if it wanted to shake Ki's hand.

Kore continued to smile, kneeling next to him, keeping his hand with hers and resting it against her dress-clad leg. Her eyes turned over his horns, his hair, his eyes; he was very pretty to her. Not like the park was pretty, but in a different way that she didn't understand. It didn't bother her. Lifting her free hand, she touched his hair, stating in her quiet and musical voice, "Raven..."
The woman kneeled on the blanket, thinking to tell them to sit on it as well but opting against it. They were just children, after all. She was laying out the food - sandwiches of lunch meat, a few bags of chips, salads of the leafy and potato variety, fresh vegetables and cut fruit - and wasn't paying much attention to what the two were doing. "My name is Ki," she introduced herself again, smiling that she had to at all. He was a cute kid, despite his unyielding expression.
She paused while setting out the cooler with the drinks, her eyes shifting over to Kore as the girl spoke. It wasn't that her daughter hadn't ever talked before, but her words did seem far and few inbetween. Ki smiled a little to herself; Kore never ceased to amaze her.
The girl smiled brightly. "I like your name...Raven." She fell silent again, although her expression was lit with peace and contentment at his nearness. He was pleasant to have around, and that was good enough for her.

"Raven suits me, but Rie says it's creepy." The boy shrugged. "I'm glad you like it." His tone was cheerful, but his face remained solid. "I thought you were mute, guess I was wrong." Kore's name and her appearance did not seem to have an effect on the boy. If it did, Raven chose not to show. Instead, he observed quietly at the surroundings, between Kore and Ki. He had a mild curiousity at what the older woman was doing, and the boy paid much interest to her actions instead of the items being taken out and placed onto the blanket.
"Are you preparing some kind of feast, here out on the grass?" Raven eventually asked, unable to contain his curiosity. "Do I need to do anything?"

Ki finally set out the drinks, settling back on her haunches to regard Raven. "Hmm?" It took her a moment to realize she was being spoken to. "Yeah, it's...you know what a picnic is?" There was no cruelty or laughter in her voice, just a genuine curiosity. She'd encountered similar confusions with Kore, although hers were more obvious. "We'll eat outside since it's nice out, you're welcome to join us if you're hungry." She paused, then added, "You're allowed to sit on the blanket, that's what it's here for."
The girl didn't mind that Raven's attention turned elsewhere, folding her wings neatly against her back as she smiled brightly at Ki, giggling at the mute comment. He was letting her hold his hand for the time being, and that was most satisfying to her. As the fruit was laid out, her eyes became impossibly wide, gleeful at the sight of her favorite snack. Kore wasn't much for meat, but she did eat it in small doses, such as the sandwich; she preferred the raw fruits and veggies over anything substantial.
Pointing to a few items, Ki continued, "Take your pick, Raven! We have fresh produce and dip if you want, or chips if you're more inclined towards crispy and salty. Sandwiches, chicken mostly, salads and some fruit drinks." She tilted her head, watching the two children; they seemed so comfortably awkward, she couldn't help but grin.

"No," Raven sighed, "I don't eat outside, so I don't know what a pik-nik is. Do you play games during a pik-nik too? Rie and I always play games, to see who can get the food in their mouth first before the other gets it." The boy looked down and observed the fruits laid out on the blanket, "but I think there's plenty of food for all..."
Raven paused and looked up, trying to see if his guardian was back. After not seeing Rei in sight, the boy grabbed the nearest food to him---a bag of potato chip---and poped the bag open. "I think I'll eat this one, what would you like to eat?"

The woman took a watermelon wedge, shrugging a little at the question. "You can do whatever you want during a picnic. Play games, read books, nap...you just do it while enjoying the outdoors." Ki took a bite of her fruit, trying to hide her smile. "We wont steal your food, Raven. You can enjoy those chips and we aren't gonna gobble it out of your hands."
Kore didn't know if Raven was talking to her, but she was more than happy to select a bright red strawberry and hold it up to show what she'd be eating first. She had released his hand once he went for the chips, and grasped the sweet fruit between her fingers, nibbling on it in a pleased and dainty manner.
"Kore doesn't eat much," Ki said after a moment, grabbing a napkin. "So there's plenty here if you're hungry."
