Lately i've been having trouble writing songs. It used to be that I would sit down and after about two hours I would have a song made... well, the outline of the song. Now it just seems I can't make anything good at all! I'll sit down, jam, and then get frustrated... I haven't really had any songs I want to make stuck in my head... that sucks...
any advice on getting my inspiration back or just writing songs when you're having a dry spurt?

The only advice I can really give you for finding inspiration would be, rather then just trying to write what's in your head, try listening to more music, and use that to help get a direction and influence the sound you're trying to make.

Inspiration. I can't just sit down and pop out a song in my head, unless a Riff, so I make em up when I'm like, in a store, or in a car just looking out the window.

When I write, I hear full orchestrations in my head. It can kinda get annoying to the guys in the band sometimes because I dictate their parts, but it makes the song come out "right." And after all, I think I can dictate what is right since it is MY song, lol.
Usually I start with a concept. Find a topic or idea you would like to write about and go online and research it some and see what comes to your mind.

sweet mary jane I hate to say it but there id NO inspiration in Death metal. Speed metal yeah, but not death. (My opinion don't get mad) There's inspiration for a part but not really inspiration for a song. I could hear something and get inspired to write a song like that and it happens.

Insperation is everywhere, everything and everyone. It's the most personally impersonal subject in life (or one of). Insperation is all down to perspective. It's a feeling, a groove, a beat, a movement, a sight, a sound, a thought...
Little on the deeper side but my point is that listening to music you don't like aswell as what you do may inspire you. If you draw try drawing something. If you don't, still try it. If there's a particular emotion, play it. Visualise, walk, run, play, fight, cry, whatever. It's not just music that inspires... it's LIFE.
Part of the reason might be simply your trying oo hard... go and DO something... something to inspire you.

any advice on getting my inspiration back or just writing songs when you're having a dry spurt? Hey Guys. I'd say that you need to choose something thats going on in your life for inspiration. Just draw off youre emotions, becuase half of the sound is the feeling it acheives. Dont force it, just let it flow. Id also suggest you bring a notebook with you at all times. That way, if youre in the car, or a store or such, you'll be able to write down your ideas. Don't be afraid to ask your friends for help. Maybe they have something going on that might inspire you. Or maybe they have some ideas, and may be able to share them with you, so you can turn them into great lyrics. If you have any other song writing questions, P/m me. That goes for anyone reading this.

i say write about personal experiences, that's what i do, or u can do what bands like Iron Maiden do which is take something from history, research the subject, and write a song about it like their song the trooper, which was about the Battle of the Light Brigade, or aces high which was about WWII, which is obvious thanks to the Churchill Speech they udse for the intro to it in the video and when they play it live but that's jjust my opinion, do what feels right to you

if your gonna write about something that has happened to you that made you sad or mad or whatever then wait till your not still said or mad about it cause when you still are it can be really hard to think of anything to write cause you get too caught up in whatever your problem is

i write by riff. I make little riffs then change them around to make a melody. As for inspiration i try to see what the music would go to.. for instance if it sounds irish i might go for a celtic battle or a celtic march kind of theme. It comes much easier then for me at least.

For inspiration, listen to a variety of music, and really think about the patterns your hearing. I just don't have the drive to write a song, I can't find a band.
