Alright everyone, lets get started. *Ahem* As many of you know, I have had alot of bad expirences with people (mostly men) and from those expirences I have come little lets see, hmm I think the proper word is "paranoid" of my surroundings... Well, ive been doing some thinking, and something that might make me feel better is alittle protection. And no, I am not talking about a glow in the dark condom, you sex addicts look away, for the thing I am talking about is a Switch Blade... Yeah, I know what some of you are thinking "Violence isnt the answer!! Blah blah blah" yeah, you know what, ******** that. =) I have come up with a few that I like and seeing that my birthday is coming up soon, I know my stepfather wont have a problem getting one for me. I really dont have a price range, like the most I would hope to spend is about $250. Here are some I came up with, you'll get a feeling of what I like so feel free to post me some links/pics to some knives you see that I might like. =) Heres what I got:

And beleive me, if I could carry a Desert Eagel to school, I would. =) And I would "pop thoz bichaz!". xD

Well, my favorites have always been butterfly knives. Once you get the trick of opening them, they're damn nifty. Too bad they're illegal.

While I'm no proponent of violence, I will say that violence breeds violence. If you have a weapon, you'll be more likely to use it.

"Better to have one and not need it, then need it and not have one." Ive been in many ify situations before and never had any protection... Now with all these scary dirty mexicans (not to put mexicans down or anything, I just mean the bad ones) goin around my school now... I get scared of being picked up... Almost happened before... You know those kind of men who undress you with thyre eyes... It scares me alot, I cant even feel safe at school... =(

I would recommend taking a martial arts class if you are wanting protection. Knives are good and all that for walking out in the woods fending off cougar and the like however becasue there are many public settings where wepons are not allowed, or where you muct havea special permit to carry them, other options are always good to look at. Besides a wepon can be taken from you. You're body cant'. Just my view. I have no true practicel experience with either knives or martial arts so feel free to treat my advice as you will.

Well, as long as you don't yell "chinga tu madre" to the cholos, you should be fine. You can always flash the universal Mexican hand signal.

I somewhat disagree with your philosophy. I'd rather just not be in a place that required me to carry a weapon. Of course, that's my personal preference, but hey, if you feel you need heat, then feel free to pack.

Unless you are trained on how to fight with a knife it is much more likely that it will be taken away from you and used against you. If it is legal in you state a can of mace would probably be a better idea.

And if you are dead set on a knife, get someoen to train you with it (my friends carry knives aroudn all voer the place and my best friend taught me how to use it, he learned from his uncle etc etc, get someone reliable) And go fora smalelr blade, I'm thinking 5 or 6. Easier to conceal and get out fast, ahrder for someoen totake from you. Keep in mind it IS ILLEGAL to carry a concealed weapon.

Well, I have taken martial arts for alittle more than half of my life... The thing is, no matter how much you know, when your in a fight, your not really going to go through complex moves to take someone down. Its easier to grab a knife and stab someone in the throat. =)

If I were you, I think I would try something a little simpler. Like pepper spray or mace?

I would reccommend a non-lethal weapon. A taser or stun gun (look into laws, you may have to register it or somthing) or some good ol' mace. A knife, I think, is just a wee-bit to lethal for me.

Knives, guns and the like scare me too much. It's just way too easy for the other person to turn them against you. Pepper spray though... you could whip that puppy out and the guy wouldn't even know what hit him.

Hiden Weapon Factor with the cops might be an issue, I suggest, Mace and Pepper spray. Personally I carry an extra set of Car keys that Have been sharpened to the point that they look like customer knives, and a break away baton that I keep in my back pocket. and the Break away is perfectly legal And for women lets no under estimate the power of a brick in the bottom of the handbag. Think of it a nice Ball and chain action and it will make it harder to run away with. Also a mugger might think twice if he notices the brick, so you even got the pycho factor.

Would it be wiser to invest in some mace or something? That way you aren't actually hurting the person trying to attack you in any form, just making it hard for them to see so you can kick em and run. A women's self defense class is also a great way of freaking out an attacker, you could pull some kind of psychotic move and stun them.

Sam, I don't like the idea of you carrying a knife.

this is true and if you have a weapon like a knife or a gun you have to think about the fact that it could be turrned aginst you. Also you may want to look into local laws regarding weapons as I can legally buy and carry a butterfly knife but a stelleto (Cousin of a switchblade)on the other hand I cannot have, and there is mutch debate on the issue of switchblades here. I would reccomend something like a taser or mace though.as if you accidently use this on someone you think is a danger to you they have higher chances of living.
