You know how on those cheesy interview shows and game shows, the host almost always asks: "So what would your dream date be?" Well, this is sort of like that. I thought it might be a nice way to get guild members to share more about themselves and their tastes in lolita. I posted this in another guild and had a fair amount of success!

So here's how it works, you just answer the question however you feel appropriate:

What's your ideal lolita outing?

You can make up anything you'd like, it's meant to be a fantasy. Go out for tea with Kana, booze it up with Mana, spend some time talking books over coffee with Novala, go to a cake shop with your best friend, or hold a giant lolita bash with everyone you can possibly find. There's no budget, no limitations but your imagination. Wear your dream dress, shoes, outfit. Have your hair perfectly curled, straightened or done up.

If you want to, you can even provide pictures of your ideal venue and attire [please link to these, though, so there isn't a flood of images, and please don't hotlink from sites that don't belong to you].

Other than that, go wild!

Alright, since I started this thread, might as well contribute, right? ;3

My ideal lolita outing is a weekend trip to the beach. I love sailor lolita, so I'd have to have a sailor-collared dress to wear for the event, probably either my pink or blue pleated-skirt JSK from AatP [I have the same one in two colors, so sue me x_x; no photos of the blue one, it's in a warehouse waiting shipment still, haha]. For the second day, an outfit with a sailor-collared cutsew or blouse and a pair of either knee-length trousers or cute bloomers.

The weekend would be a mixture of beach strolling, picking up shells and playing in the shallows, and time spent on the strand eating ice cream or stopping in on a burger place for lunch. And, since this is a dream, no one would spill anything on their clothes, no one would get sunburned, and everyone's hair would still look great even after all the wind and surf it would get put through.

We'd end our days with cocktails and margaritas on the patio of a Tex Mex restaurant on the shore. We'd relax and chat over dinner and drinks before heading home to our little on-the-shore rented house to do it all again the next day.

Hooray sap!

In reality, the outing that I'm planning for the end of this summer is going to take place at the St. Louis Zoo. I'm really hoping to get everyone into it and having fun, complete with a picnic and a trip to a cupcake bar at the end. Hopefully it works out and will be a total blast!

Jack Daniels drinking games with Mana

I would be perfectly happy with an evening out to a fancy dinner and to the Opera or the Ballet.

This November, Austin Lyric Opera is putting on Cinderella, and I'd love to go out with a group of girls.. Start out the afternoon with Afternoon Tea at The Four Seasons. Walk around downtown for pictures in front of the fancy architecture-- possibly head down to Zilker Park for more pictures in the rose garden. Settle down for a more formal meal somewhere, and head off to The Long Center for the performance.
Or, next spring, getting together for Zilker's Kite Festival.

Or the whole Lolita Flash Mob thing. XD That would be perfect.
Especially if musicals were somehow involved-- Rent's La Vie Boheme. Rocky Horror's Time Warp (PLEASEOMG)...
Boystyle version of Spring Awakening's "The b***h of Living" or Boystyle version of anything from Newsies. wink

Dude. The flash mob thing, I totally pictured either everyone singing in black and white a la My Fair Lady, or ... Newsies.

One lone boystyle-er walking into the area and ...

Oooopen the gates and SEIZE the daaaay!
Don't be afraid and doooon't delaaaay!
Nothing can brake us!
No one can make us!
Give our rights awaaaaaay
A--rise and seize the ... day!

AND THEN OUT OF NOWHERE the lolitas and other boystyle-ers [should I just say kodona/dandies at this point?] bust in to join in. People would be so confused and it would be so awesome! Plus, that song isn't particularly difficult in terms of vocal manipulation, so I think even those who can't sing for beans [read: me] would feel comfortable joining in.

... auuuuugh. We should totally suggest that, now. I bet there are a bunch of other Newsie fans on EGL, given that there are a lot of girls our age and it was popular with our age group.

That is EXACTLY what I pictured! XD

Edit: Thinking WAY ahead, I could also see something similar happening at the spring Kite Festival. One lone Lolita starting off "Let's Go Fly a Kite"

With tuppence for paper and strings~
You can have your own set of wings~
With your feet on the ground~
You're a bird in a flight~
With your fist holding tight~
To the string of your kite~

And everyone else rushing in out of nowhere with their kites for "Oh, oh ohhh~ Let's go fly a kite!" and finishing out the song together.

Of course, it could also work in any random park even without a kite festival. XD

... we should try and get some of the Texas girls together to do this. I know they've all been talking for ages about a state-wide meet-up the way that the NYC/Tristate lolitas do theirs. It'd be a real blast. The question is where would we have it? They always argue over which city has the best venues, which has the cheapest hotels, blahblahblahblah. On and on.

Hmmm. I know AccelaGirl is in Dallas; I wonder how many of the other girls would be willing to bend and compromise and actually organize this thing somewhere? I'm almost inclined to vote we do it in Austin, what with it being the state capitol and such.

I'd vote for Austin because it's in the capitol, it's a decent point between Houston and Dallas... and I wouldn't have to go anywhere. 8D

Especially if it was around here, I'd be more than happy to help put it all together. Set it up around one of the weekends for a show with Austin Lyric Opera or Ballet Austin. Let that take up one of the days and spend the rest of the time with other outings like to the parks, to various tea houses, and so on, and plan a mob flash or two, with one night reserved to go out for Kareoke, or even a sleepover and movie night.

Mmm - what a fun thread idea this is! Not only for posting in but for reading what others wrote up as well!

I'd want a night at a castle - one of those really decorated (antique candleholders, statues, lots and lots of paintings) ones. Sort of like a sleepover, but less of the sleeping and more of just exploring the corridors at night. And then we could have tea in the huge castle library in front of a fireplace. Storytelling could also take place in connection to this.

There would of course be photoshoots, and everyone would look great in the pictures. Accidentally awkward expressions or poses would be nonexistant.

I don't have the outfit I'd want to wear yet, but it'd be an OP. Dark red, cream white and with gold details and/or printing on the red fabric.

Hee. I need to save this down for the day that I come across the option of renting a castle for a night. xD

My ideal meetup would be...
Around five or six lolita getting together and having tea in the evening, and then watching Kamikaze Girls or whatever until midnight.
Then we go to Rocky Horror Picture Show.
After that we would sleep-over at the nearest lolita's house. [Up until here, my friend Lauren and I are actually planning on doing, hopefully sometime soon.]
Then we wake up and go have a picnic under a big apple tree or something and play badminton and take a gazillion pictures.
The end.

Oh wow....this is hard. I wish egl had more discussion posts like these.

I think that I would like to have a small group of lolita friends that I talk to online to meet up in real life. And meet up in Paris to visit the Baby store and wreak havoc (figuratively speaking) all over the city of lights. I would't just have us stay there for a day. You can't see Paris in one day. We'll stay for a week or two. Since we're staying in Paris, we just have to stay at their exclusive hotels (hey, even a hostile would be alright). It would be fun to play hide and seek in one of their museums or the hotel we're staying in (or both! And in frilly skirts xDD). We'd go around the city at the day shopping, site seeing, and making fun of naked statues. At night, more site seeing, clubbing, or whatever there is to do at night.

Imogen Heap would be performing there too. I really want to meet and take photos with her. I think she'd make a great Lolita, since she does wear crazy clothes (check out her picture from the music awards).

Hmm... A Lolita tea party-picnic in Central Park (because I'm a New Yawkahh like 'dat) with a few of my close-knit friends and my online friend Tera/Crysta followed by a Phantom of the Opera Broadway show with either third-row (first row is TOO c lose, icky!) or box seats. Of course, the day will be sprinkled with shopping in Kinokuniya and other assorted stores, and getting our portraits drawn from the many street-artists. And then a nice night in a fancy hotel for all of us to go watch Bara no Konrei or Howl's Moving Castle or Beauty and the Beast or some other totally awesome Lolita-esque / J movie.<3

Hmmm... My ideal Lolita outing.
First it would have to be early spring and I would invite several Loli friends to my country property (It's near San Marcos, Tx) for a small afternoon picnic. We'd lay out a large picnic blanket out in the middle of my favorite field. We'd all sit and gossip about one-thing or another. We'd probably go out to the town square and look at all the shops after our picnic. Then for dinner we'd go to a cute little cafe.

BTW What's this about a Texas Lolita get together? Sounds like a wonderful plan!

It's been in the works/rumor mill for years. All of us would love to get together, but there's constant argument of where we should meet. The Austin lolitas want it in Austin, the Dallas lolitas want it in Dallas and the San Antonio lolitas want it in San Antonio. Those of us in Houston don't really give a damn where it happens so long as it happens, since we generally have enough issues gathering ourselves together down here, never mind anywhere else. <_<;

How about a rotation? The first gathering in one city then it rotates, or depending on the events people what to go to.

That only works if they agree where to start the rotation. XD
Plus, multiple meet-ups of the size that we're talking about would get pretty expensive pretty fast, especially with the cost of travel.
