Ah, Sarah's field of preference: Mammals. She'd been asked to teach a class to two of the teenage girls who both happened to have mammal DNA. It should be a walk in the park! Sarah had pulled up some info about the two animals in question and had made some sheets to draw information off of. All she had to do now was wait for the two girls to show up.

Alaqua glanced up at the room numbers as she walked down the hallway. "Here it is, Bob!" She glanced back at the brass dragon, glad that the hallways were nice and big at D-corp, made for the dragons. The girl opened the door for the dragon and peered in. She was told she was here to learn biology. What exactly that entailed, she wasn't sure. But, it wasn't a battle class, at least...
She found a seat and glanced at the woman. She hadn't seen this lady around before. But, that didn't really mean anything. There were a lot of people who worked here... mostly techs, but Ala didn't pretend to know everyone.

Sarah had began to wonder if either of her students were going to show up when finally the door opened. "You're late." She told the girl who entered and waited for a bit longer. "But, I suppose your classmate's going to be even later, so we might as well get started without her."
The woman gave a sigh and pulled a chair closer to the girl. There was an empty desk next to Ala and Sarah felt that this class should be something a little less formal than most classes. After all, they were talking about some rather... interesting things.
"Today, we're talking about mammals, especially female mammals. Mammals include a lot of various animals, including koalas and..." she gestured towards the empty chair, "all sorts of cats. Also included are dogs, humans, and most everything else with fur."
"Now, you're actually a special type of mammal, called a marsupial. We'll talk a bit more about that later, when we get to reproduction."
"Before I start, got any questions on what we'll be covering?"

Ala blushed at the teacher's abrupt comment about being late. "Sorry..." She glanced over at the empty seat next to her, curious as to who was supposed to be sitting there. The girl had tuned out a bit until the teacher said something that got her attention. "Wait, what? Reproduction...? You mean, like..." The girl glanced around and then whispered "sex?". Straightening back up, she shrugged. "My mom told me about that a long time ago."
The girl started to get up. "If that's all this is about, there's no point in me being here..."

Sarah nodded. "Reproduction includes sex, yes, but there's more to it." She glared at the girl as she stood up. "SIT!" She slapped her hand on the desk. "Just because you've heard about sex doesn't mean you get to skip this class. There's some things that will be different. Plus, reproduction is not the only thing we'll be talking about."
The woman leaned back in her chair. "For example, mammals are warm blooded creatures who have a spinal column. They have fur of some sort, though with humans it's more of hair than fur. Mammals have sweat glands and a gland specialized for milk production."
"Mammals also give birth to live young, though there are a few very rare exceptions to that..." Sarah glanced at the girl. "While marsupials are not one of those exceptions, they do have a rather unique form of reproduction. Ever wonder what the pouch is for?"

Alaqua scowled and sat back down and stared at the woman before she was asked a question. "I dunno... storage?" It had worked rather nicely in one of her previous classes... It wasn't very large, but it did hold things, at least.

Sarah gave a smile. "In a way, I suppose... But koala babies, which are called joeys, make a huge journey when they're only an inch or so long. They travel to the mother's pouch, where they attach to a teat, or n****e, and stay there to grow until they're big enough to adventure out. When they make this journey, they're blind and furless. They continue to live in the pouch for a while until they get too big."
The woman leaned back in her seat. "Koalas are herbivores, which means they eat plants only. Specifically, the koala eats only the leaves of the eucalyptus tree. Their metabolism is very slow and they spend most of their day sleeping."

"So... that'd be why I don't like meat much?" The koala girl asked, pondering over what the teacher had said. "And it's made to hold babies? Wow. If..." The girl suddenly felt a bit embarrassed about the next question. "If I had a baby... would it be in my pouch? Or in my stomach like human babies?"

Sarah sat back and pondered on her student's questions. "I believe that your animal DNA could contribute to your preference of foods. Of course, your human side would not be able to survive on eucalyptus leaves alone, for they do not provide much energy. But it could lead to a preference for a vegetarian lifestyle."
The woman smiled at the girl. "That's it's original purpose, yes. Though, my understanding of the children made here at D-corp is that all of you will reproduce like humans. In your case, I would lean towards that, with a fetus growing in your uterus... or 'tummy' as is commonly referred too, though incorrectly." She eyed the girl for a long moment. "But I believe it would be something not known entirely for sure until it happened. Not that I'm suggesting that..." She sternly added to the girl. Even though this child was a teenager, she was still too young for that!

LucĂa knows that she arrives late but she hopes to be able to enter so before to enter the class she knocks on the door and opens it. " I can enter, I arrive late but if it is not a lot of nuisance I would like to assist to class" she blushes and then she realizes that Alaqua also is in class and timidly she greets her
Tiamat waits in the corridor, and she looks from there and she sees Bob, brilliant a familiar dragon.

Ala turned around as she heard the door opening and gave a wave to her friend. Ah, that was her classmate! The teen glanced back over at the teacher, wondering how Lucia's tardiness would be taken. Some teachers got really defensive about it...
Bob grinned as he saw the familiar white behind the girl. Ah... someone he knew!

Sarah looked up towards the door as it opened and her other student walked in. The woman's smile disappeared, replaced with thin, pressed lips, as if she was trying not to chew Lucia out. Finally she took a breath and stared levelly at the feline girl. "I'm afraid your tardiness cannot be excused. The class is now over."
With that rather abrupt dismissal, Sarah glanced at Ala. "If you ever have any questions, feel free to drop by my office."
