The white Wind mare stood at the water's edge, gold hooves reflecting from the sun that beat down on her.
Green eyes surveyed the land, nervous and excited, all at once. She ruffled feathers in anticipation.
Ciardha, the handsome black and gold stallion who'd captured her heart and stolen the hooves right out from under her, would be here soon.
He was going to teach her, The Mare Who Sank, to swim.
Hopefully.

He had found his Human and had his legs wrapped with healing salve and bandages. It had taken a few hours to get to Kiana, and a few more to get his legs looked at. Even more time to get back to where he had left the beautiful mare. Ciardha arched his neck when he saw her. Maybe the bandages would give him a more rougish look. "Good morning, my lady."

Her ears perked at the familiar sound of hoof-hitting-dirt. And, coming towards her with a proud look on his face, was Ciardha, neck arched and tail swaying at his hocks.
She grinned and began to move towards him, pausing when she saw the white fabric tied around his legs.
"Cia!"
Her muzzle brushed his, then down to his wounds, whuffing. "Are you okay?"

"They don't hurt." He nibbled on her neck. Merlei had been missed in the time that'd he had been gone. "Kiana used a numbing plant on it."

Kiana? Was she a girlfriend? One ear flickered back. "Who is she?"
The mare wasn't the assuming type and the way Ciardha greeted her was assurance enough that he wasn't cheating.
Not that they were together...yet.

Cia smiled, guessing what was on her mind. "She is the human I go to for care or shelter when I want." The Stallion rubbed his nose over her nose affectionately.

Green eyes widened. "A...human? But...aren't they dangerous?"
Merlei herself had never met one, not really. She'd only heard stories and the ones she heard the most of were from Tavarii.
He'd had a run-in with a human foal when he was little. It was the 'most hideous' thing he'd ever seen. But then, the stallion was a tad vain in looks...
"Can I meet it sometime? The human?"

He grinned widely. "No. My human is quite safe. She hunts however, but only what she needs. I'd love for you to meet her."

She let out a breath of relief. "Good. I'd like that sometime," she smiled. "Now...are we going to swim?"
Merlei gave his muzzle a nudge, then took off to leap into the water, knee-high.

The water splashed towards shore, making the male shy back. Kiana hadn't said if he could get the wrappings wet or not.
"You should get to used to having wet wings first."

She waded in deeper, watching him with a nod. Wings wet...
Check.
Slowly, she moved until only her head was sticking out, both wings submerged. Fish swam around her ankles as her feathers flattened with wet.
"Do you want them, like...soaked?"

"That's up to you." Cia watched her. She looked nice wet. He tilted his head, studying her, and what he could see of her in the water. Not a mare he wouldn't mind being around for more then two days.

Amerlei grinned and flapped her wings like she'd seen the ducks do, water spraying outwards and landing in drops on the pond surface.
With a rear, she trotted in a circle through the water, feeling the hard weight that held her back from totally flying. Her hooves hit soft sand over and over again as she unknowingly went out deeper, her mind on Cia the entire time.

Silver eyes stayed on her the entire time. "Merlei... going out deep." He was making sure that she wasn't going to have a repeat of last time. While he didn't blame her for it, he didn't care to repeat it.

"I know!" she squealed, face as bright as a 7 year old's at Christmas.
Soon, her feet were missing the ground every few paddles, and when that happened and her panic rose, she hurried back to shore, to stand dripping at his side, nostrils flared out.
"Am I doing good?" And just like that, the filly was out in her.
