Now that he had grown a bit, not only in size but in strength since he had first emerged from his basket. Kosomot's need to explore kicked in quickly. Sticking around in one spot, waiting for his father, had grown boring quick. And he had slipped away from the mountain side into the valley below. Sure he could pass the time away hunting down rabbits or mice, or perhaps practicing his flying on the lower over hanging rocks at the foothills of his mountain home. But what he really wanted to was to see this world with his own eyes. The world that his father so condemned because of the filth that had infiltrated their kind.
The colt was proud of what he was. Perhaps a bit overly proud than one should be. And he showed it when he walked. He wasn't afraid of being spotted anymore. Though he really hadn't ever been afraid. More like cautious. His father had warned him of larger Kalona who would try to eat him if they could. Even warned him of his mother. Kosomot had never really known his mother. Valarauco had swept him away before the mare had time to even try to kill him. And he was a bit grateful for that. It was better to be alive than have your life cut short before it had began. The colt wanted to live his life and make his father proud. As it should be.
Slipping into the tall grass, he had to lift his nose up just a bit to keep the grass from going up his nostrils. But the sound of movement nearby caught his complete attention. The sound of rustling grass. And he ducked his head down low. Preparing himself to pounce.
Might as well get in some hunting practice while he was out. And if it was a nice, juicy rabbit well--that would be even better. He was getting a bit hungry.

Keira had only emerged from her basket very recently but even so, she was already up and about exploring everything she encountered. Her parents had never tried to keep her close to them and independence was very important in her family. Her father wanted the world to know about her and her family. Pride went a long way in Ariston and Heartless's family tree. She wasn't scared of anything but she was clearly part of this family. Keira was already showing sensitivity to light like Keiran and Heartless. And her pride was already blooming. Her eyes scanned around the area in front of her. She saw trees and more trees. Where were these other soquili that her family talked about so much? Then she saw him. The other kalona colt. Keira began to walk towards him and her eyes looked over him summing him up. He was bigger then her but she wouldn't back down.

Carefully he crept towards the wiggling bit of grass. Eyes fully locked on that one spot and ears perked forward. He was careful to not make any noise. Like a stealthy hunter should be. Each step was carefully planned before it had even been executed. Closer now, he was only a few feet away from whatever it was hiding in the grass. And so he crouched down a little lower.
But suddenly a flash of feathers and the squaking sound of a bird rang through the air as it took off from the ground and into the sky. Kosomot blinked. He hadn't made a sound at all. So how had it been startled so easily like that. His head popped up and red eyes scanned the area around him, searching for whoever it was that had spoiled his hunt. And those eyes landed on a slightly smaller form. In an instant he recognized just what it was. A Kalona filly. It wasn't the first time he had met one of these. Shoot, he had two sisters after all. But this was the second out side of his own family.
The colt studied her carefully before giving a little snort and stomping over to her. His eyebrows furrowed just slightly. Kosomot wasn't completely mad, just slightly irritated. If he had been truly trying to catch the bird because he was starving she would have been in much more trouble. She seemed a bit wet behind the ears if she was just walking right up to him and disturbing his hunt. His tail lashed as he stopped a few feet away from her. "Don't you know its rude to just walk up to someone when their hunting? You totally just chased my prey away." Closing one eye, he peered at her. "If you weren't a Kalona I'd have probably ripped you to pieces for that."

It wasn't until she got a few feet away when she noticed that he seemed to be hunting something. Oh. Whoops but oh well, she could care less about whether he needed to eat or anything. Keira stared at him with cold eyes, the glow only making them seem more eerie. She wasn't sorry so she didn't apologize and her voice sounded almost defiant when she replied to him. "Whoops. If you were a better hunter then you would have caught it before I came around." She shrugged nonchalantly and her pride hadn't even begun to rear its ugly head.
She probably would have killed herself if she wasn't a kalona. They were clearly the superior race and all of those other soquili weren't even worthy. "No matter what, you wouldn't be able to rip me to pieces so don't even think about it." And she wasn't scared of him. If anything happened to her, she knew that her family would destroy the colt and anything that was related to it. ... ... Keira had so much pride about her family and her kalona heritage.

"Pifft. I'm the best hunter out there. And I had JUST started hunting it before you stomped through and blew my cover." He flicked open his wings, giving them a stretch before folding them tightly against his back once more. "But whatever. Birds aren't worth the effort. Not enough meat and it was mostly practice anyway." In all honesty he was hoping it had been a rabbit. Kosomot didn't fancy all the bones and the taste that birds had.
The colt could never see himself as any other race. He loved his heritage greatly and despised those who made it filthy. He had sworn to himself that he would never be swayed by the lesser like those others. Though he had often been told by his father that sometimes you couldn't tell if some Kalona were entirely pure or not. And you had to be careful in your dealings with them if you didn't have very good knowledge or some kind of relationship with them. "You sound so sure of yourself." Kosomot smirked. It was nothing more really than an idle threat. The colt would only try if she had done something to warrant it, or if she had been something other than a Kalona. And really, the thought of the consequences about doing so never even crossed his mind. He knew of far worse things.

Smirking, Keira didn't believe him. "Hah, yea right. Don't blame me for your faults." The little filly shrugged nonchalantly as she continued to look him over. She wasn't impressed by his wings or his markings. There wasn't anything beautiful about him. Excuses, excuses... Keira had started practicing to hunt but she knew she wasn't very good yet. But he didn't know that did he. Her parents were the best hunters out there and she had no doubt that she would be just as good.
Keira despised half-bloods too. Her family knew of a few that were alright but she would never allow them to defile her own blood line. She didn't care about the other kalona on the world, only her own family line. "Of course I'm sure." She stared at the other kalona skeptically wondering what he was thinking. But she knew this would be interesting because she's never met another kalona outside of her family before.
