Well, if so, what do you play? and for how long? and what made you pick that instrument over the others.

I've been playing bass for about 4 years now.
And I play bass because it's sound's more powerful and smoother then guitar, to me. and i can kinda do more stuff with it.

I also play keys. not really though, Like two months. I wanted to play chords and take a different approach to making music that not alot of instruments can offer exept a piano (or keyboard in my case)

What about you guys?

I started off with playing the piano with a private teacher for a year, then I went to a music 'school' where I was put in a group and we played two-levelled electrical organs with pedals. My group changed throughout the many years and finally it was just me. Then my teacher moved away from my town and I had to go back to a private teacher (at a music school though). She had a piano and I stayed with her for about a year, but when she got sacked, I had to find another teacher. She had an electrical piano. I stayed with her for almost 2 years. Then she got sacked and I graduated and went to study in a town 5h drive away. So I had to quit playing. And I haven't really played since, that was 3 years ago. It's sad, I know, but I still have my keyboard stuffed in a closet and all my notes for future wants and useages.

All in all, I played these various piano-like instruments for 9 years in total, performed at Christmas and spring-concerts (in groups and alone) and went to a number of electical organ/piano camps, which were held in the summer. I met some of my best friends there. Mm.. good times.

And the reason I started was that I quit ballet, since the teacher hated me. And my parents thought I needed another hobby. They knew my first teacher, so that was also an easy transition from dancing to playing the piano.

Ha ha ha, Don't worry, I don't play metal too much, I mostly play jazz, particularly at this little bar and grill that has an open jam session. We play standards like stella by starlight, leapfrog, salt penuts and Scores more.

I do play metal with my friends some times. I don't like it too much because you cant jam, and the metal they like is too dense.

@ Dark Mana - you sound like a serious pro.... I wish I had alot of teachers like that. What style do you like to play the most? and have you tried playing any other instruments or are you soley a keys person?

I play the guitar. I have done for just over a year now domokun
I chose the guitar because I love it! Guitar solos, heavy riffs, melodic riffs...it's just awesome. Also, if I get an acoustic which I am hoping to soon, I will be able to take it camping n stuff which should be pretty fun

Uh, I used to play whatever my current teacher wanted me to play. I mostly played contemporary songs and melodies, but also the classics by Mozart and pals.

I've tried to play the guitar, but since my left wrist is messed up, I can't bend my hand around the neck of the guitar, which means I can't play. sad I fell over quite badly when I was a kid and the bones in my wrist healed extra thickly, so I can't bend my left wrist normally. I also can't use utensils properly. I have to keep switching the knife and fork between my hands constantly. sad

I play guitar. I like it because of it has kind of like an iconic status and that I can play all the riffs I like from my favorite songs. I'm not to good at though and I have been playing for roughly two years now. And I don't know if this counts, but I've been programming on drum machine software for 3 months now.

I play many instruments, most of them traditional instruments from different south american cultures:

Strings:
Tiple (Colombia),Charango (Andean)
Woodwinds:
Kena,Toyos,Maltas,Zankas,Ikas,Kenacho (all andean)

Plus electric and acoustic guitar (I am better at acoustic) bass and a little drums.

I play bass and flutes in Victum.

I can do vocals...and little bit of drums. I can keep a steady beat but my ADD kicks in an ruins it, I would better in a noise band than anything else for drums.

and I just bought a guitar, so I'll probably start teaching myself that, or take lessons. I am unsure of taking lessons or not, I guess it depends on how well I pick it up.

I am pretty good with synthesizers, but many don't agree its a real instrument or that it takes talent, but in order to be good, it takes a lot of talent trust me.

I've played guitar on and off for about 15 years now. I unfortunately have had too many "off" stretches in there, but nonetheless I'm decentish. My younger brother plays bass, and my youngest brother is a vastly superior guitarist to myself. We get a sweet little jam band this way, though. In fact, we got together and recorded a blues album for my dad as a Father's Day present this year.
