This is my first attempt at a roleplay. Any feedback you people can give will be considered a great help Story Come close, my children and I will tell you a story of a world unlike any other. The world of Seall is inhabited by two distinct races, the Humans and the Underlings. These two races have only recently been exposed to each other for the first time, leading to many incidents of predjudice and misunderstanding, the brunt of which are directed toward Underlings. Fights often break out on the streets between the two races and Underlings are treated like secondary citizens, making it difficult for them to put bread on the table. This story starts off in the human capital city, Colgul, in the dark, grungy streets of the market district, where, unaware of it themselves, open-minded young humans and Underlings are being drawn together for a much grander purpose than mere survival. Races Humans: The most balanced and the most hearty of the races that inhabit Seall. They are, by far, the most common of the races. Their skin color, hair and eyes come in many different shades. They do have ties to the Vein, a magic that connects all living things, and often exibit their power in offensive forms. Humans often consider Underlings to be unnatural due to their mutations. Underlings: Pale humanoids who's natural habitat is underground. They mainly have large pale or completely black eyes, although there are many exceptions, and light colored hair. Many of them have experienced physical mutations over the years to help them adapt to their underground habitat (so get creative!). They are strongly connected to the Vein and often use it's magic. If you would like to play as someone from a different race, please PM me your profile/suggested races and we'll discuss it. Rules 1. Please no cybering. PG-13 romance, I don't care, but NO CYBERING. 2. Please know how to write. No one liner posts. They must be minimum 5 sentences long. 3. Please no killing unless permission is given by the character himself. If no one wants to die, I may or may not decide on a death. 4. Quite simply, put in roses are red in your charcter profile (which you will PM me) so I know you read these and plan on following them. 5. Have the time of your freakin' life! Gaian Name: Roleplay Character Name: Species (Underling or Human): Age: Weapons: Magical Abilities (If any): Personality: Appearance (Picture or detailed description. Description preferred): Bio: Please make sure to PM me your profiles!

Profiles Gaian Name: Raygn Roleplay Character Name: Sefinae or "Fin" Species: Underling Age: Seventeen Weapons: A six-foot long wooden staff Magical Abilities: Manipulation of shadows, walking through walls Personality: For her kind, Fin is quite outgoing, even though she is usually quiet around other people. She's a stubborn individual and refuses to run away from her problems, choosing instead to face and solve them. Fin holds no prejudices towards other people, due to the fact that she is a very accepting person and sees people for what they are on the inside. She can also be a bit childish and mischeiveous at times (her favorite pastime is scaring other people). Fin is proud of her lineage and is unafraid to show the world what she is. Appearance: Fin's skin is quite pale and her white hair is cut raggedly so that it stops just above the nape of her neck. She has large, completely black eyes that are very sensitive to sunlight. Over the years, her family developed certain mutations causing Fin to be born with special qualities. She has two grey horns that sprout from above her ears and spiral much like that of a ram's but they are usually filed down to prevent them getting in the way. Her legs have mutated in a way so that she can press herself flat against a wall while climbing it in order to cling to it with ease. Her palms and feet also have miniscule barbs on them, allowing Fin to 'stick' to sheer cliff faces, etc. Fin has a long whip-like tail with a small puff of white fur attached to the end, much like a lion's tail. Her tail is quite flexible and is like another limb for her, allowing her to grip things with it. Fin usually wears loose, dun-colored pants and special sandles that are comfortible for her feet. She wears a light grey tunic that's decorated with tribal Underling designs under a short, brown leather vest. Fin also wears a special type of goggle with darkened lenses so that her eyes are not harmed by the sun. She wears a bright blue sash overtop of everything that was given to her by the leader of her tribe. Bio: She left the safety of her home tribe to make her fortune in the capital city when she was sixteen and has spent most of her time there living on the street, pickpocketing in order to get money since she was refused a job. She misses her family and friends terribly but is determined to prove her worth to the human race. Gaian Name: Torikimaru Toshiro Roleplay Character Name: Ken Hiroshima Species: Mutant Age: 17 Weapons: Claws and a sword Magical Abilities: A berserker mode when he gets too angry. Personality: Is nice, but can be brutal. Appearance: Bio: He left with Selfinae to the capital city by request of his father to make sure she didn't get into trouble. He was considered a 'Freak' because of his mutant abillity. He only unleashed his darker side once and almost killed everyone he knew. Gaian Name: Eumeia Roleplay Character Name: Astin Species: Human Age: Eighteen Weapons: A sword and longbow. Magical Abilities: Astin’s magical abilities are limited and not quite what he would like them to be, but as a human he is glad to have any skill with magic at all, and makes the best with what he is capable of. He is able to direct magic through objects and other things to alter them in various ways, changing their shape or making them more effective, larger, or more potent, for example. He already uses this to some extent with weapons and during combat, but he is still learning about his ability and much about it is still unknown to him. Personality: Astin is friendly, curious, and a little impatient. He has a constant desire to improve himself and his capabilities, to match up with all those around him. Because of this he is always eager for a challenge, though this eagerness often gets him into more than he bargains for. He has a strong sense of honor and always wants to do what is right, even when he isn’t sure what the wrong and right thing to do is. Appearance: Astin is well built and of average height, with lightly tanned skin and dark blonde hair. His brown eyes are expressive, easily showing emotion and giving away his thoughts and feelings. He has little control over this, so he has difficulty deceiving anyone or pulling off a lie. Bio: He was born into a well-off family, his parents being merchants who sometimes gained their wealth through not-so-legal dealings. His family was in good society, nevertheless, and was apart of those who held strong prejudices against the Underlings. Astin had always been brought up to look down on Underlings as inferior to humans, but lately Astin has begun to break away from this idea. He has begun to see that the Underlings, though not human, are people as well, and as a result conflict has arisen between him and his family over their different beliefs on the matter. Gaian Name: Horsefeatherz Roleplay Character Name: Artemis Juliet (aka Julie) Roberts Species: Underling Age: 17 Weapons: A hardwood staff with a blade concealed in each end. If you twist the middle, the blades emerge sharp, shiny and ready for action! Magical Abilities: This Underling is an empath- she can sense the emotions (or pain) of the people around her. It's also been noted that her singing has a somewhat hypnotic effect. Persona: Julie is generally kind and caring, though hopelessly naive. She is far too trusting for her own good, though if you do her direct physical harm she's likely to remember it. While a pacifist and a peace-maker, Julie is an incredibly skilled fighter, and can take care of herself when she sees fit to. She's pretty shy around humans and stays away from their towns when she can. Appearance: Julie is short and slim, with pale, almost silver-blue eyes. Her hair is platinum-blonde, though cut short and spiky. Surprisingly, her skin tone is darker than most Underlings; it looks like she has a fair tan going. Wearing a knee-length green tunic, belted with a length of rope about her waist, Julie's deformity becomes more evident when it's noted that her pants are much baggier than seems necessary. Her legs resemble that of some giant lizard, covered with large, smooth, over-lapping scales of a dark rock-hue. Her feet, with three clawed toes each, and a dew-claw higher up off the ground, are also lizard-like, allowing for maximum mobility in the dark rocky reaches of the pit her village is located in. Her tail (yes I said tail) is long and flexible, scaly like her legs and prehensile, but for modesty's sake, she usually keeps it tied about her waist. When she has no choice but to go into human towns, she wears a long, concealing cloak to hide her "differences". During the day, since she lacks tinted goggles, Julie often wears a blindfold to protect her eyes from the sun. Bio: With a fair upbringing, Julie was happy living with her family until recently, when elder brother disappeared. Now this young Underling is roaming the surface, searching for her family. While more than a little worried about her brother, it seems Julie is more than happy to welcome a new adventure in the meantime. Gaian Name: Sine Pari Character Name: Germanis Species: Underling Age: 19 Weapons: Katana, Wakizashi, nunchuk, and Shuriken Magical Abilities: teleportation, and invisibility Personality: Outgoing and strives to be kind as well as caring to all those around him. Very adventurous, he always wants to overcome every challenge in front of him no matter what it may be. Germanis tries to be accepting of all those around him and not judge people based upon their race. When in combat, he is VERY efficient and will "neutralize" any and all opposition as quickly as possible. He is very duty driven and will sacrifice everything to help those he loves. Appearance: Germanis is 5'10 with very pale skin and silver hair. Due to that, he has spent a substantial amount of time above ground. Germanis usually dresses in robes similar as the monks. Due to years of training, his body is very strong, capable of performing feats unable to be done by anyone else. As an Underling, he has inherited superior senses from his ancestors, as well as a tail that has fork at the end allowing him to use it as another weapon or limb. Due to his separation from the Underlings, he is completely oblivious to Underling styles, but out of pride of his heritage, Germanis will wear whatever Underling outfits he can come across... needless to say this causes him to be susceptible to the ridicule of not only Underlings but humans as well. Bio: Germanis was mysteriously seperated from his tribe and wandered out of the underground caves. Upon reaching the surface, he wandered about to try to find shelter. After collapsing of exhaustion, he was found and taken in by a group of martial monks. He lived with them for years, where he was trained in the arts of combat and learned a new perspective on life. Years later, Germanis was overcome by the mystery of what happened to his tribe and set out to find the answers to the mysteries that plagued him... Gaian Name: elphyandfiyero Roleplay Character Name: Lianna Species: Underling Age: 17 Weapons: none Magical Abilities: Controls and creates wind. Personality: She is always on her guard. But when you get to know her and she can trust you, she's very kind and fun. Generally, she is nice to her own kind but to humans it's a different matter. Appearance: Bio: Lianna was taught never to trust humans. Her father always told her they were no good. Thanks to her cat like ears and tail, other cats come to her whenever she is around. One day she decided to head to the surface to actually learn about why humans were hated among her family. She didn't know how long she would stay up there but she had to found out the reason. Gaian Name: onner Roleplay Character Name: Kane Species: Underling Age: 18 Weapons: His brute strength (Basically martial arts), his claws, and fangs. Magical Abilities: He has enhanced strength and stamina, other than that he has none. Personality: Kane is proud of his heritage and never hides what he is. He is a skilled fighter and he loves adventure. He is a kind and respects people. He holds no prejudices against the humans and doesn't care what they think of him. Appearance: Kane is 6'5" and athletic built. Unlike others his skin is on the borderline of tan, because of the color of his skin he doesn't wear the cloaks that other underlings wear to protect their skin from the sun. He wears a tank top and baggy pants. He has completely black eyes, which are sensitive to sun. To protect them when he's out walking in the sun he wears goggles he designed himself. On the goggles are a small nob which he can turn to change how much light is let through the goggles. He has silver hair which he hides by wearing a bandana over his hair. He has small horns sprouting from the top of his head, through the bandana he wears. He is blind in his left eye and has a scar that crosses it from an accident he had when he was a child. He has sharp teeth that can be used as a nother weapon. He has spikes protruding along his forearms, starting smaller near his wrists and enlarging toward his elbows. He has more spikes like the ones on his arms on his shins but they are hidden by his baggy pants. Both his hands and feet have claws. He doesn't wear shoes but instead goes around barefoot. He also has a cat like tail which he uses like another limb. On his shoulders he has his underling tribe design tattooed on them. Bio: He left his tribe and wandered to the surface when he was 15. He immediatly found that the humans held no love for his kind and he was forced to fend for himself, pickpocketing and stealing for food. Gaian Name: Hiro Cascade Roleplay Character Name: Kouri Aisu Species: Human. Age: 17 Weapons: Double-headed kwan dao. Magical Abilities: Limited snow/ice/crystalline magic. Personality: He acts as a very kind and gentle person. However, he can be very destructive, whether it be mentally or physical harm. He is very much against fighting, but if a fight prolongs too long, a sort of blood lusting persona takes over. Appearance: Bio: He was raised in a family that despised the mutations called "Underlings." However, throughout his life, Kouri never had a bad run-in with the "Underlings." Hell, he had never even seen one before. For ten years of his life, Kouri could only listen to tales of the dreaded things. One time though changed his views. Passing through his normal village, he came to witness the brutal beating and death of an underling brother and sister. They were simply stealing food for their starving selves. Unable to understand the discrimination, Kouri befriended Underlings and understanding their dire conditions. This befriending brought drastic changes to Kouri's lifestyle. He was shunned by his family and friends became enemies. For the next seven years of his life, Kouri has tried to balance everything at the toll of his sanity.

As usual, the dirty streets of the marketplace were crowded. The square was filled with merchants yelling out their wares to any passerby that came their way, people haggling for prices and, of course, guards. No one noticed the young Underling girl sitting on the roof of one of the houses facing the marketplace. Fin let out a long sigh. It's been the same every day since I got here, she thought, wrinkling her nose, Loud, crowded and smelly. A sharp jingle came from below her and she peered over the side of the roof and saw two humans bartering. One of them, she noticed had quite a large pouch of coins with him. Fin watched the transaction hungrily, thinking about how much food she could get with one of those coins. Maybe Kenny's found some food, she thought, standing up, But where is he? Fin took a giant breath and yelled, "KEN! WHERE ARE YOU?!"

Ken appeared behind Fin. "Don't yell so much." Ken said. "It really hurts my ears." Ken put his hands in his pockets. "So, why is it that you called me? I was trying to get a job so that we had money for food and shelter."

Artemis slipped through back alleys, avoiding as many of the people as she could. The petite Underling, better known as Julie, lifted her blindfolded head and sniffed the air, listening intently for the approach of anything other than the rats in the garbage. She wore her dark, loose cloak, the hood pulled up to conceal her face despite the warmth of the spring day. Beneath the concealing garment, the girl stroked her lithe, scaled tail, which was twined about her waist. I'll have to go out into the main street to get food... Julie grimaced as her stomach rumbled loudly. The scents of various cookeries nearby made her mouth water, but she had no money. What can I do to earn a meal, though? With a sigh, the Underling paused on a corner, stealing herself for the dive into the crowd. Here it was loud and crowded, and the scents were nearly overwhelming. She didn't like it, but most of the Underling slaves in Seall came through this city at one point or another, so there was a chance her brother was here. Licking her lips nervously, Julie bowed her head and kept to the edge of the crowd, weaving her way toward a promising-smelling stall halfway down the block.

Fin let out a small gasp and whirled around to face Ken, "Please don't sneak up on me like that!" She let out a small smile and said,"I was just wondering if you had found any food or not, but I guess not." Fin turned towards the plaza, noticing a small individual dressed in dark cloth struggle to make their way across the market. Strange, she thought, why would that person be wearing such heavy clothing when it's this hot out? Something about this person had roused Fin's curiosity. "Ken, I'll be back in a couple minuets," Fin said as she started to climb down the front of the house. She ignored the comments and insults of the surprised humans below her and began walking towards the darkly clothed figure.

Lianna hid behind a building. What she was doing was crazy. There was no way she could be out with the humans alone. A cat sat in front of her and watched her. "I'll just go back home." She said to the cat. Again, those eyes just stared at her. "Fine, I'll go. But I won't like. From what I hear humans smell." Lianna put up her hood of her cloak to hid her ears and tail. The cat soon followed. "You don't have to come with me, ya know." But the cat didn't listen. The cat meowed and Lianna stopped. "Fine." She sighed and smiled. Lianna picked up the cat and continued to walk towards the crowd. Many people began to shout. One word in particular caught her attention.
"Fresh fish!" One man yelled. Both Lianna and the cat she was holding licked their lips. She walked up to the man cautiously. She hadn't eaten yet and the fish looked very appetizing. "Would you like some fresh fish? Caught directly this morning." He said to her. As she got closer, the smell was unbearable.
"That's not fresh." She said and continued on. The cat meowed in protest. "Don't worry my friend. I'll find you some good food."

Julie caught a scent amidst the wash of human smells that made her gasp. It was from Under! She could tell the scent of another Underling nearby, but she couldn't seem to tell exactly where. The girl's head snapped up, and her hood fell back, revealing her pale hair and distinct fangs as she opened her mouth to follow the scent more accurately. Nearby, someone yelled something insulting about an Underling. Julie turned to face the voice, trying her best to avoid the people around her. She managed to sidestep about three out of every five that came her way, but she was still jostled often. Someone grabbed the staff Julie wore strapped across her back and shoved her forward roughly. The girl fell to the cobblestone, bruising her palms as she slowed herself. Several voices were yelling all at once, all of them surprised and unhappy about some Underling in their midst. But even among this, it seemed only one or two of the insults were directed at her. Julie pulled herself to her feet, tuning her senses to the Feeling of Under. The other Underling approached swiftly, and Julie wished she dared to removed her blindfold to see her companion.

Lianna looked watched as the humans pushed another Underling. "So that's where you are." She said to herself. Earlier she could sense another Under but couldn't find them. The cat in her arms hissed. Lianna put her down and went to the Underling. She ran to the Underling and stood in front of her. If she needed to fight so be it.
What savages. No wonder father doesn't like them so much. I was better off at home.
"Why do you protect this Underling?" A man asked from the crowd. She took off her hood and the people gasped. The insults continued to follow. Her claws were ready to attack.

Astin wove his way in between the crowds of passing people as he walked down the streets of Colgul, his step unhurried as he observed the passersby. While they all rushed past on their daily business, each with a purpose in mind, Astin was making his way at a leisurely pace as he took in the scene around him. His usual affairs were situated at the other end of the city, where the folk tended to be wealthier and more refined; a person like him did not usually have business in a place like the market district of Colgul. What it was that had driven him here had been mainly curiosity, but he did also have a purpose for coming. Of sorts.
Astin stepped off to the side of the road, placing himself in the shade of a building’s overhang. From here he scrutinized the passersby more carefully, looking for certain identifiable traits. Shielded eyes. Light-colored hair. Unnaturally pale bodies cloaked despite the midday heat. Astin knew how to identify an Underling hidden in the middle of a crowd, but this skill had originally been taught to him so he might keep away from the creatures, not look for them as he was doing now.
Astin had grown up in a family that hated the Underlings and looked down upon them as less than animals. He had been raised, too, to fear them and think of them as inferior to humans. It hadn’t been until late that Astin had begun to question the idea. Just why was it that humans hated them so much? Had they done something terrible, were they really to be feared? Or was it just their strange, utterly inhuman appearances that invited such hatred? Astin was completely ignorant when it came to the Underlings, as were most all humans, but unlike most, he wanted solid answers. If there was a reason to hate them, he wanted to know what it was. He believed ungrounded prejudice was wrong, so if there truly were answers to be found, Astin resolved to uncover them today.
But he would get nowhere if he couldn’t find an Underling. Astin sighed with frustration as he continued searching the crowds, but his efforts were in vain. Not a single person that looked like an Underling had passed by. Just now he had been so confident that he’d be able to find them! Surely they couldn’t be that good at blending in. Perhaps he hadn’t gone far enough into this part of the city. He knew that going from here, the district grew poorer, more dilapidated, and more crowded as well. Such places were unfamiliar to him, but it just might be where he needed to go to accomplish what he had come here for. Making his decision, Astin left his watching point and set off, walking down the busy streets of Colgul yet again.

Julie shuffled her feet, touching the back of her protector's cloak. "No." She said softly. "There's no need for violence, not here." They were severely outnumbered, and any motion to fight would make a mass mob and chances were that innocents would get hurt or even killed. Of course, Julie didn't take the time to explain all of this. Instead, she moved a little closer to her companion, affirming with her sharpened senses that this girl was from Under. She was- but her scent had an oddly furry tinge to it. Interesting. Someone nearby, male by the sound of his voice, demanded to know why the girl was protecting her. The sound of gasps and surprised squeaks made her frown slightly. What had happened? She had sensed that movement of the girl beside her throwing back her hood- could that be it? Turning to face the man that had questioned the other Underling, Julie smiled slightly. "I apologize for my clumsiness, sir. I meant no harm. My friend is just a little... rash." The crowd muttered, and she could hear them scuffing their feet as they started to move along to their own business. Disaster averted, Julie turned to the Underling beside her and bowed slightly, lifting her blindfolded face to her approximation of where the girl's eyes would be. "My thanks, t'varish." Julie said, smiling faintly.

Lianna glared at the humans as they walked away. Savages. She thought. No wonder father hates them so much.
The cat rubbed up against Lianna's leg. Lianna picked up the cat and turned to the girl. "Anytime. I never imagined the humans to be so barbaric." She looked at the girl up and down to get a full view of her. "I'm Lianna."

((Russian, Horsefeathers? I never knew you were so worldly whee )) Fin nodded in Ken's direction, showing that she had acknowledged his presence and started to push her way through the crowd of jeering humans. She heard many insults and slurs about Underlings, but she noticed that many were not directed at her. She peered above the crowd to where the darkly clothed individual had been standing and noticed that there was another person standing by it. As Fin looked more closely, she noticed that they were both incredibly pale for humans, too pale... Then it hit her; a familiar scent was drifting on the air. Fin gasped, those two weren't human at all, they were both Underlings! She tried to dart forward through the writhing mass of the crowd, pushing people out of the way. Curses and slurs erupted from the people whom Fin pushed aside and, as Fin looked back to yell out an apology, someone stuck their foot out in front of her. Fin let out a sharp yelp of pain as she struck the road face first. Wincing, she propped herself up on her arms and looked up. She had fallen directly in front of the other two Underlings and a cat that she hadn't noticed before. Fin looked up to the faces of the other Underlings, put on a jaunty smile and said, "Hi, My name's Fin!"
