I play bassoon, and i LOVE IT!!! Honestly though, i never thought i would even consider it when it was choosing time. I had only seen it once before and i thought:
"WTH!?" "I ain't gonna choose that "potato shooter lookin' stick thing."
I stand corrected.

*second* Oh, well, I play the oboe in my band; I'm the only one... crying It would be really cool if I had different shapes on my instrument, like engraved(lightly)into the bell and stuff like that! ^__^

Well, at my primary school we did this whole three week long selection process. Matching the person to the instrument. I chose trombone 'cause it was the first instrument I could make a decent sound on and I didn't want to play a string instrument.

I chose the bassoon (mostly) because I heard a solo of it in a piece and I absolutely loved the sound.
Yeah, pretty weird reasoning. I was surprised when I started playing it and it really was the instrument I've been looking for. XD

My band needed a Bass Clarinetist... I was the worst clarinetist in the band... The BD moved me over, now I'm one of the best... LoL that's the story of how I found my perfect instrument...

I started on alto sax. When I went into Sumrall's office, I wanted to change to percussion, but I accidentally said trumpet. sweatdrop I'm glad I picked trumpet because I love it and the drummers in my band are idiots.

we had a substitute and everybody was switching instruments, and my friend (who played the bassoon) asked me if i wanted to "switch" with her... so she got me the school's bassoon out, and she got her flute out, and i've been playing bassoon ever since!

I use to play the french horn, but I was so shitty I had to switch, so I told my teacher I play trumpet but wanted a change, so he suggested the baritone horn. Ahmahagah! best decision ever!

[ ]Well, looks like I have four instruments to talk about, since I didn't choose to play auxiliary.
First off, flute. I liked how it sounded and my mom still had her old flute, so I decided to start out on that.
Next, trumpet. I actually had a dream about trying out a new instrument, and I took that as a sign. Trumpet would've been my second choice starting out and my middle school trumpet section was really small, so I decided to give trumpet a shot after two and a half years of playing flute.
Then, mellophone. I thought it seemed like a really interesting instrument and I wanted to try marching it, so I asked my band director, who was starting his first year of being director at the time, if I could. I told him how long I had been playing flute and trumpet and he didn't turn me down.
Finally, French horn. Since my experience on mellophone had been a positive one and I knew that most mellophone players played French horn during concert season, I decided to at least give it a shot. I also thought it would be cool to try it, since my grandma played French horn.

I went to this thing at a school and tried out about six different instruments. After, I chose the instrument I was best at(Trumpet) and the instrument that I wanted to play because it looked unique(French Horn). The band director chose one of those instruments for me to play, so now I play the trumpet.

wow well there's 2 instruments.
First, I wanted to be like my mom and so I chose to play the violin. It was fun and I really enjoyed it but after a year of playing I moved in with my dad and my new school didn't have an orchestra
which leads to
So I chose to be in band. Well I didn't exactly specify what instrument I wanted to play so I was stuck in a random class (my middle school had 2 instruments per class for beginners) So I went in basically blind as to what instrument I wanted to play. Well I ended up in the clarinet/sax class and I was like " my dad'll prolly like the cheaper of the 2 so I chose clarinet and I haven't looked back. I've loved playing it. I want to try the Eb and Bass clarinet to but those cost money to rent XD that and the schools Eb is already being used by my friend so I have to wait till my senior year before I can play it.

I have a few instruments to talk about.
I started out on percussion back in 6th grade, but I was the only girl in my section. The other boys were mean to me, so I asked for a clarinet for Christmas that year and got one. So I started playing clarinet. The girls in that section were even meaner, but I just ended up sticking with it. Eight years later and heading toward my junior year in a college band and orchestra, I'm still playing.
Baritone... we basically didn't need any more clarinets in marching band (it's pointless anyway) and we were really hurting for people in low brass. That's that.
Bass - my high school jazz band had a tuba playing the bass line. I walked into the band room on the first day of high school and saw a bass over on one of the shelves. I told my band director I wanted to play it. So I did. heart

I actually wanted to play flute at first, but then, my Dad introduced me to jazz music. I fell in love with the sax and decided to begin playing alto sax. I'm so glad I did! biggrin
