The pale little foal made his way to a nice pond that he knew of. It was one of the better things he had learned from his mother. She had first shown it to him, and he rather liked it, and understood why she brought him and his brother there so often. As he reached the muddy banks, he sighed happily and peered into the water before taking a drink. He never got around to the second part, however, because he suddenly found he was staring straight into the eyes of a turtle who was sticking his head out of the water. He smiled faintly as he tilted his head and considered the creature.
"Well, hello. How is the water today? You seem comfortable enough. I hope you don't mind me taking a drink."
He watched the turtle, waiting to see if it would react, but nothing happened. The creature merely continued to stare at him. He sighed a bit, wondering if he should take a drink, or leave the turtle to himself. He was thirsty, but he felt it would be slightly rude to drink right there in front of him....perhaps he should move further down the bank? As he considered his options, he continued to stare at the little green creature, quite oblivious to anything else around him.

The filly had been following her own little frog, who hopped continuously, and had been doing so since she had found him by the bush that was starting to grow blossoms. He was small, and green, but boy was he fat! Her eyes twinkled their golden hue as she watched him.
She looked up slightly, only enough to see that she was coming up to a pond.
"A-ha! So you DID want me to see where you lived!" She said smiling, as she had spent the entire morning asking it if she could go to his home and see how he lived.
Her little white tail was wagging as she smiled.
The frog took one last leap, and plummeted into the water, dissappearing from sight.
The little filly rushed over, plopping her nose into the water without a thought, and pulling it out with a frown on her face.
"But I wanted to come too!"

The foal continued to watch the turtle, seeing if he would make any sign that he understood a single word that he had said, but soon, something caught his ear, and he turned to find the source of the voice.
Just as he looked around, he heard a small "plunk" as if something had fallen into the water, and turned to see another foal approaching the banks. This one was completely different than him and his brother, however. She did not have a horn, but instead had feathery wings. He watched her for a moment before taking a few steps closer to her.
"I'm sorry to interrupt you, but who are you talking to?"
He fully realized that he had just been talking to a turtle, but that didn't seem strange to him at all. What did seem strange was that it appeared that this other foal was speaking to nobody and nothing, and that was certainly not normal.

Dove, whose head was now all wet from the dunking to search for the creature underwater smiled bashfully. "Im sorry! I was following a frog, who so rudely jumped into this pond."
She said, casting her golden gaze back down to the water to see if the frog would come back.. Obviously it wasnt.
SO she turned her interest to the foal. He was a cuter foal, with the horn that her teepeemate Spike had..She smiled, her mother had had the horn as well..But she hadb een blessed with mothers wings. And as if htinking about them brought htem to life, she stretched them tot he side, and then curled them back to her body.

With a tone of understanding, Shen nodded his head lightly and gestured back to the spot where he was.
"These water creatures are somewhat strange to me. I was going to get a drink, but found myself face to face with a turtle. I asked him if I would offend him by taking a drink, but he refused to answer, and merely stared at me. I don't really understand them very much."
He sighed, looking back at the turtle, whose head was still poking out of the surface of the water. He then looked back at the other foal.
"If I may ask, what is your name? I am Shen."
He bowed his head slightly in greeting.

She grinned, thinking about what he had said and smiling. "I was almost doing the same! Except the frog was quite rude and merely ignored me. I shall be cross with it one day." She said, her voice almost sounding slightly angry, but quickly turned to a giggle as she wagged her little white tail.
"Nice to meet you Shen! Im Dove." She smiled, cocking her head.
"D'ya think we offend sea creatures?" She asked, looking curiously down into the waters abyss.
"Cause I dont wanna.."She gulped slightly. "Anger anything that shouldnt be angered by drinking his house." She said, her voice soft. She was very much the little filly, who had a whole lot of learning to do.

He smiled at her in return. It seemed that they were having similar adventures today. He thought about her question, his eyes going out of focus for a moment as he considered the water creatures' feelings. When he had reached a conclusion, he focused his eyes back on Dove and smiled lightly.
"I don't believe that they are angry. I just think they don't understand all the time. Imagine if you were in the water, and something put his nose down to the surface and started taking water. It must be a very strange thing to see. But I think they know that we need water to drink, so I don't think they're angry. Just confused and curious sometimes."
He felt happy with his answer. To him, it made complete sense, and he hoped that his new acquaintance would agree. However, if she didn't understand, or if she didn't agree, he was completely willing to come up with another theory. Perhaps they could come up with something together.

She thought hard on his words..And her smile turned brighter as she finally accepted that reply. She loved the way he had worded that. She'd been able to understand him, and hadnt even needed anyone to help her decode the meaning..
"Well lets hope so, cause mad turtles and frogs cannot be a good thing." She said, bemused.
She thought of the turtles seeing others stick their mouths and noses into the water, and slowly sip their home away. She truly hoped they didnt see it that way..She liked turtles too much for them to think she was trying to intentionally hurt them.
She smiled, fluffing out her wings, and giving a small laugh. "I guess they cant be too mad..They take our land too..Cant own the water and the earth. Silly creatures." She giggled.

Shen was glad that Dove understood. He knew that he could be a little hard to understand sometimes, and was glad that she didn't need him to repeat or rephrase his words. He looked around at the turtle, who was still sticking his head out of the surface of the water, then turned back to Dove.
"So, Dove, what shall we do now? It seems that our aquatic friends are going to provide little amusement. So shall we go for a walk or..."
He hesitated. He didn't really know what young foals did for fun. He was usually with his mother and his brother, trying to keep peace in the family. He hadn't really had the time to go and enjoy himself.

She smiled, nodding exhuberantly. She'd love to play or even walk with another foal..She met so few foals in her life, that she had become toworry if she'd only ever speak to adults.
Her wings shifted, and she drew them closer to her body. Her golden freckles on her littlebrown face glistened slightly, and her golden eyes glittered with dignity and happiness.
"Sure!"
Her tail was literally wagging, much like a dog.
"I like to chase butterflies, swim in the creek, and play hide and seek in the plains!" She grinned. "What do you enjoy doing?" She asked, looking into his eyes and cockingher head.

Shen's face fell. He was going to have to admit that he hadn't had a chance to play like normal foals did. He looked back up at Dove and thought for a moment. Should he make something up, or just tell her the truth?
"Well...those things sound like fun. I haven't done any of them before."
Well, that seemed to fit right in the middle. He wasn't lying, but didn't say outright that he didn't play. He was merely expressing interest in her favourite activities.

When she saw his face fall, and the smile droop, she too lsot her smile, and looked back curiously.
But when he said he'd never done any of her favorite things..Well then her smile lit up.
"Then Ill teach you!"
She said, giving him a nudge.
"Its not hard, and its alot of fun.." She smiled and thought for a second.
"Actually, I like to do all those things I mentioned..So maybe you should pick which you want to try first?" She smiled brightly..SHe had made a friend.

Shen's smile returned when he saw her enthusiasm. It seemed that she didn't care that he didn't know any of her games. In fact, it seemed that the fact that she would be able to teach him something was even better than just playing a game. He replayed what she had listed, and picked the one that sounded most appealing to him.
"How about hide and seek?"
He had heard of this before, but didn't completely understand how to play it. He had never learned the rules. His mother had never played with him....

She giggled.
"Thats my favorite!" She squealed, and gave a smile, while going to the nearest tree, and looking back at him with golden orbs that shined in the sun with all her innocence.
"Come here, Shen!" She called, and looked to the tree she was standing next to. Her eyes ventured to the tips of the tree, and she was staring upwards before she realized it. But she shookher head and looked back.
"Close your eyes, and count to thirty. But put your forehead on the tree, or you could possibly see me, and thats cheating." She said with a smile.
"So close your eyes, count, and Im going to hide somewhere in this area. You have to find me! Pretty simple, but lots of fun." She saidsmiling.

Shen followed Dove over to the tree, and waited while she looked up at something. He looked up as well, but didn't see anything special. When she shook her head, he guessed she must have thought she had seen something, but was mistaken.
He listened carefully to her directions. So it seemed that the point was to find where the other was hiding. It seemed simple enough. But like she said, it also sounded fun. He followed her directions and pressed his forehead against the trunk of the tree and closed his eyes.
"Ok, ready? One....two...three...four..."
