Swamps weren't exactly Namir's specialty. He wasn't short-selling himself because he'd never been in one before, but he was short-selling himself because he was in one now and he never knew quite when his paw was going to sink into a particular stretch of the ground as he followed along side a stretch of the water.

He'd travelled by bodies of water before, but never one with such scenery. It was something that he took in as he walked along. Trees, water... definately a lot of nature. Namir was almost afraid that the nature was going to reach out and try to eat him because of his brown coat.

And lo and behold, it sure tried. About a minute after he had that thought, he suddenly lost his footing and went TUMBLING into the swampwater in a bit of a horrible heap and a really distressed sounding yell. Not damsel in distress yell, but a yell.

Mwenye-Heri Tarishi had been ambling along through her damp home, minidng her own business, when a distressed yell rang out and interrupted her thoughts. Who was that? What was wrong?! The pale lioness sprang into action, moving nimbly through the swamp in the direction of the yell. For all she knew, it could be a family member, or any other pride member, and something terrible could be happening! There could even be a crocodile! Such thoughts speeded her steps.

Not a crocodile. Just a pathetic looking brown male who was now covered in swamp water, carefully pulling himself out of the muck and the mush and dripping all over.

Good thing he was rather.. swampie-colored to begin with, though there was a noticable darkening of his pale-colored limbs, even after he'd 'beached' himself and started shaking out his fur.

Ew.

But also not so much, as his fur still wanted to cling to any moisture possible, leaving him to just look like a big soggy something-or-other. Like a teddy bear.

Oh. OH!

It seemed that he'd summoned 'reinforcements' with his little distressed sounding yell, offering his 'hero' a weak smile, obviously embarassed.

Hard not to be when some old lion had just become BFF with the water.

Well! She certainly hadn't been expecting a soggy stranger! Or any stranger at all, really. They didn't get very many of those. And yet here one was! It was certainly better than a crocodile, and he seemed alright...just a little embarrassed. Still, that didn't keep her from asking, out of some sense of obligation, "Are you okay?"

And naturally, he had every plan to be pleasant and reply to her question. Again, out of some sense of 'obligation' now that she had asked him.

"I'm doing suitably enough, thank you." He made a point to use a very gentle tone with her, as the words alone could have been taken as some form of sarcasm or snarkiness. Namir was hardly either of the above.

"Oh." Shishi smiled, a little awkwardlybut the politeness was still obviously there. "That's good." What else was she supposed to say? It wasn't as though he needed it pointed out to him that he was sopping wet.

...which, actually, was pretty normal around here.

And there was that awkward silence that seemed to come in every conversation. It seemed people could only talk for ten minutes before one interjected itself in some shape or form. So it was only to be expected that after she'd been shown that the yell was only from a very unsurely footed lion that such a silence would come.

"But I thank you for being concerned enough to come check on me."

"You're welcome!" she replied cheerfully, and was silent for another few awkward moments before speaking. "So, umm...who are you?"

Oh, well that was a proper question to be asked, wasn't it? But the female didn't seem all that 'unpleasant', from what he could gather of her. So he was going to be as pleasant as he could.

He didn't know if he had vibes of 'unpleasant' on a normal basis, so that made it even more of a perogative to be on better behaviour.

"I'm just a rogue who managed to get himself lost in here. My name is Namir if that's more of what you were looking for." He admitted sheepishly.

"Namir, hmm? I'm Shishi! Well, Mwenye-Heri Tarishi if you want all of it." The lioness grinned - her name was a mouthful and she knew it, but that was pretty normal around here. "If you're lost, I can show you the way out, if you want."

And then came the vacant expression as his brain tried to seek out a spot to store that name. Unfortunately, however, it was just going "fjdksflajlkf" at him. As that was a loooong name.

And he was really bad with names in general, unfortunately.

"Oh, you could?" he answered, seeming to perk just a tad with a sort of hopefulness to this fortune. If she'd 'show' that would be very helpful. As anything more would lead him into...
...

the swamp even further to be lost like a lost person. It would be highly unfortunate, really, as he'd get eaten by the swamp and never come out.

The blank expression was hard to miss, and Shishi giggled. "Were you going anywhere in particular to begin with?

"The ocean." he answered simply, knowing well enough that this little trek he was taking was going to result in more of a...
...

Long round-about trip that would get him lost right back where he started, sooner or later. But there was no harm in a little 'meeting friendly faces' as he went along with it.

"I'm... not sure which direction that was, though.."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 08, 2009 8:48 am

"The ocean? Oh, that's easy! That's off to the east, and we don't share borders with any prides on that side, so you should be just fine. Here, this way~!" With no further ado, Shishi started off in the aforementioned direction.

Oh? So she knew the direction of where it was on earth he was supposed to be going? MOST WONDERFUL. Which of course brought him the slight relief of possibly not getting his a** lost as hell again.

'Possibly' being key word there. Unfortunately, he had a very good penchant for just getting lost and staying lost as it was.

That's why it had been a ridiculously long time since he'd actually BEEN home properly. Or he'd gone 'home' just to find it had MOVED ON HIM.

AUUUGH.

"I do appreciate the directions."
