Despite my blatant disinterest in anything more modern than the very early 19th century, I must say that my favorite style of art is impressionism, particularly Renoir, Monet, Degas, and Bazille. I tend to favor seaside portraits and landscapes because I love the ocean so much, but in general I love the style because it feels like it's going to move any second. Any painting where there is an element that your logic tells you must move (such as the ocean, or a dress blown by wind), there is movement. The artists painted in the suggestion of movement, not simply the declaration of it. In example: compare with any painting of an earlier era where a woman's skirt billows just that much more because the artist wanted to tell you, "Hey, it was windy that day." Take an impressionist painting, and the artist doesn't tell you, "It was windy." S/he asks, "Can you see how the wind moves things?"

so hard to chocie, i love serealism it is my favorite kind of art. but then again photo realism is so perfect, almost impossable to think that was painted and not taken by a camera.
as far as time periods i have only study a tinny bit of like perhistoric art histor leading in to greek and roman. and i have study a lot of reanassions art history. (sorry for sp erros to lazy to check right now) the proto ren was really cool, so was the southen ren, but i really like northern ren art historyl, there was so much sybloism, although i think there was better art in the south.

My favourite style is impressionism too biggrin and my favourite artist is Claude Monet. I adore his water lilies and the cycle of Rouen Cathedral. When I look at the colors, lines in these paintings, they make me relax, feel happy...
