It was a late afternoon. Vohamanah landed on the river bank that led into the forest. It was a familiar path. He had traveled it often as a child to visit his grandparents at their herd's family's location. However, it had been many moons since Vohamanah went back to visit. He hadn't stayed away from bad impressions of these soquili. Rather, he held Glory and Kahaina in the highest of regards.
Still, it was a humid summer afternoon in the plains. Sohalia had been sometimes seeming slightly more agitated with him over small things than normal. He figured he ought to go for a walk and give her time to herself. He always forgot to give her that. He had to admit.
He had been walking along the trail for a short bit. He was looking around and sniffing. So far, he saw no sign of his kin. Where were they? Would they even remember him? He really was much bigger these days...

Kahaina was 'standing watch' for a lakc fo better terms on the area where he'd been most of his life. Certainly, once he'd ahd a family he'd made more space away from the teepee for them, but he still stayed close to the two-legger who'd helped him through. He'd not seen his brother in some time, and his daughter still remained. It was good to see the family still together and communicating. Even the grandchildren had visted, and that pleased him.
Grandchildren... it made him feel a little old to dwell on, but then, he wasn't a spring chicken anymore, either. He left the antics of youth to his spirited and rather headstrong daughter Silvance, who certainly didn't seem to want to settle down yet - oh how she was so like her mother with a pinch of his very young age... hopefully once day she'd grow out of it. His two sons he couldn't be any more proud of, content with how things were with them. Agate would find his own in time, and if not, well that was fine too -- he hadn't settled down for quite some time, to say the least. And Mythril had a family.
He gave a toss of his head to resettle his hair as he scanned the area, and noticed something coming up this way - the was certainly familiar enough, considering he knew quite well the wings and golden hair from his daughter-in-law, and the same coat shade his son had inherited from him. He waited patiently for the other to come, still keeping an eye on things. It was a quiet day here, and thankfully Silvance was nowhere to be found - for now.

The summer sun glinted off his horn, which made his eyes squint. ~Well, at least it's not cold! My wings can enjoy the breeze when i'm flying~
Vohamanah kept looking around. Then, his eyes found a familiar sight. The purple.. and the tiger stripes. Was that his uncle? No... As he drew slightly closer, he realized that was his granddad. Originally, Vohamanah came to find Glory. However, now that he saw his elder kin, he thought maybe this was better.
He trotted up to Kahaina. "Why hello there!" He fluttered his wings and shook his head to the side to move his hair out of his face. "Thought it's been a while since I came. I also needed a little walk.. Needed to vacate the premises of my teepee."
He gave a sheepish and meek smile at the saying he had to leave the area. He had taken to enjoying to just follow Sohalia around all the time, sniffing her hair. Something about her scent. It subdued all his senses and his will.

Kahaina bowed his head to his grandson, chuckling quietly. "Sounds like you're having a great time. Is it spring cleaning, or is someone being moody?" He tilted his head slightly curious.
He chuckled a moment, shaking his head slightly. "In more serious matters, we all need to get out and stretch. I do, sometimes. But today I felt like relaxing and staying here in the cool shade of the trees. Aside, most of the others are out and wandering and I'd rather not leave here unattended." He gave another quick scan. There had been the howl fo coyotes in the area a few nights back and he was uncertain about some things. Having them raiding the camp would be unpleasant to say the lease.

Vohamanah had this semi goofy smile on his face. His eyes looked up at Kahaina brimming full of his normal optimism. He then got a grin as he was about to tell him all about it.
"Well.. There's this mare... and... I met her about a few weeks back. Anyways... I brought her to stay with me at the teepee. She is a bit feisty at times, but usually she's pretty quiet and withdrawn. I think she deep down wants to be more sociable.. but I think it'll happen when she's ready."
Then he lidded his eyes for a moment and his ears flicked, noticing Kahaina listening out for something. He tried to listen out too. "I dunno.. She got kind of miffed with me after I introduced her to mom. Well.. I mean.. I knew it would be a tad on the awkward side for her. I guess she's not normally as sociable with others right away as she was with me. I guess I just assumed they would get on together."
He flicked his tail. His mind wondering about Sohalia's thoughts and intentions. His altruism wouldn't surrender to the thoughts of realistic thinking. No way... He knew if he just kept his faith; things would turn around in his favor soon enough.

Ahhh, so his grandson had found a lady, and tried to introduce her, as Mythril had Gabriella... and that didn't go well, and she was... well, as she was. He'd knowna good deal of ladies in his time, all very different from one another. Glory was certainly spirited and ambitious and full of life, but she had her quiet moments too.
"Well, the first thing to understand about women is... they're different then us." He chuckled, realizing how silly that sounded in a way. "That is, their moods are different from ours, and they're prone to feeling differnt about things then us - how we say something - and mean it - can be taken very differently. I've had thigns I've said taken wrong before ... sure we can do it to one another, but they seem to take things very differently."
H e walked a little through the clearing, stretching. "How does she feel for you? Has she said anything specific?"

Vohamanah listened. He could feel the wisdom in his heart that while still a bit immature (the wisdom); it incurred to him to listen to what this elder kin has to say. It never occurred to Vohamanah ever that anyone else interpreted anything he said or did other than the way he did himself. Of course, this was in part his presumptuous nature.
Vohamanah flapped his gums together as though chewing on an invisible piece of straw. "Hmm.. Well.. I know that she often mentions how she isn't normally so open about stuff. Like.. When we first met, she told me her name and other things about her personality. Then, afterwards, she looked like she was mad at herself for saying so... Then, she said that she doesn't usually talk that openly with others."
He looked from side to side trying to recall their trip from where he met her back to his home. He thought about the first night he brought her home. When it was just them... Then he looked back to Kahaina. "Well... when I look in her eyes.. I can tell that she must at least want to believe in me. But oh, gramps... the smell of her hair is does something funny to me."
After saying that last bit, his nostrils flared a bit as his eyes glossed over. Even the thinking of her scent set him into a passing moment of feeling hot and bothered.

Kahina nodded, listening to what the young one had to say, and then thinking about it. It was obvious he was compltely infatuated with her, and at least they'd talked rather then completely going straight into things - a lot fo regrets could come of that.
"Well, you'll have to giv her some time of course to become completely open. If she's usually reserved and doesn't talk much, don't push for things and take time. She sounds just like she needs to adjust. Change isn't easy - it took soem time for me to adjust fully to having a family to raise. I was.... uncertain at times." He chuckled quietly, closing his eyes a moment.
"Your grandmother can do the same thignt o me - it's just the way women are." He snickered then, shaking his head. "Just try to control yourself until she's ... well, she's ready. Rushing into thigns unprepared can hurt things - and you seem to like her alot. Trust goes both ways, so it takes time for it to form on both sides. You'll know when everything is alright."

Rushing... Was he rushing? Was he being a tad impetuous? He hadn't really thought so, but then he could be known for getting caught up in a moment. Was he a bit like his father in that regards? His father had always been recalled to Vohamanah as quite a capricious fellow in his time as well.
His mind started to roll into thinking about this effect she had been having on him. He felt relief to know it was completely normal, not that he'd think something seriously bad was going to come from it.
Feelings... Not to rush her.. give her time... He looked up at Kahaina. "How do you know when your feelings are more than just... wanting to ... Or um.. How do I know that it's not just my body talking? How do I know if she's the one for me? Or.. is that the same...?"

Kahaina gave an actual laugh then, amused. It was a truthful question, but it was still amusing all the same. He was thankful his brother wasn't here to answer that one - that definitely wouldn't help, since Crowley always thought with things other then his heart - although maybe that'd change one day.
He turned and looked at his grandson, looking serious again. "There is a difference - a clear one. The desire to be with someone for who they are, how they are... that is love. One can want them for the feelings of the excitement, that happens and is natural, but when you want to be with someone for more then that, to be with them as they are... that is love. Love is a feeling of wanting somone for ... well, everything. To talk with, to cry with, to laugh with... to spend time with without words and just enjoy one another's company without doing anything..."
He trailed off, a somewhat distant look in his eyes as he remembred that one night with Glory so long ago, when they chased the stars. "When you can be content with the world just ot be there, and you would do anything for them... there is no question then, it is love. To give up things, even perhaps your lfie to protect them. Love comes in many forms, but the truest one - that lasts - the all of the above. If you have it, treasure it. Your grandmother and I ... it took us awhile to realize it, to come to terms with it, and accept it. And then we were happy." He flicked his tail, the gold and silvery strands flicking out a moment. "She may still be searching her heart, seeing if it is how she feels. Just because one is in love doesn't mean the other is, as hard as that is. My brother... he still is learning this." He chuckled quietly, shaking his head. "Love sometimes is hard to understand... I didn't realize it at first either. I doubt most do."

Vohamanah was hanging on his every word. He felt like for some reason; he had never a conversation more captivating than this. Why was that?
A feeling of wanting someone for.. everything. He listened to a list of examples, and all of them were things he felt were true. Giving up ones life to protect another; not that he wouldn't. His optimism assumed there would never be a need for it.
"This is very profound. It is no wonder some people spend their life searching for love and trying to understand it. Somehow some find it by accidnet.. and some never find it at all no matter how much they try. It is an odd thing. I guess it's like trying to ride the wind. "
He knew that flying on the wind at times was beyond all comparison, but he also knew full well that sometimes if the wind was a bit fell, it could lash out with great malice. Every soquili who flew could rue the times they were beaten up by the wind while having not yet landed.
"I would bring you to meet her, but I think that'd be even worse than it was when she met my mother. She really just isn't ready for all this family type thing." He knew this was who she was.

Kahaina felt a laugh coming on and let it go, amused by the comments of 'riding the wind'. Being ground bound for his whole life he couldn't wholly comment on it, but he'd heard of Glory's exploits once trying to fly. He had to admit, it sounded like a wonderful thought and feeling, that freedom. Well, he DID hear about it often enough from Zikeria, the wind Soquili.
"I'm not asking for a rush to 'meet the family' or at least the mate... in time, yes. Although I don't know if you want me to break the news or not." He peered about, certain no nosy, prying ears were about. Particularly those white ones of his daughter's. No doubt she'd have a field day with the information. "All in time, when she is ready, or you or they... I'm patient enough. I don't plan on dying any time soon." He chuckled heartily, mirth in his eyes.
"As I said, patience and time sounds like what are needed here. If she's truly caring for you, it'll show through." He nodded his head, certain of things. "She just needs to accept things, and be able to accept that things do change, too. It si natural, but adjusting is not always easy. Be there for her when she wants it, but respect when she wants distance, too."

Vohamanah listened, bobbing his head every so often in affirmation that he had been in fact listening.
To be honest, when he thought about the idea of waiting, it seemed to bother him; but when he asked himself what he was in a hurry for, he wasn't too sure.
He surmised he too was still putting his feelings together like a puzzle. Then he looked over towards Kahaina. He felt rather comforted by this talk. It would seem that all he and Sohalia were going through; most went through it. It was a natural course of life. That meant he would arrive in a place where the answers come together. He then smiled.
"I did notice something. When I introduced her to my mom, I noticed as my mom was walking away. Mom said she had been visiting grandma's herd with father. She left early on her own. I guess she is a type to need her own space and quiet time too."

Kahaina listened, taking it in. He was vaguely aware of something that had occured, and perahps it affecting Gabriella, but ti was ot something spoken of, nor dwelled on. To him it was merely another sign of dark times. The world's shadows were creeping out, but lights were rumored to exist as well now. It was so much more complicated now...
"Well, everyone needs their space and time to think of things, even after finding love. Not everything can be open between people, as everyone sees things differently, and copes with them differently."
He paced slowly, eyes watching around a moment. "I always concern about the family, how everyone is. Your aunt and uncle, Silvance and Agate, Mythril and his mate, you and your siblings... the others who come and go from here too, and even my brother. I don't always admit these concerns to others, but I do dwell on them." He sighed a moment, flicking his tail and twisting his ears around to listen.
"And sometimes we just need alone time to reflect on things and be in tune with ourselves and without distraction. Everything has a time to need someone and need to be alone. It's almost natural. Even the predators who stalk alone across the plains... even they have their time for company and a time to be alone." Not that he hadn't kicked a few for getting too nosy near him, but like Soquili, certainly they had their times too.

Vohamanah's curiosity was starting to get to him. He had noticed even as he was arriving. His grandpa had seemed almost slightly on edge. Like he was on a watch for something.
He had started to feel since he was so grown up now.. Finding a girl and all... Maybe he could demonstrate his strength and sense of valor. He grinned always in the optimistic of spirits.
"So, what you on the look out for? There been trouble around here?" He arched an eyebrow. Maybe he'd have an adventure before heading back to the house. Was it ever considered a rite of passage for soquili? To stand guard for their herd?
It did seem something befitting for his step brother. Himself? He never considered being the one who stayed. He always was on the run looking for who he could help.
