What do you use during your periods? Pads, tampons, reusable pads or a mooncup or something else, what?

I'm asking this because we all know that pads and tampons make loads of waste that can't be recycled and that's not too good for the planet. There are loads of options for those.

I myself use a mooncup. Mooncups are I think the most efficient in all ways. They are easy to use once you get the hang of it, they last for many years if you take care of it right, they're vegan and they pay themselves back really quick if you quit buying disposable tampons and pads. The prices are around $40 I think but think about how much money you use to buy disposables this year, how about your whole lifetime?

So, let's have a conversation ^.^

Oh, and here are some links:

I'd use one of those cups. But I'd have to get my dad to order me one online and my mum thinks 14 and a half year olds shouldn't use them.

Oh gosh gonk Don't tell me she thinks the cup is going to take your virginity or something?
There is no age limit to use a menstural cup. Make some calculations and show them to your mom. Like [(price of the pads) x (how many packages you have to buy a month/week) ] x 12months (or 52 weeks) = $$$$
Menstural cups are easy to use, though take some time to get used to using them and learning the basics but are very handy and they have no connections to TSS. They're totally safe + they don't turn into a pile of unrecyclable waste. Try to reason with her, and your daddy if needed.

I use pads currently. I want to buy some of the reusable Luna pads but I'm low on cash as a unemployed, full-time student. I've never been able to use tampons or an insertable cup, like the Diva cup because any amount of penetration makes me extremely dizzy and nauseous. Luckily, I now have pretty light periods (and only for a few days!) due to one of my medications so I don't use many pads.

I never knew there were reusable pads. Hm... I'll look into that.
But currently I use regular pads. I am too afraid of tampons and I think I'd be afraid of cups, too.

I use tampons during the day and pads at night. I would use the cup-things, but they scare me. sad

I feel bad for all the waste. I'll have to get over it and use cups (or at least OB tampons).

like the Diva cup because any amount of penetration makes me extremely dizzy and nauseous.

This happened to my sister when she tried it; I have no idea why that would happen, though.

Maybe if you're scared of trying cups you could...er...*cough*...masturbate more? eek I'm not a perv, it just seems like a reasonable way to get used to having something in there...

I use a Diva Cup, and I used to have a Keeper (thought I lost it). After it gets settled in there, I can't even feel it. It's kind of awkward to rinse out, but you get over the grossness.

You really can't feel it at all after you've inserted it there. You v****a doesn't have too many nerves inside it (if there would be, having babies would kill you...) so there is hardly any sense for touch in there. Mooncups are 100% sure, because the cup creates a vacuum that pulls the blood into the cup, nothing gets past it. No more worrying about leaking when that is impossible. ♥

I use tampons only because my mom is really against diva cups for some reason.
One of my friend uses them though, and she says they're amazing.

Since I currently suffer from vaginismus, I can't use the cup, even though if I could I would jump on that in a heartbeat.

Also, yay for old topics!

I love my DivaCup. When I use it, it doesn't feel like I'm on my period at all, as far as the mess goes. And I don't have any PMS symptoms or anything thanks to a vegetarian diet. whee

I've always used pads... I find the squick factor is too high for a Diva Cup, though I've thought about it. I know it's bad for the environment, but I think that's just one of those things that I don't know if I can get past.

Will you find me a blue rose?

Okay, hopefully someone can answer this question. I use Playtex Sport (regular). And how much wider is a Diva Cup in comparison to what I use?

my mom actually will not let me use reusable pads, however I have saved several patterns on how to make your own that I will put to use when I am out of the house wink xd
