Chaka followed Kabichi as they walked to their respective homes after hunting. Both walked in relative silence, empty-pawed, before Chaka spoke.
"So, you have cubs? What's that like?" The leopardess asked idly.

Kabichi chuckled at the topic.
"Me? I enjoyed raising my boys." The lioness rumbled. "Their turning out OK. I just fear for them when their manes start to come in."

Chaka blinked.
"Oh? Why's that?"
The leopardess paued to drink at a stream, keeping her eyes on the lioness before rising and scampering after the other, moving rapidly.

Kabichi laughed, plodding along.
"I met their father when we were that age. We had cubs very young."
Kabichi sighed, remembering.
"Still, I'm proud of them. Their good boys, overall."
The lioness felt pride in her litter then, and smiled.

Chaka followed.
"So re they going to grow up big like your mom, or small like you?"
The leopardess flicked her tail as she followed idly.

"I suspect they'll be like mama. Their already large for their age."
Kabichi sat on a rock.
"Mama said I was born early, actually."
She was quiet, grateful her boys seemed to have mostly happy lives. Aside Haki hurting Taichi's feelings, or Vaskezu causing Melhor headaches, they got along OK. And this made her happy.
"That's why I'm so small, anyhow."
Her mind trailed back to her cubs, rumbling happily.

Chaka pondered, then shrugged.
"I wouldn't know, I guess."
Seeing Kabichi not moving, she looked up.
"Are you going to be there a while?"

Kabichi nodded.
"Yeah. I think so. Thanks for the hunt." The lioness smiled at her friend, and settled to musing, eyes focused on the sky.
It was so peaceful.
Kabichi, for once, felt unafraid.

Chaka nodded.
"Anytime, buddy. ... I'm going to go home, then."
The leopardess turned, padding away silently. She mused on what Kabichi had said about cubs, and the day.
It was alot to chew, and she slowly moved down the hill when she heard a scream.
The leopardess spun to look back, and turned pale.
Kabichi was gone.
