Winter Arena

User Image

Description: As one walks in, they will see that the arena is now a lot smaller than the previous one, seeming to be starting some type of pattern. Now, the fighting area is only 100 yards in diameter, the ground covered in two inches of snow over soiled ground underneath, and the temperatures being a cold 20 degrees Fahrenheit, despite the ceiling being open with the sun shining down. However, there is no sign of a designated platform, meaning the entire area is pretty much game. 25 yards from the stands each are 10 feet blocks of ice, designated at each corner of the arena, blocky with no definite shape, yet can be stood upon with the right footing. The blocks are so thick, however, that breaking them is not something of ease, or melting them. In the middle, with a diameter of 30 yards is a sitting pool of water iced over with a nice firm sheet of ice, the water underneath being 10 feet deep. However, if it takes too much stress, the ice can easily break.

Ten Count Boundary: The ten count starts as soon as someone goes over the twenty foot wall into the stands, or into the pool of water. If a person is already in a counted area and the other fighter enters in, the count is reset. If a person is being forced to stay in a counted area against their own will, for example, by being binded by an indirect attack (such as vines, tendrils, etc.), then the count stops. However, the count continues if a person is using their own body to keep the other fighter down AND have no part of their body inside the fighting zone (as well as being at least five yards away from the fighting zone). In this case, the count is being counted against both members.

It didn't make much sense how he'd lost in the last round, but...a match is a match. Guess lady luck was never on his side in the first place. A draw with a slight edge for one foe would've been more logical from the swordsman's standpoint, but, meh, he'll be making up excuses then if this train of thought continued on like this.

Time to suck it up, and just see how far he can go with this one.

So again as the swordsman walked in to this second bracket for the upcoming fight in a dull mood, it wasn't surprising that few spectators were here to see the glamorous struggle of foe for third place. Figures, since the popularity of the winners was more, unfortunately, appealing to the general mass...
He took in a whiff of the cold, biting air, letting the icy frost tingle his nasal and lungs with that slight, knify edge.

"Ahh...."

Time to get to work. With a wave and a shuffle the swordsman unsheathed both blades this time for this round, walking towards one of the nearby block of ice closest to him and stabbing his left blade a few centimeters into the hard substance. A breath of released air escaped his lungs, and he waited for his foe to arrive, the weapon starting to shimmer and glint in dull rhythm.
In the meantime, he was in a left side stance, using the block of ice as a temporary means to protect his left flank in case the foe decides to attack immediately upon entering this arena.

Snow may not be having much of an audience, but the other fighter surely did. The masses were piled up in their stands with banners saying "Roja Rocks" and "Luche Libre Queen" being held up, cheers and other bustle spreading from her side as they awaited the arrival of their star. Although Roja no longer could go for first place, she still had a chance at the top three, and if it meant getting her face out there for the public to see, then so be it.

Snow may have been awaiting for Roja to come from the entrance, doing her cheers and grand entrance, but this will not be her runway into the arena. Instead, a loud scream erupts as the sliding of metal scrapes along concrete, something zooming fast down the steps in the stands. The cameras zoom in on this strange thing, distinguishing it as someone with red hair wearing snow goggles over her face, along with a skin tight black and red suit that those of the skating world usually wore to decrease wind resistance, hands gripping the edges of what looked to be a makeshift sled, sliding down the slope of the steps at a rapid speed.

"WAAAAHOOOOO!"

She was not stopping, the crowd going into a louder cheer at the spectacular entrance that their star was making. She was heading faster and faster to the edge until she finally goes flying out into the air.

User Image

"HEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAWWWW!"

It appeared that the sled she was riding on was actually a folded up metal chair, taken from somewhere in the back before she arrived here. Moving her knees forward, the furniture made chair follows, acting as a shield as she flies at her opponent. If he was not too stunned to see her making an entrance such as this, he will see that she was about to come bashing into him like a car with a chair heading for his head and the rest of his upper body.

This was the second time someone tried to do something outlandish as an entrance to this fight. Having experienced it first hand in the previous encounter by a dragonkin foe, he wasn't too surprised that the trend continued on -- especially from how this arena is designed.

And, since he wasn't in the mood to be courteous...
The scream was a dead giveaway to Roja's entrance, the swordsman already turning his head to look at the girl slide down the slope towards his present position. Having more than a few seconds to spare, he twisted the blade impaled on the thick block of ice slightly, small sections of ice coated the blade's lethal edge as he shifted to a side stance - right side facing the incoming foe.

The knees were slightly bent, the large cloak hiding most of his body movements as to how the swordsman would react to Roja herself.
And timing his strike...

As soon as Roja got close enough, he suddenly pushed off with his right leg, kicking against the block of ice with enough force to propel his entire body clear to the right of Roja's incoming charge. At the same time he kicked the left blade impaled in the ice was yanked out with little effort, careening in a clockwise arc towards Roja's back/right torso once he lands on his left foot, using his toes as a fulcrum to increase the speed a bit so it would land at her back and cut at the skin.

Even if he were to miss the strike, he would intentionally have placed himself nearly immediately in a defensive stance if the girl were to counter, in some ways he could probably guess.
Especially with his right blade on the ready.

Roja was going at speeds well over 20 mph, so by the time Snow would have his sword come around to try to nick her, the girl would already be gone, sliding across the snowy ground as the speed decreases from the gathered friction, snow shooting up behind her. She was heading toward the icy pond in the middle of the arena, kneeling on the chair as it continues until it finally slides to a stop a few feet away from the iced over water. The luchadora grins, standing to her feet while bringing the metal chair up with her, holding it with her sole right hand as her left raises her goggles up to her forehead.

She turns around, looking toward Snow, who is a bit further away since she slid so far, examining her swordsman of an opponent. Instead of seeing her eyes, he will just see these white designs on Roja's mask that resembled eyes themselves, the wrestler looking through them at the fighter. Since her presence was known to him and everyone else, it was time for the fight to start.

Roja starts a slight jog toward Snow through the snow, having her left hand join in holding the chair to her right. It takes a few seconds before she is going into a full run at him, the chair ready as her own weapon. She could already picture herself bashing him over and over aside the head with her metal weapon, reminding her of her times in the ring at the wrestling federation.

It was a tried shot, and the swordsman knew well that it might miss the first time. Just to warm himself up on his own reaction speed, the hands gripped loosely on both his blades, cocking it in place and keeping it steady as he returned back to his left side stance to confront the girl.
Left blade held pointed towards the girl, and the right pointed to his own respective right, horizontally level to his hips and parallel to the ground. Whether or not the girl is using the chair as part of a weapon or not matters not to the man. All it was is just an obstacle that he'll have to slash past, before dealing the blow in counters and encounters.

Focus. He reminded himself in the meantime, a cold front of small ice starting to swirl and revolve around both his blades. With a flip of his left blade to a reverse-dagger hold, the eyes narrowed --

Readying himself to confront the girl, while he charged up for a possible strike that will be hard, quick, and especially painful on impact.

As his ice charged through his swords, she charged up the tension within her muscles, ready to use the chair as a club. The snow crunching under the weight of her feet, she gets into a considerable range, then swings with all her might toward his body. Sword or not, she wanted to wack him with full force at his head, the two feet of chair having the flat back part of it being the part she is attacking with. She could tell he was some type of ice user by the way he was manipulating the element already, but she had a feeling fighting him in his own home field advantage was going to be easier than it looked. She was hoping that only her lucha libre skills will be enough to take him down, but if she had to, she will result to her other artillery.

In a sense, there was still the rules employed. And, to compensate for his lack of...in a better term, elemental skills, some means of deception is required.
While the girl - surprisingly - didn't change her course and went for the swordsman's head, he quickly raised his left arm up defensively in a slant, a metallic object worn underneath the cloak revealing itself to be a form of bracer that met up against the hard impact of the chair. Giving it a slight slant up allowed the impact to diffuse itself upwards and reduce the force to a partial extent as it clanged against his gear, giving it a good echo amongst the icy arena.

At the same time the chair struck his body twisted slightly to the right to further lessen the impact, his right arm cocking backwards as if implying a possible stab --
Before a surge of ice shot straight out from the tip of his right blade and went for a brutal slam towards her main body instead.
To be precise, the liver. Not lethal to cut through flesh like his sword, but enough to knock the air out of her lungs in a rather painful shot, provided if her anatomy is like a human. The impact would shatter after contact, and provided that if she dodges or tries to get closer he could follow the strike through with a more precised stab at her body depending on her reaction.
But if the strike was to land, regardless if he has the upper hand or not afterwards, the swordsman would quickly retreat out of her reach to put distance between him and her.

Method?
By shuffling a few steps backwards, at a moderate pace.

The sound of the chair impacting into his body filled her ears with the song of battle, despite that he managed to block it, her feet slowing down as she comes from her run. She will be moving off to the left of him, though keeping her facing to Snow, so the blast of ice from his sword will miss her as it passes by. This time, she seems to toss the chair his way, leaps up into the air, and performs a spinning back left kick into the back of it to slam more force into his body, the crowd going wild upon seeing one of the usual moves Roja was famous for performing in the ring. They really were feeling more like they were at a wrestling venue than at a skating rink, Roja feeling the same way, too. Whether he would block the chair again or not wasn't the factor, because it was truly meant to create some distance between them.

(( Tell me if I'm misinterpreting the move wrong. ))

Well blast. The attack missed.
But the swordsman wasn't going to let the girl have it her way. The right part of his blade was spent temporarily for the moment from its release, but as she went for a spinning kick to add more force to the thrown chair hurtled at his left flank, he gave his body a sharp left arc turn, using the soles of his heels for quick shifting. Only the left leg gave an audible motion on how he's bracing his stance to keep himself at balance while his weight is applied forward like a cushioner.

Aligning himself to keep his left guard up along with the reverse dagger hold in the meantime, he will then, at the same time deliver a diagonally upward slash straight towards her general body in midair with his right blade. Given, he'll be knocked back a bit from the force impacting his left flank, but by using the same method like the previous, he'll still be able to bleed off some of the effects and retreat immediately when deemed necessary.
And with the left flank keeping the airborne chair in check through the same method of defense, he wants to land at least one injury that would give her something to worry about before he retreats.

Her foot presses into the chair, reaction coming from Snow in the form of him keeping up his defensive arm, while also taking a little knock back. That knock back, along with her landing onto the ground a half a second after executing the attack will place her out of the air before he would turn to counter attack, likely knocking the metal chair to the ground. At this time, her back will be sort of facing him with her head keeping turned to the left to watch him with her eyes.

His sword slash will have the luchadora turn her body completely to face him while leaning away and spreading her arms to give the sword no way in hitting her. But this will have her step back into the block of ice her opponent had his sword stuck in at the start of the match. Looking upwards as he does his retreat, she turns, bends her knees, and leaps up onto the shape of the ice block. With quick climbing, she manages to get to the top of the fairly platform-like part of the ice block, getting back into a crouch above as she looks below at her opponent.

Grinning as if she was a monkey who had escaped her prey, she brings her right hand up, fingers moving in a taunting manner at him until they grip into a solid fist, and raise upwards, aiming the fist toward the ice block. She does not yet punch downward, but you could tell she was setting up for a big one.

Flimsy little b*****d...

A few mutters of inaudible voice escaped his lips, just mumbo jumbo --
But clearing his mind of any discontent and calming it, more ice gathered before his body with a dull hum.
Returning to his previous stance and looking up at the girl giving him a snide remark...

....All right.

He stabbed the ground with his left blade again slightly, a small rippling effect seen spreading around the surface of the snow as if it just turned liquid under his touch --
Before a burst of ice lurched out directly behind the girl without noise, the block of ice which she stood on flaring up with spikes aimed for the girl's back. More specifically, the torso/hip sections to maim and impale.

The initial stab he'd done at the start of the match --
The charge up which he'd kept on his left blade --
All in all to begin the use of the terrain to his advantage.

He was tuning himself to use the ice about his presence. Whether or not the girl planned to do the same via other means, the swordsman will show her that the name 'Snow', isn't just the only reason people call him often with.

The effect his sword caused caught her attention in the form of her being curious, only guessing what other type of ice trick he was capable of. It had not come to mind yet that his name fit what he was capable of, but she was too busy thinking about the fun of the fight to really pay attention to it.

"It is going to take more than ice to..."

Then an excruciating pain touched into her back, having her scream as it poked her. It would not impale her body that easily, being that she was tough as nails in bodily toughness. But the sharpness down cause some bleeding upon impact. Standing to her feet while turning around to see the spikes, she would notice the block of ice that was about to hit into her. Popping the knuckles of her right fist as she squeezes it, she punches forward, smashing into the airborne block of ice, breaking it into many pieces with the impact force.

"YAR!"

But she was furious he did such a sneaky attack against her. Without wasting anymore time with playing around with him, she raises her right fist, and sends it downward into the top of the large block of ice she stood on, causing cracks to form down the structure as a rumble vibrates across the standing structure. The power she delivered continues to travel down the rock until it reached the ground, which then, the rumble ceased.

The sight of Snow delivering such a Chilling blow delivered a slight change in momentum throughout the crowd. It started with one man dressed in steel plate armor standing up out of the crowd, his brown hair blowing around in the slight breeze of the stand, and gently clapping his hands. Quickly, however, it turned to a bit of a rally clap, starting slow and soft, but growing in intensity. As it reached it's climax however, it stopped, started again at the beginning, and more people joined in.

The man that had started the initial clapping had a massive black greatsword strapped to his back, the reason that he'd shown encouragement for Snow, and not for Roja. Snow was a bit of inspiration to all sword users, though the man who stood did not need inspiration; he was skilled enough. He just knew when a person needed encouragement in the arena, he'd gone through such things before.

So, as Roja made her move and the crowd on her side began to chant her name, the man in the armor chanted the opposing name, lifting his right hand in the air, fist closed.

"LET'S GO, SNOW!"

Another member of the crowd grinned as Snow finally got some applause and some cheering. This man happened to be on the front row and stood at an abnormally large 6'5". Those behind him disappeared as he rose to his feet and clapped his large hands together. A sword hilt could be seen over this mans shoulder as well although several other weapons were visible this one happened to be the only one not covered by the mans jacket.

The large mans golden eyes glowed brightly watching the swordsman's technique and as the other man in the crowd thrust his fist into the air this second man mimicked him and howled into the air echoing the first mans encouragement to the fighter.
