I can't decide if I want my next toon to be a Druid or a Shaman, both the Shaman's totems, and the Druid's forms intrigue me, and they seem to be equal in all aspects.
Can anyone tell me both class's (classes?) strengths, weanesses, and play styles for all of their talent trees?

Imagine this. You're fighting something five levels higher than you. You're in good leather agi and str gear, and in catform. You briefly hit your Rejuvination and Regrowth button, then pop back into catform. Suddenly, you're crit. Gotta get out! Instead of turning tail and running away without a mount, you hit your travelform button, and zoom away, leaving that ******** crocolisk wiggling furiously after you, doing nothing but eating your dust. You don't feel like fighting anything, but have to navigate through a cave to retrieve something at the end for a quest. Hit catform, and stealth your way through. You're doing an instance. Pre-60, all it takes is a gear switch, and you can tank, heal or dps no matter your spec. Your party loves the Mark of the Wild and you can Battle Rez, Innervate, AoE and CC.
Now imagine this. You're doing an instance with a great group of players. Your weapons are glowing, your party is loving the totems. If you're enhance, you cast three heals in an emergency and go oom. You Windfury crit for meh three times in a row, and suddenly, everything in the instance is looking at you. OR, you're fighting something five levels higher than you. You crit, manage to get a heal off, but its too much. You turn and run, dropping an earthbind to slow the mob down, cast Ghostwolf and get the ******** out.
Which sounds cooler?

With the new gear balance druids aren't that bad. Still have to put up with the down time. Resto on the other hand... I leveled resto and the only way I got through it was my friend was leveling a warlock at the same time. If you are going to level a druid go 1-58 as feral, muuuch faster(Less down time to drink).

I just looked up the spells for Druids, and I came across Starfire.
Is that spell Blizzard's version of a joke or what? I think I'm missing something in the strategy of a Balance Druid...

Starfire is one of their main spells in the rotation. It's amazing with T6 four piece bonus. Only reason we had a boomkin in our guild was IMP ff and their aura for our spoiled warlocks on Brut. I don't know much about the boomkins, best go read the forums and read up on them.

Edward Lock I've seen IMP in many forums, but I have no idea what it means, could someone help me out? "Imp" merely means Improved. She said IMP FF, meaning improved Fairie Fire, a Druid talent.

Ah, that makes sense.
So I've heard good things about Druids, how about Shamans?

Shamans are one of the best group healers. Our shamans always top charts on the majority of fights. Yay brain heal. There's always a demand for shamans as its the least played class in WoW. But one of the best support classes out there. Elemental shaman is fun two button smashing DPS. Enhancement is nice for 30-69 pvp(Res makes it so you can't Windfury people to death in two hits -.-) Great spec for PVE, not so much PvP become a walking target. Best leveling spec as you run and wind fury mobs to death quickly and without effort. Ghost wolf form at level twenty woooo! You get five hearths an hour. Yes I keep my hearth stone in my bags... And FROST SHOCK -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpoGKw6L4cM

Dang, both classes sound so fun... I'm guessing Druids are the most resiliant though, that adds points to them, seeing as I have the uncanny ability to make aggro jump on me by atleast twice the usual speed.

I'm biased when it comes to shaman, so take what I say about them with some salt. I really don't like playing shaman. I find them boring.
My boyfriend plays a resto shaman, and I play that shaman when hes not around sometimes, when I feel like giving it another shot. Resto isn't bad, you get Earth Shield which helps a ******** with healing, a little fast heal, a big slow heal, and chain heal, which quite frankly is pretty cool. On top of that you can buff the party with totems while keeping the heals up. You have Water Shield to help with your mana, and if you go oom, Mana Tide is ******** amazing, its like innvervate in totem form. There also isnt a lot of healing mail gear.
Elemental is perhaps the most boring spec ever, no lie. You spam lightning bolts. Yes, you shock and chain lightning when appropriate too, but seriously, you just spam lightning bolts. Its kind of cool, because your talents allow you to have a free lightning bolt that auto-crits every 3 mins, and theres a talent where you have a chance to immediately instant-cast another lightning bolt right after one you just cast, so the dps isn't bad. I just find it extremely boring. Also, its HARD to find good pve elemental gear. You'll be wearing a lot of leather and cloth.
Enhancement is, imo, the most fun a shaman can have with his gear on. You crit like a madman, and its fun seeing a lot of big numbers come up really quick. Windfury and Storm Strike, plus your shocks are your main dps. You're basically going to be wearing a lot of rogue and hunter gear. Shaman itemization is terrible razz This is probably going to be your best bet for a good enhance build. It specializes in maximum dps and mana efficiency for shocks. Also Imp Ghostwolf cuz why the ******** not. Remember, neither class has a threat dump, so you REALLY have to watch the threat meter, because its fairly easy to get aggro as a shaman.
Edit: Alternatively, this is also a good enh shaman spec. It sacrifices 2 points in Unleashed Rage and 1 pt in Imp Ghostwolf to give you 3/3 Elemental Devastation, which will, after a successful spell crit (shocks count) increase your melee attack power by 9% for 10 secs.

PvP Resto shammy with rogue, warrior and ret pallie.
PvP healing Drood with Lock, hunter and every other boring mix that relies on you outlasting the other team
For PvE a shaman can do anything a druid can do but better... well except tank.
Not to mention shamans get, elementals, self rez and TOTEMS! Aside from Draenai all the best races can be Shamans
Shaman > Drood all the way

I have a balance druid, only lvl 18, but hey. Getting from about lvl 5-14ish made me want to cry. Your bear form still has barely any attacks, your gear sucks, and you die more than you live. But being in a party rocks, i get to crit everywhere and spam wrath.
Shammys on the other handy, I only got to level 6 before i made a hunter smile They are pretty bomb, use cool spells. Reminds me of a balance druid, cept you dont die. (a lot). I would go shammy, either resto or enhancement.
