The large male grumbled to himself as he slunk through the grass, though the term, and action, didn't suit him well at all. For a male as large and bright as Zeus, he was more used to strutting through the grass, larger than life and twice as bold. But... well, sometimes it wasn't exactly easy to part ways with one of the fairer sex. The lady he'd left behind hadn't been too happy with him, so now he strove for a little stealth till he had put as much distance between them as he could.
Ah, well. Such is life, especially the life of a Rogue like him. He couldn't expect to have all the trysts he did without a little collateral damage. It didn't truly bother him, as much as the fact that a female thought ill of him. If she growled at the sight of his handsome visage, it was twice as hard to soothe her the next time he came acrossed her and was in the mood for her company.
When a tree loomed out of the flat savannah, Zeus made a bee-line to it and flopped down gratefully in its shade. Time to rest now, since he was probably far enough away that she wouldn't come looking to tear strips from his hide, or at least he thought so.

It was actually a rather pleasant day for Ashling. Aside from the little ruckus known was her 'adopted' son, she had very little to worry about that day. She'd settled him somewhere where he'd -hopefully- stay and not send her out on a hunt for him, then left for a nice stroll.
And a nice stroll it was indeed, there was just enough sun for it to not be hot, and the breeze cooled it down just a smidge more. In her mind, the perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold. But it might have been because she was white in color, which mostly meant the heat of the sun avoided her.
However, a moment of her annual 'ghost', her form of seer visions, looking into the distance gained her own curiousity, causing her to also look in that direction... there was something sitting over in that direction. It was...
She squinted a bit, before slowly walking towards a singular tree out in the landscape, with a 'companion' sitting beneath it, something she only really was able to tell once she was close enough to have been in a really -well- yelled earshot.

Zeus grumbled again to himself as he licked at one of his orange paws, working out a small bit of grass from between the toes that had been bothering him.
What to do now? That was the thought largest in the male's mind at the moment. He could lay here till night fell, then try a little hunting. He could hunt now and then sleep on a full belly... he could even travel some more to some place more populated, but that idea didn't really appeal to him. He'd much rather just lay here, and rather than make a decision, the stripped male let his large body flop over on its side in a small puff of dust.
"Could have let me finish that gazelle..." He said softly as his eyes drifted shut, refering to the meal he'd been chaised off of meer hours before.

Ashling slowly moved closer to the lounging body, pausing now and then to see if he'd move to attack her for invading his space. Once she was rather sure he wouldn't, she slunked into the shade of the tree and sat nearby, looking to the strange male with a degree of curiousity. She'd never quite seen a body with such a unique coloration. It was quite dazzling, if she were to think so.
"Gazelle...?" she whispered to herself, looking up and around for any herds of the beast, then frowning lightly upon seeing none of said beast.
The lioness again took great caution as she lifted one of her paws and prodded the larger male with it lightly, settling it between his shoulderblades then giving a very light jostle of a shove, before retracting it quickly. Maybe he was delusional from heat stroke?
He had such a dark mane she could have thought so. "Excuse me, sir... are you okay?" she asked in a lightheard, yet concerned, tone.

The heat was like a pressure on his body, but no, wait... that was an actual pressure, right on his back. Orange eyes burst open as Zeus rolled up onto his stomach, his head swiveling around to see what had poked him. He blinked as his eyes found none other than a lioness seating within touching distance. A confused frown hovered over his face, though it soon cleared and he chuckled softly.
"You must surely be an angel." He laughed as he relaxed, stretching a little to show off his fine physique. "You couldn't have walk here with steps light enough that I missed them... you must have floated down out of the sky! And, of course, such a lovely face could only belong to a creature of the divine."
The male layed it on thick as he looked over the lady that had come to join him, rather than the other way around. Unusual in his experience. "Might I ask the name of the lovely lady that's come to join this poor mortal?"

And having any sort of 'flirting' laid on her was obviously not something Ashling was used to, a very quizzical expression forming over her face as her 'sudden' appearance was given an analogy in comparison to an angel. Of course, due to the unfamiliarity of the flirt zone, a blush burned under her fur as she slowly set her paw back down, as though something in her mind was still functioning enough to let her know it was still sitting up in the air.
Of course, nothing could complete how flustered this made her as she stuttered over a various amount of things she could have said in response.
"I... I.....I.." was the first of the many things she tried to say, before her face would burn more, and she'd stop, trying to reassemble function. SO DIFFERENT! She was used to lazy males she had to try and prod into waking and getting up for conversation, or her 'son' who would claw the hell out of her face.
"An angel?" she finally stuttered then laughed lightly, before she coughed a little to reassemble herself. Well, if he'd wanted her attention, he'd be keeping it for a while with such sweet words. "It's Ashling..." she said, charmed by his little play, "And yours?"

Oh, how refreshing! His flirting was actually having quite an effect on a female, turning her into an adorably flustered little lady. It was gratifying, making all the hassle of life seem worth it. Ah, yes... this was what he lived for. If only all females were like this, he would be a very happy lion.
He smiled at her as he folded his paws before him, settling back a little. "Ashling." He murmured when she offered her name, his orange eyes closing as he savored her name like a fine piece of food melting in his mouth. "Ah, yes... as lovely a name as its owner." Zeus chuckled as he opened his eyes again.
"If the angel might wish to know my name..." He said as he pressed a paw to his chest. "Its Zeus. Humble, mortal Rogue and Vagabond extraordinare." His smile grew as he bowed his head low to her, giving her all the respect due a princess, goddess, or angel that he called her.
"Did you wish for something from me, my dear?" He murmured as he watched her. "I'm sure you have a good reason for waking me, and I'll do whatever I can to please you."

She fidgetted nervously as he seemed to consider her name. It was almost as though she were afraid he wouldn't approve. Oh those cursed sweet words, putting up a certain standard in her mind. A standard for -her-. Had she been anymore knowing, she would have been able to see through his smooth-talking and mannerisms, instead of being charmed by them.
But perhaps that was the lack of father to step in and be protective over his 'precious baby girl' talking.
The 'Angel' comment seemed to really get her, as she flushed again, fidgetting further. All the fidgetting sure made it hard to respond without sounding completely daft. "Zeus? That's a ch-.. CHARMING name." she stuttered a bit, then seethed internally. She'd grown out of a lisp only to turn into a stuttering -MORON-.
Once the spotlight was put on her (as any question put the spotlight on the one being inquired to), she sat rigid and laughed ever so lightly. "Ah, well... I just wanted to make sure you were alright.. you were talking in your sleep.." she pointed out, feeling rather embarassed to have eavesdropped over such a conversation, though only with himself, before she settled down in the shade next to him. "And you don't mind sharing your little spot of shade with me, do you?"

How cute... she actually stumbled over her words when he addressed her directly. She really was too sweet for words. The lack of a father in her past seemed to be to Zeus's advantage, since she might have learned to take a male's words at more than just face value if she'd had one. He did catch on that the little nick-name he gave her was having the most effect and smoothly began to insert it into his speach as often as was not too obvious.
"Why, thank you, my sweet Angel. I'm very proud of my name. A very powerful being once carried this name and its my hope that I might take after him, in some small part, by sharing it." What part he ment was illusive, but it was a safe bet that he didn't mean the ability to hurl bolts of lightning.
He blinked a little when she mentioned sleep-talking, glad she didn't know what he'd been refering to when he made that comment. He let her think it nothing, but a dream-induced ramble and moved on to the question. A broad smile curved over his face as he waved an orange paw, shifting himself to make sure she had room to lay. He didn't move far though, but positioned him in just the right way that she'd have to lay down closer than perhaps she might have naturally.
"Of course I don't mind! As a gentleman, I should offer to let the lady have all the shade and sit out in the sun, but its my hope that you will show your kindness and allow me to stay here. The blackness of my pelt just sucks in the sunlight and burns me up from the inside out... the shade is a blessing to me.

Another fidget at the 'angel' comment. "Oh? Well, your parents chose well in picking a name for you to try and live up to then, now didn't they?" she commented thoughtfully, being quite blissfully unaware of the namesake of the stranger, nor whatever 'traits' he could be talking about. Simply put, in her mind, he meant some wonderful person who was worth being like.
Which, dependant on a point of view, he was.
Ashling took the bait of laying nearby hook-line-and-sinker, settling in quite comfortably and seeming to pay no mind to the almost awkward looking closeness of the pair. Considering, it was likely she didn't even know there was a 'personal bubble' to be considered.
"Ah, of course you're free to stay." she bid, smiling, before turning her head to nod out towards the sun, then crinkled her nose a bit. "If it's hot enough for me to want out of it, I can only imagine out it is for you." she added, shrugging her shoulders a bit. "Guess it's the exchange that trees give us. We can't stand the sun, but they need it, so when they can they give us shade in exchange."

The orange male nodded as he shifted himself subtly closer to her, enjoying the intimacy of this conversation under the shade tree.
"Indeed. It gives me something to strive for, a goal and standard. Its always nice to have a guide in life." He chuckled softly, his tail gently flicking. At her permission to stay, he bowed his head in a dignified motion, a smile curving over his face.
"Thank you, Angel." He chuckled, stretching his paws out before him. "I rather think the trees don't care either way what we do. They just stretch their arms out to the sun in worship... what should they care if we stretch out beneith those arms?" A soft laugh broke from the lion, his head nodding gently.
"Your idea is interesting though. When did you think of it?"

She seemed content enough to rest her head upon one leg, purring (though lightly) at the company. Him getting closer? She didn't even notice (or perhaps just didn't note it) it, just putting her efforts into enjoying the conversation.
"Mmmm, Ashling or Ash will work in place of 'Angel' just as easily, I'd think." she commented, not trying to squash his gratitude, but moreso seeming to like the idea of using names.
Names were much more intimate anyways. Not that her goal was such.
"There are many things I would imagine would worship the sun, but not all can spread their arms out towards it." she commented lightly, before continuing on to answer his inquiry into her thought-patterns.
Oh, that little wistful smile must have meant something nice.
"I can't remember. I've seen too much, too many people, and followed one who doesn't truly exist." she explained, as if that made any sense at all. "And now and then that one has introduced me to others who don't truely exist.
But one of those many people, whether they were existant for me to speak to now or not, spoke of an 'Equal Trade' policy. If we don't give back, why should others give at all?"
Oh the intellect for the oblivious one.

Orange eyes watched the rather lovely female closely as she settled, either oblivious to his company or content with it. Not that he minded either way... any excuse to get close to a pretty girl.
"Ashling... a truly divine name, my dear." He agreed, amused that she would insist on her name. Perhaps his pet name was a bit too intimate for her tastes? For now, the lion dropped it in favor of making her that much more comfortable in his presence.
Zeus listened to her go on about her beliefs, inwardly find them strange, though they only made her seem that much more charmingly befuddled. Time proved again and again that females were delicate creatures, despite how they might look, and often couldn't be taken all that seriously. Which was good, since he didn't.
"These people that don't exist... they intrigue me with their view of the world that you share. Really, we give nothing to the tree that it can't gain on its own... I should think it would be just as happy living out its life in solitude than with us beneath it. Why should it care about our comings and goings?" A rich chuckle slipped from him, surprised to be speaking philosophy today with a lioness. Not that he hadn't before, but it was still amusing.

"We breathe." she replied, thinking that it was a logical enough answer. Perhaps another word of 'wisdom' from the voices that befuddled her own line between reality and the not-so-much real.
Thus was her curse as a seer.
"And we breathe until we can't anymore... and even then we carry something with us that the trees and savannah can take from us, until we are nothing.
And then we will no be born again, having given everything to the other life of the plains, jungles, and other plants. To offer up so much to the other beings of the land, in turn, earns us little more than shade in return."
Oooh.
Philosophical, no?
But she seemed content with such an oddly morbid idea, giving the area a curious glance about to check for her normal 'visitor'. Nothing at that time. No 'Visitor' or anything.
It seemed the ghost hadn't wandered away without her yet.

The ideas she posed were odd, though Zeus couldn't say that he'd never heard of them before. He might be a brute, driven by his love for women of all kinds, but he wasn't stupid or ignorant. He just chose to ignore that part of himself in favor of something more earthy.
"Well, that's all well and good, I'm sure, but I'm thinking that when we're dead, we'll hardly care what happens to the empty husk of a body we left behind, the way a butterfly breaks free of the cacoon that sheltered it for so long. I know I won't." He laughed off the heaviness of her words, shrugging off the philosophical to pick up the physical again.
"Why are you out here alone, Ashling?" He murmured, her name a like a caress from him. "Don't you have anyone by your side? Surely you aren't as much of an outcast as I am... which is why I don't have a lovely little angel like you with me." His smile was teasing, roguish. Maybe he could shift the conversation to something lighter, something more enjoyable.
