Blockbusters. He had no idea why a movie rental place would be called that. As far as he could tell there had been no blocks busted since he had gotten there. It didn't even have fighting. Although it did have a section for oriental movies.

Rudolfo frowned, looking at the men in skirts with sticks facing off. Maybe they busted blocks in those movies? Well, either way, it wasn't interesting enough to rent. Not that he had thought this through. He didn't even have a DVD player, he would have to take it back to Ignacio's, and wasn't there something he was supposed to be doing?

Oh, right. He needed to kill Shade. He was starting to get discovered by too many people. But on the other hand, what was one more night, huh? He could hang out with Iggy, watching movies, eating popcorn, or s'mores, or other things that ghosts never got to eat. He could be alive for a little bit longer.

He liked being alive. There were so many interesting things to do when one was alive.

It had been a couple of days since Irelia had moved in with the Darnells, and she had been quickly welcomed in to the fold. Now it wasn't just Wisp and Jace fighting about catty things, Irelia was too and she reveled in it. Their current fight dealt with the movie that they were renting, as it was movie night for the family. Jace wanted action, Wisp wanted girly stuff and Irelia wanted documentaries. They couldn't decide. So when Bea asked who wanted to go pick up the movie, Irelia swept in and stole the prize. She got to pick the movie that week, and it was better than Bea siding with her because she was still a guest.

Ramming her bike in to the rack, Irelia trotted inside the store, and went straight to the new releases. Most were idiotic movies about Ashton Kutcher being a moron, but some seemed cool. Unfortunately, none of them involved Ashton Kutcher. As Irelia moved down the rows, a familiarly tall person caught her eye.

Antony.

Irelia curled her lips in to a devious smile, and snuck around behind him as quietly as she could.

"Hey Antony, whatcha looking at?" Irelia asked, as loud as she could without causing a scene.

He had this one, he thought, turning with a smile. He was Antony. Think like Antony. Well, actually, that was pretty much impossible for Rudolfo. Even when he had been alive he had never once thought like this boy did. But he could fake it, right? Right. Iggy was Antony's best friend and he hadn't noticed!

Not very good comfort. "I'm looking for block busting," he said. "Even though this place is called Blockbusters I haven't seen one block busted yet. It's disappointing, really."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 09, 2008 8:18 am

"Block... Busting," Irelia repeated incredulously, peering at Antony is surprise. Sure, he didn't seem like the sort to be in love with film, but he was sure to know what blockbuster was. What the hell?

Playing along, Irelia shrugged.

"Why don't you try over there? Those movies are sure to have some block busting."

Irelia pointed to the romance section. Block busting, c**k blocker... Irelia knew that Antony liked to be frustrated but geez.

"So... Antony. Why are you picking up a Block Busting movie? Lonely?"

Irelia didn't know what was going on, but she wasn't about to read his secrets. Mostly fruitless in her opinion, he was the most boring teen ever. He was just trying to pull her leg. Badly.

"No, actually, I'm staying over at Iggy's for the week, so I thought we could watch a movie." Things were going smoothly, yes. She had no idea that he wasn't Antony. He was finally getting this down! He just had to sound a little dryer, right? Antony was always dry in his replies, afterall.

"What are you looking for?" he asked, glancing over at the romances and dismissing them off hand. Pictures of guys and girls smiling like idiots at one another didn't strike him as good entertainment. It was a male's instinct to avoid cheesy chick flicks, after all. No matter how old he might be.

Irelia narrowed her eyes. Antony never cared about what she was doing unless it involved him in some way, the narcissistic b*****d. So why the sudden interest?

"I'm staying with Jace and Wisp for... awhile. Its movie night and I have the ultimate power of choosing. I'll probably get something everyone can tolerate, finding something everyone likes will probably be hard."

Irelia walked down the aisle, back towards the newer movies. She picked up Alien Vs Predator Vs the Kraken but set it back down with a shudder. Not really her taste.

"So Antony, what kind of movies are you looking for? I think I'm getting Sweeny Todd. Wisp will hate it. Plus ten points for me and Jace."

"I'm not sure, yet," he said. "I think I want something funny." Which, surprisingly enough, was what the real Antony would have went after, as well. Growing up with a father like Shade didn't give a guy much taste for the "classic" movies such as Citizen Kane and Casablanca. Mel Brooks and Monty Python had always been more to his tastes.

It also explained why he loved Terry Pratchett. In his personal life Antony wasn't nearly the p***k he seemed to be in his public life. He was still OCD, though. Which made the fact that his shirt was slightly wrinkled in the back glaringly obvious.

This was a... normal conversation. They NEVER had normal conversations, Antony was usually killing a ghost or trying to kill Irelia with a ghost. So idle chit-chat was rarely a commodity either of them used.

"Antony, did you dad finally put you on Prozac?"

It was the only thing that fit. He probably tried to cut himself with his spirit blade at night, so miserable was he with his boring, perfect life.

"Actually I haven't seen my dad since this morning," Rudolfo said, looking through a few other movies and taking the time to glance at the back to see their plots. "So no, I don't believe I've been put on prozac."

He paused, turning to grin at her. "This one looks interesting, don't you think?" he asked, holding up a copy of "Ghost Rider."

Irelia snorted. Either Antony was playing a massive trick on her, or this wasn't Antony. And Antony was a stick in the mud so she was inclined to believe the latter.

"Are you researching, Antony? Going to try to have a flaming skull for maximum ghostiness?" She said this blithely, as if she didn't care how he answered. And she didn't. She just hoped he was distracted long enough so she could corner him. And take out her book.

"Ghostiness?" he asked. What? Wait, did she somehow know about Antony's special ability? Why would he tell a tiny little squirt like this? Or had she realized what he was, after all? He decided the best thing to do was joke it off. "It would be interesting," he said, looking at the cover again. "But I doubt it would be good for my clothes."

Yes, that sounded like something Antony would say.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 09, 2008 8:52 am

"You're right, it would burn your pretty, pressed clothes to cinders. Not to mention the havoc it would play on your lovely hair."

Irelia's book was in her arms, and she was reading it with a smile tugging at her lips. It was too bad that the guy, Rudulfo (idiotic name, Irelia thought to herself) was such an idiot, because he certainly had improved Antony's mood. And stuffiness.

Irelia had walked all the way over to the corner of Blockbuster, way from the entrance and the emergency exit. She loved confrontations. She thrived on them.

"So Rudulfo, you're taking your sweet time killing Shade." Irelia smiled with malicious intent. This was far more interesting that she could usually credit Antony with.

He jerked, stumbling backwards slightly, shocked at hearing his name spoken aloud. "What? Who are you?" he demanded sharply. his eyes starting to glow green. The aura was unnatural for the body, and it was hard for him to keep it up, since the body kept trying to reject it, but he had to scare her off!

"How dare you invade my privacy?" he demanded, wondering if the bluff would work. He had no idea what this body was capable of, when it came down to it. Could he knock the girl out long enough that she wouldn't rat him out before he managed to do his duty?

The others had guessed he wasn't Antony, but this was the first time someone knew who he actually was!

Irelia smiled serenely, and licked her fingers before turning the page in her book.

"Odd. You're leaking green," Irelia said, pointing to his eyes, "I'm Irelia, by the way, and Antony doesn't like me because I know his secrets too. If you are going to kill Antony's dad, you're doing a sorta lousy job of it. I saw him just a couple days ago, fine and dandy."

Irelia turned another page.

"So where's Antony? Like his soul or miasma or whatever. Will he come back? Or are you going to leave his hollow husk to die when you fail. Because I don't doubt you'll fail. There are way too many people around here with power for you to possibly best them all."

His hand shot out, far faster than he had expected, grabbing her throat and lifting her into the air. It was easy, choking her. She weighed next to nothing for this body, despite how skinny Antony was. He held her a good two feet off the ground, far enough away that she couldn't kick him with those stubby legs of hers.

"Antony is busy at the moment," he said coldly. "And until I've done what I came to do, I don't plan on letting him out." He smiled, a cruel little smile that didn't reach his eyes. "You see, even if there are people with power here, they'll still let him die. You want to know why?"
