The dry lands rejoiced after the downpour that had occurred just moments before. Hihali peeked her nose out of the makeshift shelter through the storm. She crawled out from underneath the abandoned meerkat den and shook her fur of the dust that had collected the day before.
She could see the vast number of water puddles that littered the surrounding area The pink cub smiled. Where there was water, there was mud. She ran to the closest puddle she could find and started to bath herself in the cool dark mud, covering her pink pelt.

Kya had run off as soon after the rain as she could, wanting to see what everything looked like after a storm. She had seen rain before, but not that much and not with such amazing sounds and lights along with it!
Pondering as she padded along, the young cheetah tried to think of a way to make noises that were loud and booming like the thunder. It would be fun to make a song that was like a storm.
Lost in thought, she almost didn't see the other cub until too late, jumping back with a little yelp when she almost stepped on the tip of a tail sticking out of one of the puddles. "Oh! Hello... what are you doing in there?" she asked, then, leaning forward curiously. She'd never seen anyone do that before! "Did you fall in?"

Hihali struggled to cover the back of her neck and hadn't looked up to the cheetah in her concentration. "No.....I..I'm trying to cover my fur." She said before she finally gave up and fell into the water, the mud that had collected on her fur washed off in the cool water.
She looked over to the green cheetah and smiled, "I was trying to get rid of this pink." she laughed lightly, "I guess I'll have to try harder."

A blink at that, and Kya sat down, curling her tail about her paws. "Why do you want to cover it?" she asked, head tilting a little. A bit of the water splashed toward her and she flicked tail out of the way - not entirely sure that she wanted to get soaking wet.
"Oh! I'm Kya, by the way," she said suddenly, not even really thinking to give her full name. "I live near here, just over that way a bit." Another flick of the tail, back the way she had come.

When all the mudd had washed off her fur she walked back onto the bank and shook her fur to get the excess water off.
"I don't like the color pink. It's too girly." she laughed lightly "Sounds kind of strange doesn't it?" She said as she sat in the grass, still soaking wet. "I'm Hihali, but my brother calls me Hali." She said as some water dripped from her ears.
"My brother and I are staying a few yards from here for the night."

Kya blinked at that, and shook her head a bit. "But you are a girl, right?" she asked, all innocence and sincerity. She hadn't ever thought about wanting to hide who and what she was. Or even not liking what she was. That was just how things were and she couldn't change it ... so why not be happy?
Ears pricked at the mention of a brother, though, and Kya looked interested, leaning a little closer. She had siblings as well, though she rarely saw them now that they were all old enough to wander on their own. "You have a brother?"

She nodded, "Yeah, but I'm just not that kind of girl." She said as she winked, and shook her head, causing water to fly everywhere. "I mean being around my brother all the time, I guess I've become more like him." She said, "Besides, it's my mothers color." She said with a little disgust. She hated her mother. After all, she left their father. She couldn't forgive that.
However, when she asked about her bother, she perked up. "Yes! He looks just like dad." She said, a little sparkle in her eye.

Kya blinked at that, and tilted head - not quite understanding what 'not that kind of girl' meant. Still, though, she didn't ask - figuring it might be kind of impolite. She did ask the next question that popped into her mind, though - blurting it out before she could help herself.
"What's wrong with being colored like your mother...?"

She looked away, and her ears lay flat. "Because she left..." She said coldly. "She left moth my dad and all of us after we were born. She was afraid of us. So she left." Not everything she said was true, but what other reason did she have for leaving the cubs to fend for themselves at such a young age.

Kya blinked at that and then her own ears flattened a little as she listened to the other cub. "Oh ... that's ... terrible," she said softly, taking a slot step toward Hihali.
Then she stretched her neck out and kind of nosed at the other. "Still though ... I don't think it's a bad color..."

She hrugged, "Eh... it happens." She said as she smiled back up to the cheetah, "I try not to let it get to me." She flicked her tail to the side, "If I do, I'll be like her." She laughed a little.
"Thanks." She replied at the complement. As much as she hated her pelt, it was nice to be complemented. She smiled lightly before turning back to look at the small den her brother had made. "I should probably be getting back before he gets worried." She said as she smiled back to Kya, "It was nice meeting you! Maybe I'll see you around?" She sakd as she stood and started to walk back to the den.

"Oh, uh sure! If you want, I'll probably be around here some other times," Kya replied quickly, with a smile.
Getting up, she watched the other scramble off and then wandered away herself after a few minutes.
(( Thanks for RP! <3 ))
