Haha Island

Haha Island was already a forbidden place to go, a dark and deadly place for anyone outside the Meho Clan. After the Black Spring events, the island became more of a haunted place. The violence of the events left the island partially if not nearly completely submerged. All living things have been practically, if not completely wiped out on this island, the only things alive being creatures that can fight to stay on top and stay alive.

In the village of the Meho's lived a girl born on the night of the red moon. She sat on the dirt floor of the shabby shack located near the center of the village. There in that musty room, she sat playing with dolls. Being twelve years old meant that she wasn't too old for dolls. Teizoku swore she would never be too old for dolls... The dolls that she made herself... The dolls she created out of the skin hides of those she killed. Tilting her head to the side, she examined her latest doll that she had made out of a young pirate boy that had landed on Haha Island. When she had stitched up the dolls, she had made sure to count in order to have an odd number of stitches, but now she was recounting to make sure. "171...172...173," she counted as her finger nail ran over each thread. "174..." she ended in. Those beautiful sunset eyes of her eyes narrowed as a fire began to burn in her chest. Her thing pink lips pursed themselves together as her muscles tensed up. "Mmm..." she hummed in anger as she slowly began to rock back and forth. "Mmmm!" she hummed louder as her hands squeezed the doll tightly. "NOOOOOOOO!" Teizoku finally screamed as she tore the doll apart, the fine straw packing falling on her dirt floor and creating a mess as she viciously tore the doll apart. The skin from the pirate was tough to tear since it had been tanned slightly, but in her fit, Teizoku was able to tear it up. Once her fit was complete and the doll destroyed, Zoku breathed heavily in anger and looked at her dolls. "6... I only have 6..." she said, her chest heaving up and down as she began to have a panic attack. Quickly reaching it, she grabbed the first doll she could get her hands on and tear it apart just like she had done the other. "Five... Five... Five..." she repeated to herself as she calmed down and sat back down on her floor to clean up the straw, skin and human hair she had torn apart. Grabbing the remains of her dolls, she walked out of her hut to throw it in the burning pile. As she did, she found her mother outside. "Where's Dad?" she asked calmly as if she hadn't had a fit of rage less than a minute ago.

Haha island sat on the edge of a knife, on the verge of all out war with Shimagakure. Their ninja's had come to the island killed Meho warriors and captured their Warlord. With the sudden loss of leadership they had suffered civil war as the Meho villages fought over who would become the new Warlord. When they could have united to retrieve their lost Warlord they instead fought amongst themselves till the new Warlord took power for his own. By this time word had reached them of the death of their old Warlord at the hands of the leader of Shimagakure. With the Meho's also suffering raids from unknown assailants the idea that this mysterious village was out to destroy was not to far fetched. The new warlord sent the call out the Meho would prepare for war. They would destroy Shimagakure and reclaim the body and the weapon of their previous Warlord. With all able warriors, including women and children being called to the once proud Jio capital for training life in the outer villages became tough for those who had so far escaped conscription. Teizoku's village had not yet been reached by the call to arms. Her father knew of it but he was away on the mainland and her mother, was busy just trying to survive in the small village. She took a moment from her work to see what was going on with all the noise, though she had a good enough idea. Her daughters condition was known to her, she'd lived with the looks of disgust from her own child at the simple sight of a pair of eyes. Ucra looked down to her child when she was asked where her husband was. " Your father has gone to prove himself to the Warlord. When he returns he will have a rite of passage that few Meho have these days." She spoke with great pride. Her husband, Rakkou was out to set in stone that he was a true warrior and there were few that could make that claim now that the Jio's had been wiped out. What was once done by all young warriors at a young age to prove themselves had now become near impossible to complete. With the sucess of her father it was impossible. The look of pride on Ucra's face was soon replaced by a look of worry. " You will see him soon enough Teizoku but now there is something you must do. Some wild beast has been killing our live stock, I know how much you enjoy hunting and if we don't kill this animal soon we will have no food left. " She gave the order to her daughter but paused for a moment before continuing quieter. " No other food than each other." It was a clear warning. If the food ran out the Meho would soon start preying on each other, they were no strangers to cannibalism.

Zoku bit at her lower lip as her mother told her that she would see her father soon enough. She wanted to see him now! Her father had never been away this long before. Wars and raids were quicker than this 'right of passage' that was being rumored around. "I will," Zoku said to her mother, saying that she would be off to kill the wild beast that was pillaging their food supply. Teizoku didn't care what type of wild beast it was, but hopefully a beast that would satisfy her welling rage inside her. Tearing apart those filthy dolls had not been enough to relieve her of the bad energy that was boiling over. Turning away from her mother, Zoku began walking towards the pen in the village. She would track the beast from there and find out what it was. "You'd be the first..." Teizoku said to herself under her breath to her mother in regards to no other food than each other. Zoku would have no remorse in eating her mother. It seemed her mother was easily replaceable since all women in the village could do what she did. Keeping her black haired head down, Zoku stared at her bare feet as she walked across the dusty ground to get to the pen. On her way there, she picked up a stick and cracked it in half, throwing one piece away. As she reached the pen, Zoku silently climbed up on a fence post without a word to the herder as she continued to break off pieces of her branch while waiting for the wild beasts to show themselves. If she remained bored, then she would begin searching for foot prints in the infertile sand.

the pig pen was just as her mother had said, near empty. There was only a handful of the animals still in the pen but the ones that were still alive were all extremely spooked. They squealed as they all desperately pushed at the fence at a point that was strangely directly opposite to the herder. The pig keeper was leaning over the fence apparently completely oblivious or uncaring to the squeals of his livestock. With such a lazy keeper it was no wonder the livestock had been prayed on so easily but something was wrong... It was more than just a lazy herder. His figure was unmoving and wasn't exactly leaning but more slumped like a corpse. The herder suddenly stirred, his body moving and then suddenly it dropped to the dirt revealing a figure that had been hidden behind the corpse. A man with skin hair and clothing all white as bone. It was like a ghostly figure standing before the young Meho with little more than a grin on it's face. The ghostly man kneeled before the corpse of the Meho pig keeper, never taking his eyes of the young girl not even as he freed an odd looking blade from the body. He slowly stood again, with that cold grin on his face and madness in his eyes. He brandished the strange weapon in one hand while he brought his other up to a parallel position. A sickening crack came from his arm, like bones breaking it grew louder as his arm twitched violently until the skin in the palm of his hand was being stretched outwards by some object from within his body. The skin broke away as a blade much like his first shot out from his hand. Twirling both weapons in his hands he took a few steps closer to Teizoku before he suddenly lunged towards the girl at a surprising speed. His odd weapons heading straight for the little Meho. they would tear her apart just like the pig herder.

Zoku backed away from the fence as the pigs went berserk as they threw themselves into the wooden fence that kept them caged and safe from wild beasts. The young Meho child looked to the herder as he did nothing. His look was placid and blank as if the chaos of the pigs were nothing but a mirage. Zoku bit her lip, angry that the lone herder was doing nothing. As she let go of her lip, the girl was about to demand that he do something, until his body slowly began to fall to the ground to reveal an adversary. With her sunset eyes, the girl stared back at the ghostly man as he knelt in front of her kinsman. The sounds of the weapon being pulled free from the corpse was juicy and savory, making the Meho girl a little hungry. She stood with her gaze focused on the man in front of her, eager for him to try and lash out at her. She wanted to gouge out his eyes... His eyes... His two eyes that were gazing at her. She wanted to rip those out more than everything. Suddenly, Zoku's entire body twitched as she heard a curdling crack come from his arm. Bones. It was the sound of bones breaking. Zoku knew that sound and she cringed. She hated bones and even the sound of them breaking. Bearing her white teeth in displeasure, Zoku covered her ears as the sound grew louder. She took a step back as the man's arm twitched violently. Zoku's eyes grew large in disbelief as the man's skin broke away to reveal bare bone. It came straight out of his arm. OUT OF HIS BODY! Zoku's entire body shook in fear and disturbia.

The bone man lunged at her with unbelievable speed. His first lunge had been so fast that she hadn't seen it coming. The weapon he had in his hand, the bone blade... It cut into Zoku's skin. "No-o!" Zoku choked as the substance she despised most cut into her skin and caused her to bleed. She grabbed her arm, clenching it tightly until her knuckles went white and her hand clammed up to the point she couldn't move it. Her chest heaved up and down in quick breathes as she began to hyper ventilate from being cut by such a substance. Her red blood ran through her fingers as she held her wound. It stung more than a cut should have. It felt as if her skin were melting from being sliced into by the surface of a human being's bone. Zoku wanted to claw at her own skin to get the feel of the bone out of her system, but she couldn't. Her wide eyes looked back up to her attacker. What was he? "You're..." Zoku managed to mumble out, not sure what to call him or what to say to him, but only to show that she was completely baffled and stunned by this man and his bones.

The attacker was so quick and Zoku was in such a baffled state she had never been in before the girl felt as if death was near. The potruding bones haunted Zoku's thought as she focused on her attacker's feet to see which way he would go again. The man was so fast that Zoku didn't have a chance to strike back. He was on the move again, attacking with the white ivory bones in hands. "DON'T TOUCH ME!" Zoku yelled as she braced herself and tried to run away.

The black spiky hair nearly blocked her vision as the white blade went past her face as she turned to run. Zoku's entire body spasm as she fell to the ground in fear. It had almost touched her again... The white bones. The girls hand dug into the ground as her entire body cringed at the remembrance of the cut in her arm. The pain. It still throbbed and it still felt gritty. Breathing in and out heavily, the Meho raced to her feet and ran to the fence. In a scramble she struggled to hop over it. If she weren't so frenzied, the feat would be easily completed, but since fear had been struck in her heart, she couldn't even place a sturdy foot on the bottom of the fence to hop over it. Quickly, Zoku turned back to see her attacker come at her once again.

"Eya!" Zoku yelled as she merely flopped over the fence as the downward swing of a razor sharp bone embedded itself into the wooden fence. It didn't take Zoku long to peer at the weapon as it was wrenched free of the wood and once again able to cut into her. "Papaaaaaa..." Zoku whined as she started to crawl across the ground on her hands on knees. It seemed the little girl that loved to murder wild beasts and make dolls out of pirates that landed on Meho territory had been reduced to a whiny and sniveling little girl that had a fear of bones. Zoku felt her disgrace and her pride as a Meho dwindle, but she was no warrior just as the men of the village had told her time and time again. As the sounds of the attacker's feet hit the ground, Zoku knew the man had made it over the fence. Attempting to get up to her feet, Zoku would try to flee once again.

As she failed to get up and move out of the way of the man with the bones, Zoku felt another sharp cut of the bones. Their sharp yet jagged edges ripped into her leg. Thankfully her tendons were spared and only a deep cut into her calf muscle hit. Zoku did not sound thankful as a blood curdling scream escaped her mouth as she hopped up to one foot. The pain was bad, but the painful thoughts of bones tearing her flesh were worse and exasperated the pain flowing through her body. The red blood streamed down her leg and arm as she put her hand on tall rock to lean upon. Now she couldn't run from her attacker. The Meho turned and faced the man with her wild sunset eyes. His eyes... Two eyes... Zoku focused on her hate for that. Insanity was beginning to tempt the girl to his side as the the thoughts of bones and eyes whirled around in her mind. The insanity gave feed to speed and Zoku dove out of the way of the two bones coming at her. The bones hit the rock as the man swung them down, letting Zoku escape!

The assassin's assault was stopped for only a moment as he stumbled from the botched attack. He turned back to the girl, the grin on his face hadn't changed one bit infact he seemed happier now that she had proved to be more of a fight than his previous victim. Whoever this strange bone wielding man was his lust for blood was exactly like the Meho but even Teizoku knew they had no such abilities. It was hardly time to figure out his identity, he had wounded the young meho badly and he hadn't even broken a sweat. The bone assassin shifted his stance and brought his weapons in front of him again, readying for another attack but instead of lunging forward he was jerked back through the fence by a hand grasped at his throat. As he fell back an elbow was brought down on the top of his head with a crack. The assassin was out cold but before Teizoku could get a look at her savior the pigs fled through the newly created hole in the fence.

When the pigs where gone and the dust settled a familiar figure stood over the body of the unconscious attacker. Teizoku's father stood before her. He was covered in heavy cloth, unusual for the climate of Haha. His face was exposed however and the look on his face was not particularly impressed, his only child had failed to defend herself not due to lack of skill but a crippling fear, it was a weakness none the less. Rakkou dragged the fallen assassin towards his daughter and lifted him infront of her. " You need to control your fear... Use the fence post, break every last bone in his body!" He instructed without even so much as a welcome, he hadn't seen his daughter for days and yet his only interest was making her stronger. " He's your kill to eat." He said as he took the bone weapon to it's owner and sliced the tendons in his arms. Even if he awoke now he would be unable to fight back as his bones were shattered and his flesh eaten.

Teizoku barely had any strength left to move out of the way of the oncoming attack. She willed herself to go, but the amount of blood and the weakening of her calf muscle just held her down. Zoku brought up her arms to try and block the death blow, but she brought them down when she felt it didn't come. Her strange eyes looked upwards to see a strong hand around the throat of the bone man. A smile began to cross her face as he dropped down the ground unconscious. As the pigs fled and caused a ruckus, Zoku looked around to see where her savior would come from. Once the dust fell back to the ground, Zoku looked up at a man she already admired. "Dad!" she cried happily, trying to stand up but failing with her first try. To not see his tanned skin and many tattoos was an odd site, but Zoku knew who he was from his exposed face. Once the look on his face registered, Zoku's happy outlook faded as she looked to the ground. As the weakened body was brought over to her, Zoku refused to look at it as her father lifted up in front of her. If Zoku had known her father were near... could she had held in that fear? "Yes, father," Zoku managed to say as she heard the flesh being ripped by the bone weapon once again. It made her cringe and grind her teeth together, but she stood up and gimped over to the fence to grab the post as the elder Meho instructed.

The small weathered hands of the young grab wrapped around the fence post. With a mighty tug, she flexed her muscles to pull forcing blood to run out of her wounds in the process. It was painful and made her feel even more woozy, but she would feast upon this creature that attacked her. The man was not longer a man to Teizoku. With his strange use of bones, he was merely a creature. With the post free, Zoku walked over to the man that had passed out from her father's fearsome grip. He was a strong warrior, a Meho given the rites to kill and carry the banner of their clan as he dined upon his enemies. Zoku wanted that more than anything, but she was a mere girl in the male world of the Meho's. Her father was disappointed in her, but she knew the disappointed rained from the moment she had been born. That would not keep Zoku from wanting the approval from her farther or stop her from admiring her father for his deeds as a warrior. Meho Dhan had been the strongest in the clan of the Mehos. Zoku had never met the man, but she knew that he was probably dead now, but her father still lived even after his attack on the Jio's. Raising the fence post high above her head, Zoku prepared to clobber those eyes out of this creature's face and so, she took aim.

Just as the fence post began its downward fall upon the Kaguya's body, Zoku felt her vision black out. The fence post dug into the ground beside the unconscious man, missing his face completely. "Uh.. Ha..," Zoku breathed in and out as she tried to steady her vision. This was not a feat she was going to fail. Her father stood nearby watching her with his judging eyes. The enemy was unconscious and Zoku couldn't even land a hit on him. Refusing to fall to her knees, Zoku used the fence post to steady herself. She had her balance, she had her head. Pushing off the fence post, Tanu stood ready to try again. Her father had never witnessed her taking out her prey and this was her opportunity to show him that she could be just as ruthless as any boy in training. Pulling the fence post over her shoulder, Zoku wound up to strike the fallen body with as much might as she could muster in her current condition.
