I guess I was popular in High School, didn't make me less of a loser.

Anyway, I wasn't unpopular in High School. I was known well by students and teachers. I was the "Is smart enough to do better but doesn't because he's extremely depressed" person. Also the "Should be playing football." dude.

I don't remember any bullies, Or any so called "Trench coat kids" either. I also don't like many labels that high school kids must put themselves under.

To answer your question: No I wouldn't trade my close friends for popularity. Even in High school and many other things I find Popularity completely and utterly pointless.

indeed, yes I have been "popular" and now I can say it is rather pointless all it got me was bullshit. sure the friends and girls were great but so many cons dropped the pros. grades that didnt need to fall, fights that should have never happended, the de-humanization of females which I saw as nothing more but sexual objects that in the turn cost me the one true love of my life...a girl named Raquel

but to answer the main question no I would not leave loserdom it's impossible since loserdom and popularity are lies, they dont exist ther just frames of mind, we all have friends so it doesnt matter if their "cool" or not, everyones cool in one way or another its just up to people to see it.
