She'd always been told when she was younger that you'd just 'know' these sorts of things and she'd never believed it. How could you just 'know' something without checking? But here she was, knowing, and now she had to figure out when would be the best time to tell Taya.
She didn't think he'd disagree with it, she really hoped that he was as happy as she was, but she couldn't just spring it on him. That would be mean. So she had to find some nice way to tell him that wouldn't be unsettling.
She thought she remembered him saying something about hunting while she was still napping, she'd been doing that a lot lately, and hopefully that's where he was since he wasn't where she could see him. Maybe she could tell him when he got back ...

Tayammum was none the wiser to the thoughts going on in the head of his beloved mate, and to be perfectly honest, he probably never could have even guessed what was going on. That was just the way his mind seemed to work, however. He knew stories, could imagine some of the most complex situations and tales, but things in life did seem to slip him by from time to time. Even then, it wasn't exactly easy for a male to figure those sorts of things out - at least not at first.
As it were, he had gone out during her nap, with the excuse of hunting. He wasn't truly that hungry, and instead had been out to find her a nice bunch of flowers. He wanted to do something nice for her, simply for the gesture of doing it and seeing her smile, and now was a better time than any.
Trotting back with as pleased a look on his face as he could manage around the great bunch of flowers he carried rather delicately in his mouth, he eyed the ground as best he could to follow the way back to where they had slept for the night. As she came into view, he grinned around the greenery that spouted from his mug, his pace picking up so that he could reach her quicker. Laying them down at her feet, he stood back up with a amusedly lopsided grin.

She'd thought about crawling up into the tree nearby to see if she could see Taya but thankfully he'd shown up before it had come to that. The flowers in his mouth were a bit of a surprise.
"Flowers?" She smiled brightly as he set them down near her and leaned down to sniff at them. They smelled wonderful and she wondered where in he'd managed to find them out here. She hadn't remembered seeing any the way they'd come from originally. "I never would have guessed you were hunting for flowers."

"Yes, flowers," he said with a pleased smile as he flopped down at her side, nuzzling his head against her shoulder before laying down entirely with a contented sigh. "I thought you'd like them, so I went hunting for flowers. It took me a long time to find all of those too."
He was really a romantic, at heart, and no wonder with all the stories he had heard and knew. It would probably be hard for him to be anything BUT a romantic when it came right down to it.

"You'll just have to add that into the next chapter of your story." She grinned and nodded as she poked though the flowers with her nose. He wouldn't know yet why it was nice to add that into the next chapter but she thought she'd make sure he remembered too.
"You know ... it being a special occasion and all." She leaned over and nipped at his ear lightly. "Not that you knew it was a special occasion, but it is"

"What special occasion?" Taya asked suddenly, his ears wilting at the n** as he look up at her with confused eyes. Had he forgotten something that was supposed to be important? Her birthday, or some other date he was supposed to remember? As she reassured him that he didn't know what the occasion was, he seemed physically more at ease, but no less confused over what she was talking about. He tiled her head at her, waiting for a reply, brows furrowed into a deep 'V'.

She smiled brightly, rather pleased with herself, and nodded. "Today's the day that you get to know that you will have children to carry on your legacy." At least she hoped it was children and not just one. It would be so much more fun with a big family to take care of. So many more ears to listen to Taya's stories and enjoy them.

He eyed her as she smiled, waiting for her words, although once she finally spoke he wasn't entirely sure he had heard her correctly. He stared at her for a moment, blank-faced, and as he replayed what she said in his head over a few times, his eyes eyebrows quirked and his eyes widened slightly. "What?" he said rather suddenly, spluttering it out, though as soon as the word was out of his maw, it spread into a grin. For a moment he just watched her in silence, and then the grin led to a peal of delighted laughter as he leaned to nuzzle his head against hers affectionately. "Really, Kinya, cubs?"

She smiled happily and nuzzled him back purring softly. "Mmhm ... at least i'm pretty sure so. Every thing's telling me so." So she had to be having cubs. There was no other explanation if her mind said she was pregnant and her body felt like she was then she had to be.
"You'll ... we'll have little sons and daughters to teach everything too. They can learn your stories and keep them going for you"

He nodded at her words, though the grin never faltered from his mug for an instant. "Well, if you know so, then you know so," he said happily, leaning his head against hers as he took a moment to try and figure this all out. He was going to be a father! He had never, before meeting her, ever really considered being a mate, let alone ever having a family, and yet this felt like the happiest moment in his life.
"They can do that if they want to," he said softly, a knowing gleam in his eye as he leaned in to groom her cheek affectionately. "Right now, all that matters is that we are going to have a family, together," he would be utterly delighted if one of them wanted to learn his stories and keep them going after he was gone, but he knew what it felt like to be forced to do something one's heart did not want. Right now, all his heart really felt like was showering her in affection. A family, he was going to be a part of a family for the first time since he had left home.

"I'm sure at least one of them will." She nodded. Even if there was only one she knew that it would take after it's father. With her love of stories and his love of them there was no way that the little ones woulnd't take after it too.
She shifted slightly so she could rest her head against his shoulders. "Our own little family .... i've never really had much of a family before." She could barely remember her own parents. Her father hadn't ever been around and her mother had only really cared until she could take care of herself.

"I'm sure they will too," he said happily, knowing that it would be in their blood. It was inevitable, he figured - one of them, at least had to love stories. Their parents were enthusiasts, passionate about them, he especially and Kinya perhaps more so since she had met him. They would be raised on them, but he would never force them upon any cub of his that didn't want to listen and learn.
"I haven't had one either for a very long time," he said softly, grooming her forehead now that she had rested her head against his shoulders. The day he had left his pride was the last time he had ever seen his family, he still hoped he would one day come across Malkia, but it was unlikely in such a large world. "We'll have our own now, be a family together," he said with a smile, "and make up for it."

"It will be nice to have a family again, our family." THey'd have the best family ever, she just knew it. She'd never really thought about being a mother much before but thinking about it now was wonderful. She had Taya and they were having cubs and it would be perfect to get to take care of them with him.
She smiled happily as she leaned against him. It was good to know he was just as happy as she was about them. "We'll have to find somewhere a little safer than this when the time comes ... maybe a cave somewhere"

"I think so too," he said softly, letting his mind trail away to thoughts of being a father. He knew what his father had been like - stern, serious, honorable. He had been a great, strong lion and though Taya had always admired him, he knew he was not the same. No, his cubs would be raised in a much care-free manner, that he knew. He didn't know if he knew how to be a father just yet, but he knew he'd figure it out by the time he needed to be ready.
"Oh you're right," he said with a quirk of his brow, glancing around slowly at the terrain around them. There was no way she could have their cubs out in the open, not like this. "Maybe," he said, looking down at her with a half smile, "we should stop look for stories for a little while and start looking for a good cave. We can't travel with them when they're really small, so we need a home, at least for a little while." As much as he loved his traveling lifestyle, he knew when he needed to be practical.

"We should be able to find something. I'm sure we've got plenty of time before i get too fat to want to wander around." She nipped his neck lightly with a grin. "When i get that fat you'll have to make sure to have some stories to tell me so i don't get bored."
It would be nice to curl up in one place for a bit while the little ones grew up. They just had to make sure that they would be able to get to food and that the little ones would be out of danger. Nothing was allowed to happen to her children.
