I was thinking of making a new dress, and so I designed one. It's not very extravagant, and that's what I need help with. I drew it with all the accessories that I'd be wearing. Pride stuff, and a Mjölnir medallion. Is there anything I could add that would make it look better? It seems a bit too plain, but I have no idea what else I could do with it! Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but none up there *points* seemed to fit. sweatdrop EDIT: I just noticed I forgot to color the ribbons. XD They're the same pink as the bow around the waist. I think it's cute the way it is ^^
but if you want to change it, I think rounding the collar and changing the ribbons to white would work

Mmm, the picture looks like it's a skirt/top outfit. o3o It's cute, though.
One thing I must say though, is that the whole having-a-ribbon-wrapped-all-around-the-waist thing isn't very flattering, if that is what you were thinking of. If you've seen some of the brand outfits, they have detachable waist ribbons for the bow, so if you do something like that (or just have the waist ribbons start at the side of the waist rather than having a whole another layer wrapped and tied around your waist), it would look much better.
But then again I still don't really understand the top part... if you can, please describe to me what you're planning with the top/bodice area?

The bow at the back is more just a giant detach, so the bow can be there or not depending on how I feel that day, but the sash is actually part of the dress, it'd be sewn on (looks sorta like the thing on the waist of the Anastasia Dress from ITS). The bow would be smaller, most likely, I was just making it that big so it shows up (more because I'm too lazy to draw a back side). Having it at the side is a really good idea, too! Thanks d8D! o.o I hope that made sense, I really suck at explaining things.

Other than the stuff I said, if you're a bit new to choosing the right materials, I suggest you should stay away from shiny fabrics for the sash if you want it to stand out. I had a perfect example of what would look nice with that design, but now I don't have the picture..

There isn't anything wrong with it being plain. If you wanted you could add some lace to the hem to make it a bit less plain.

I'm honestly not real crazy about the built-in sash and giant bow. It makes me think wa-lolita without ... the rest of the wa. I know you mentioned ITS's anastasia dress as being part of your inspiration, but that dress is actually not the best example for lolita. It's not a bad dress, granted, it's just a bit ... odd.
Plain and simple can be nice, but I kind of would like to see something done to hems to make it a bit more fun. Even a very discreet trim [not even a 1/2 inch wide] would be nice, or perhaps a tiered skirt so that you have two layers of fabric instead of just one?
Also, if you want to make the middrift portion of the dress more interesting, I'd suggest corset lacing down the front of the bodice and a squared off neckline instead of the sash and scooped-neck. It'll give it a bit more of the lolita flair to it, since right now this just looks like a sundress with a giant bow on the butt to me. ^^;

I agree with spuntino on the note of a squared off neckline. Also, the Anastasia dress made the middle section a bit on the long side, so that the dress has a slight dropped waist-- I'd avoid doing this. A dropped waist can be done, but it's one of those things that's a little hard to pull off (especially since it's harder to fit a petticoat under it) and is generally best to avoid. I'd make the section no longer than from underneath your bust to your natural waist, so the skirt section will start at the waist. More like this dress by Victorian Maiden. Instead of sewing a sash on top of the dress, I'd make it like that, so it's nice and smooth-- otherwise it's likely to be rather unflattering and make your waist area look a bit frumpy. If that doesn't look enough like a separate sash, I'd go with the suggestion that amanikitty gave with her image. If you want to make the bottom portion more interesting, just adding a very discreet bit of lace to the bottom, or even a ruffle would be nice.

i would make sure you eather have differnts in texture or differnt patterns on the pink areas of the dress in pink and maybe use what is the small amount of texture use from the same as the bows in the hair
