A lot had changed since the incident on China. RuiZhi often reflected how far he'd come as he walked down the pretigious halls of Shinkami, his Science uniform looking trim with the tails fluttering in his wake. He held a book in his hand, one he had borrowed from one of the basic classes during his time there that he intended to return. Even so, he was pouring over it again, one last time - making sure he didn't miss a nugget of information.
He was well on his way to being a student of Science, and it pleased him to feel that he was making progress everyday. It was hard work, but it was gratifying; it was hard to think, even then, that he was only here because of the race that had ravaged his homeland.

Whereas Ka'hmesh ... hadn't really moved forward much more in the time between. He was a registered student now, but had yet to move into one of the two areas of study for sure.
Coming down the hall the other way, he glanced upwards, half lost in thought. It wasn't something that happened too terribly often, but for a moment or two, the crimson-eyed boy wasn't paying attention to where he was going.
As such, he wandered over into RhuZhi's path without being aware of it, headed for a collision course.

Either by fortune or simple habit, RuiZhi was not one to walk blithely, despite his penchant for seeming to look anywhere but where he was going. He was still aware of the students and objects around him. As such, he glanced up when it appeared he was going to run into a wall, and was a little startled to find a student instead.
"Oh, e-excuse me," he chuckled, still a little caught off guard. He smiled up to the other student, intending to move on, but pausing. He knew this one, didn't he? "You're..." His mind recalled a time of panic and fear, dark forests and long nights. "Kah...Ka'hmesh, was it?" Right, this one had hurt his hand, that had mostly been left unattended during the excursion through China. RuiZhi remembered him because he was one of the people with Farlest.
"I'm RuiZhi...I don't remember if we've met properly." He extended his free hand to the other, hoping he wasn't being too forward.

Ka blinked at the sudden voice and stopped as well, just before he would have run into the other. "Oh! I ... sorry, I wasn't paying attention," he said quickly, with a little smile of apology. Then he blinked again and tilted head. Did he know...? Oh right, the mission to China. Ill-fated mission that it had been on his part...
"Yes, I'm Ka'hmesh but you can call me Ka if you like... I remember you from when we were in China..." he replied, reaching out to take that hand. His wrist had healed up fairly well, all things considered ... and only twinged now and then whenever the weather was about to change.

"It's good to see you again," he replied, nodding. RuiZhi instinctively glanced down to the wrist in question, smiling a little; not that he expected any problems, but it still was good to know for certain. "So...how's school for you? If you don't mind me asking...I don't want to bother if you're busy."
He smiled again, observing the pale-haired young man. This was the first time he'd seen him around the school, that he could recall, anyway. Maybe he was a magic student? RuiZhi blinked at the larger Ka, somewhat amused at the idea of the burly youth dabbling in magic. Not that it was a bad thing, just not what he'd expected.

Ka nodded back, with a little smile and noticed where the other's gaze went. But he didn't say anything about it, just ... was a bit glad that RuiZhi was concerned, even if there was no need for it.
"I've been going to a couple of classes," Ka replied at that, then ducked his head a bit. "Not a lot, though. It's... hard to just go sit in a classroom by myself and pay attention to a lesson," he admitted, a bit sheepishly.
"Looks like you're doing a lot better than me, on that score."

Touching the collar of his uniform, he smiled a little. "I don't have much to do but to study. Classes are all I have to pass the time." His voice was wistful, considering. "I have a goal I have to meet. On the other hand, I've neglected a lot of other things." RuiZhi remembered the instructions Herei had given him all too well, forcing him more into the Science path. His muscles ached just thinking about it.
"Are you going into Science?" RuiZhi voiced his previous question. It was hard to say when everyone was in the same building at first, but he liked the ability to mingle. "Oh! How's Farlest?" he inquired, genuinely curious. He hadn't seen the Japanese boy around either.

Ka nodded at that, but looked... maybe, just a bit concerned. Classes were important, but it was bad to work yourself to death too. Although RuiZhi seemed all right, more or less. "Well, just remember you can't work all the time. You have to relax at some point, right?" he pointed out with a little smile.
Then his expression turned thoughtful for a moment at the next question. "Actually ... I ... thought that I wanted to, but I'm not sure now. I'm enjoying all of the basic classes, on both sides. They're both interesting directions to take..." He trailed off, and then blinked. "Oh, Far is fine. He's been going to a few more classes than me... I should probably try to catch him and go when he does." Speaking of which ... Farlest was another reason Ka was thinking of perhaps going more toward Magic now...

A quiet bit of laughter returned the first question. "You sound like Scyeth," he remarked, and it was a kind statement. RuiZhi listened to Ka'hmesh's consideration, avidly interested. For one who wanted to walk both paths, he always found the desires and drives of others interesting, if not something to take into consideration for himself.
"They both have their allure," he agreed with a smile. It was nice to know he wasn't the only one who wavered on the path between. "I was thinking of possibly taking both sides. Wouldn't that be interesting?" he chuckled. Of course, it meant he'd have to go through school all over again, but it was a small price to pay for knowledge.
At the mention of Farlest, the young man nodded, pleased. "That's great! Please say hello to him for me next time you do see him?" He paused, and added, "Taking a class with important people does help. It makes the time go by smoothly." He recalled the classes he'd taken with Scyeth and could only smile. It made all the difference to the young Chinese boy.

Ka blinked at that and tilted his head a little. "Both sides?" he asked the other. "You can do that...?" He hadn't known that...
But then again, it was entirely likely that doing so would take twice as long. And he wasn't sure that he wanted to do that - or that the world had the time for him or anyone else at this school to spend that much time here. They needed to be out there... doing something.
Then he smiled and nodded. "I'll tell him that you said hi... and I'll definitely try to catch him for a class or two."

"Um, kind of," he smiled, "at least, I don't think they'd say no if someone tried. I've thought of it." RuiZhi had more than thought of it, having gone so far as to speak with Irame in private, but that was not exactly something the youth was willing to divulge just yet.
He gave a slight beckoning motion with his hand, holding up the book in the other. "If you're not busy, would you mind walking with me to return this...?" He was a little shy to ask, but he was genuinely pleased to see the other young man. "I don't mean to be rude, I just get sidetracked easily," RuiZhi admitted with a faint coloring of his cheeks. He knew it'd be as easy as talking about their classes and he'd be off doing something else, forgetting his purpose.

Ka blinked slightly at that and then smiled quickly. "I don't mind at all. I didn't mean to keep you from something that you were supposed to be doing," he said, waiting then for the other to start walking before he joined him.
Then Ka thought over what RuiZhi had said about going both ways. In a way... Ka had been thinking about the same thing. Or rather, more about switching sides at some point. He knew, without a doubt, that Farlest would be taking the path of Magic. And he wasn't sure how hard it would be for the two of them to stay together if he kept on going in Science.

The youth shook his head. "You're not keeping me. I'd rather talk to you than run errands," he laughed quietly. RuiZhi continued on down the hall, smiling to himself, watching the silver-haired young man out of the corner of his eye. He had no way of knowing what was on the other's mind, but he seemed to be deep in thought. Maybe it was about his classes?
RuiZhi considered the field of magic for a moment as they walked, thoughtful. Out loud, he questioned, "I do wonder who will be into Magic first? I think I've only met two who are interested, although honestly, I'm not sure about Elijah."

Ka'hmesh smiled at that and nodded. "I think just about anyone would want to get out of errands," he commented lightly - not in the sense that RuiZhi was using him as an excuse or anything, though.
Then he blinked and tilted head. "Well... I know Farlest is really interested in it. I ... to tell the truth, I kind of am too. I'm not entirely sure... that I should have picked Science in the first place."

RuiZhi smiled fondly. "He is, huh? I guess...that suits him." Really, the bright eyed, dark-haired Farlest could easily be mistaken as an elf if dressed like Dante or Irame. He was a little surprised by the rest of Ka'hmesh's statement, blinking over to the lighter-haired teen. "Really?" He gave a considering 'hmm,' adding, "I guess that's what these basic classes are for. To make sure we put ourselves where we need to be."
The Chinese youth himself had never felt deterred from his path. Truthfully, the path was one he hadn't known until Weiyuan had left him, making the call of putting himself to good use almost Siren-esque, in that he could not resist or deny it. He was only grateful he was able to answer it, with the help of his 'family' and friends. "Have you talked to Heru Araquenosse about it?"
