Tooki stood at the edge of the trees, over looking the plains. He'd spent the day walking in the cool shade and listening to the birds overhead. Now, the stallion was itching to run, dancing little excited steps. He loved running across the open grass, the dirt kicking up in his wake.
He took a few steps out, then glanced around to see if anyone was around. He surely didn't want to run anyone over. When the stallion was sure it was clear, he took off running toward the cluster of bushes he could just barely see. He'd race his shadow today, he thought, watching it trail before him.

 Just reaching the bushes at the edge of the forest line pure cyan eyes had heard the commotion caused by pounding, running, hooves and the stallion had moved closer to investigate. Till then he'd been busy collecting berries, a basket he'd found abandoned holding the berries he'd been picking lay some ways off by the berry growing bushes.
He'd been gathering berries for the ones who lived with him, something sweet to eat. He thought the other two might like them, they'd never seen a spring or summer so had never experienced such, then again neither had he, but he had tasted some the other day while wondering on his own. (Hope that's good.)

Tooki was making a full charge on the bushes, with intentions on trying to jump them. He saw something large and purple moving near the bushes. The stallion tried to slow down, turning to dodge past the purple thing, "Look out!"

Shock was the firs thing to register through Lyra's mind before he was quickly moving out of the way to avoid being run over and left in the stallions wake.
Watching as they barreled toward him he was in slight awe of their speed but not enough to openly gape, they were fast.

Tooki slowed to a trot, then came back to see what he almost hit. It was...a soquili? But it was big and colorful, really colorful. He walked closer, looking at him with clear blue eyes. "Are you a butterfly? Only butterflies of that much color, all swirled together..."

Laughing he shook his head. "No, I'm not butterfly. I'm a normal soquili like yourself." He said laughing a bit more.
"The colors run in the family, we all look similar, well aside from mother who is a different shade but the swirls and stars are normal."
Nodding his head then he smiled. "I'm Lyra."
A butterfly really? He didn't even have wings. He could see perhaps if he had wings like the mare he lived with but he didn't have wings, he wasn't his mother or is brother or even his son Asa.

Tooki looked closer, "I was asking because I heard about butterfly soquili. I've never seen one."
The stallion pouted a moment, then smiled, "I'm Tooki. Sorry for nearly running you over."

"Ahh, I've heard of such Soquili as well but have yet to see one, myself included." He said nodding his head.
"It's a pleasure, and it's alright you didn't run me over did you?" He asked smiling though there was no need for an answer, it was rhetorical.
"So what were you doing anyway running like that? I had thought something might have been chashing you." Or it had seemed like that with how fast the other had been running.

"I was racing my shadow," Tooki replied, stamping a hoof nervously. "I just like to run."
He looked at the other stallion, "You've never seen one either? Then howdo you know you aren't one?"

"If I were wouldn't my mother have told me?" He asked tilting his head just a bit.
"No, I don't believe I am one, I'm more like a star, like the night sky." Or so he'd been told and his sister and brother, father and mother looked like the sky like he himself did.
"You were...racing your shadow. Have you ever raced another soquili?"

"No..the few I've met won't race me. They think it's dumb. I used to race my sister when we were foals, but she left home," Tooki told him. He shook his head a little, tossing his mane. "I suppose, if you were a butterfly, you'd have been told. But a star? How do you get to be one?"

"I don't think racing is dumb, if you ever want we can race." The starry male offered with a light smile. He may be a father but he was still young enough and fast enough to enjoy a race with another Soquili, he didn't feel one bit old.
"I'm not sure how one becomes a star but my siblings and our parents all look like the night sky and starry." He said nodding his head, he really wasn't sure how or why but they all were dotted and painted in stars a family trait which he quite liked.
