It had not been long since she had parted ways with the lioness that had been her traveling companion and the strange lion. Something was already trying to call her back to that spot, Fortune guiding her way, perhaps, but she had come this far with something specific in mind and she meant to follow through with it... Even if it meant traveling until the end of the earth to do so.

Of course, travels of such distances could not be done without the occasional pause and it was now that she found herself taking one, lying down peacefully in the late afternoon shade near a water hole. It would be evening again... Cooler, she hoped, and better to travel through.

The sun was dipping low on the horizon, and the golden lion was taking advantage of his mate's afternoon nap. They traveled hard, the pair of them, always on the prowl for a new story. They didn't know where they were headed, he had never known, but they were together on a grand adventure, living their own story, and that was all that seemed to matter to the pair of them.

Today, however, Tayammum had decided to surprise Kinya when she awoke from her slumber. On the prowl towards the waterhole to stop and get a drink, he carried in his maw a bouquet of flowers that he had snapped up from various places. They were in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes but the look on his face was one of complete pride. As he neared the waterhole, however, he noticed the other female.

Putting the flowers down at his feet, he offered her the most charming smile he could muster, dipping his head. "Hello there," he said calmly, still at a good distance should she turn out to be less than friendly.

Without much thought she turned her head slightly, responding to the words as if she had been expecting them "Hello..." And then, realizing that she had heard something and, more importantly, responded to something, she turned, body tensing. She should have known better than to let someone sneak up on her.

"... How long have you been there?" The warrior instincts demanded to know just how much of a fool she'd made of herself by dazing off in contemplation.

He was vaguely amused that this was the second female he managed to come upon in the midst of thought so recently who had been somewhat surprised by his being there. He was not a particularly sneaky lion, in fact, he was probably anything but. Perhaps it was just his unnatural luck, which didn't seem so unlikely to be honest, as he had decided as of late that luck did seem to smile upon him.

"Only for a moment, I'm not fond of spying upon others, so I spoke as soon as I noticed you lying there by your lonesome," he smiled lightly, deciding that she wasn't likely to attack him, and moved forward to take a lap of water as he had originally intended. Licking the water droplets from his maw, he looked back at her, head tilted in curiosity. "Why are you sitting there all alone?" Oh, he was nosy, but who knew when a good story would show itself?

She pushed herself up onto all fours, stretching her front paws ahead of her to claw at the ground as she flexed her muscles before shaking off the lazy feeling that resting had left her with. "I was waiting for the sun to go down so that I could travel when it was cooler. I have much land to cover before I can return home and rejoin my pride." Her voice was soft and low, words spoken with traces of hidden weariness and obvious determination.

He quirked an eyebrow at her with uncovered interest, sitting down slowly at the side of the pool and scooping his bundle of flowers closer to him. "You travel at night?" he asked with a curiosity laced through his voice, head tilting as he watched her. He and Kinya traveled during the day, slept at night, though he supposed if one wanted to escape the heat it was quite clever to go by the shade of nightfall. "That's quite interesting," he muttered to himself, glancing down at the reeds that spouted from the watering hole. He leaned over, dipping his head to uproot a few flowers that had chosen to sprout from the nutritious spot, and added them to the bunch he had already gathered. A pleased smile spread across his maw as he adjusted them and glanced back up at her again.

"I would tire myself more if I moved throughout the day. It is easier to travel from dusk until dawn and sleep through the noon hours when the sun is high... Especially when traveling alone." She nodded slowly before her brow furrowed as she eyed him with great curiosity and a bit of confusion. "... What are you doing to those plants?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 7:05 pm

"I suppose it's much smarter to travel that way if there's somewhere you have to be in a short amount of time. I just travel to travel, I don't have to be anywhere, so I can take as long as I'd like to." He was busy concentrating upon the flowers as he spoke to her, and when she finally asked what he was doing he looked up at her in a surprised manner. "I'm getting them together for my mate. I thought it'd be nice when she wakes up," he flicked his tail, prodding them lightly with his paw to push them back together in a tighter bunch, then gazed up at her again. "Hasn't anyone ever gotten you flowers?"

"If it was up to me I would not be traveling. I would be back with my pride... My brothers, sisters and leaders, rebuilding what was lost." She nodded once. "Not out looking for the one who was cast out.. But she deserves to know what news I bring to her either way."

As her attention turned to the flowers once more she found her nose wrinkling at his question. "No. Why on earth would I want someone to bring me flowers? They aren't of any use to me."

He quirked a brow at the words she said, pausing in his attentions upon the flora at his feet. "That sounds like a grand tale if I ever heard one," he said with a bit of a smirk on his maw. The best tales dealt with things that were lost, those that were outcast, and a lot of drama inbetween. "Well, for your sake I hope that you get to where you are going quickly," he wasn't sure asking her her story would be very polite. She didn't really seem the sort to want to share.

"Why? Have you never wanted someone to show that they were thinking about you while you weren't there?" he shifted, watching her calmly as he spoke. Perhaps she just wasn't one for romance. He knew Kinya would appreciate the thought.

"I suppose it would be if one cared to tell it and another cared to listen." She shrugged her shoulders slightly before shaking her head. "I will get there when Fortune brings me there. She has guided me this far and it is my belief that she will guide me where I need to be."

Her nose wrinkled a bit further. "Can one not be told that without flowers? Or with something more practical... Like a rabbit or a bird?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 7:54 pm

"Perhaps one day someone will care to tell it," he said with a shrug. All stories deserved to be told, especially ones that sounded as intriguing as hers. Had she been a little more inviting, he might have pushed her to relay it to him, but as it was, she didn't seem the story telling sort. Perhaps, one day, he would come across her pride (here was to hoping there was someone among them not quite as stuffy) and find the story out then. "She is a great guide," he said finally, his smile returning at that thought, for it was one he could certainly relate to. Fortune, fate, luck, whatever it happened to be, it had shown him many great things as of late. Kinya being the greatest by far.

"Flowers are a great symbol to show just that, I think. Rabbits and birds both serve other purposes, flowers serve nothing else. I can bring her rabbits or birds any time just because she's hungry, but flowers I bring her simply when I want to see her smile," as he spoke he got a rather nostalgic look to his eyes, a shine to his smile. She might not have appreciated the gesture from anyone, but it didn't change his mind.

She ignored th talk of stories and Fortune for the moment, distracted instead by his talk of flowers. She really wasn't certain what she would think if someone brought her plants that they had plucked from the ground... Were she a mother and the flowers came from a cub she supposed that she would be intrigued, but from a grown male? From a grown male that was her mate?

"Does she like it, then... When you bring her these flowers?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 05, 2008 8:04 pm

Deep down, Taya was simply a romantic. With his arsenal of stories tucked away, he knew a million silly little things he could do that would likely put a smile upon his mate's face. Flowers were a reoccurring theme among many of them, as were other little gifts.

"Yes, because she knows I went and got them just for her, put the time and effort into finding them," he said with a nod, patiently explaining it to her. He wasn't sure why she seemed to estranged to the idea of flowers and receiving them, but he supposed that not everyone grew up with romance around them.

She thought on that a bit longer, brow furrowing further with the effort of trying to make sense of it... And then she simply shook her head, trying to toss it off as if it were nothing. The customs of this area must have been much different than those she had grown up with.

"Does she enjoy it when you are gone for too long? Or do you make it up to her by bringing those... Flowers... With you when you finally return?" Her brow lofted as she looked to him once more.
