Mawu was busy working on building up her muscles so she could someday make her family proud. Since her cousins departure, she felt more and more inclined to actually stay in the lands... but she'd have to prove herself... for her grandmother's sake. For now, she wanted to build up her strength, make herself a better warrior for the future. She stood at the foot of a tree she had climbed many many times in her younger days... and in her new size and frame, would be more difficult to maneuver.

So day in and day out, she had been working at getting up that darned tree, pushing past branched and vines... and the occasional bird that did not appreciate her intruding. By the end of the day, her black fur was glistening with sweat from the heat and the work out... and she sat at the bottom of the tree with half lidded eyes.

Chanyatia, the youngest of the litter, was more concerned about just not getting his family into trouble. He had always been extremely opinionated, always questioning the ways of the Pride. As a cub, he could just about get away with this, as he could be considered to be too young to understand. Now that he was older though, he had to be very careful about what he said. As a result, he had become rather quiet lately.

When he reached his sister, he tilted his head. "What are you doing?"

Mawu heard a familiar voice and gazed over, a rather tired and sleepy look to her eyes. She perked up, tossing her dark forelock out of her face, a smile crossing it-a proud one. "Been practicing Chanya.... To be a warrioress... or something like that-I suppose to be stronger... erm..." She stuttered a little, looking at her feet... she loved her youngest brother-he was so sweet... and she was oddly jealous of him... because he looked so similar to both Mother and Father... and she-was black.

"You should do it too Chanya... to get strong so the females will see the big babies you will make... and chose you over all others to make their babies." She said, smiling.

((sorry for the late.))

Chanyatia smiled at his sister's enitial reply. It soon faded though as she went on. "I don't want to make babies with anyone, especially not anyone here." He muttered, with a firm shake of his head. "I'm not some tool to be used for the benefit a lioness. I'm not." The yellow juvenile repeated himself, attempting to justify all that he said. It had become harder lately, simply because he now fully understood the rules and history of the Pride. That didn't mean he had to like them though.

With a sigh, Chanyatia sat himself down, his head lowered as he did so. "I hate it here Mawu."

Mawu looked to her brother and a rather somber look crossed her face-blinking her purple eyes... and lowering her head. She knew it-she knew everyone was going to leave here... she had this horrible feeling in her stomach for a time now... and she was saddened. She understood why her brothers would leave-but their Aunt Moray left for love... Uncle Guppi too... she shook her head. "I know Chanya..." She said sadly, looking up.

She felt a connection here-and a strong desire to make her Grandmother proud of her-for she was named after her.. and wanted to be like her-a good lioness.. a warrioress. But... "I wish I could go with you brother... for I also feel my life may be better if I left... but I feel obligated to stay... for our Grandmother... " She stood and went closer to him, to lean on him. Soon it would be inappropriate behavior for them to share these times.

"Go?" Despite Chanyatia's dislike of this pride and much of what it stood for, he had never really put much thought into leaving. He felt as though his opinionated personality would hinder him no matter where he was, and so he was unsure if he wanted to leave the few friends and family that he had here.

"I don't know...I'd like to think that if I stay, maybe I can change things." Chanyatia lifted a paw to comfort his sister. "Nothing is set in stone." He said with a small smile, attempting to cheer her up.

Mawu looked down at her paws, her emotions swimming in her chest like fish trapped in a pool. She sighed, her voice quivering slightly... at the thought of being without a brother... no matter what the situation was. She loved him like a sister even. "I will support anything you choose... because I am your sister and that is what I should do." She said, her voice soft and sweet... She met her brothers paw with her own, their colors different like night and day.

"Change is a difficult thing to bring when it is unwanted... but I trust you. Our grandmother was headstrong and carried our fathers heritage far... That is why I was named after her... because I am destined to do something amazing... or something." She said, not looking so sure.

Chanyatia doubted much of what he was telling his sister, but still, he had to try his best to cheer her up. He wasn't the type to look so far into his future, as he took every day as it came. "Lets just see how things go, hm?" Smiling, he nuzzled her, touched by her kind words. "And you know I'll support you right back."

His sister seemed rather wise for her age. Chanyatia found it easy to talk with her, as everything she told him was truthful yet kind. "Something amazing huh?" He grinned. "Like what?"

Mawu stopped and paused for a moment-thinking deeply. What could she do, being so dark as she was, her children would most likely be as dark as she and gain no ranking-and she wouldn't do that. She made a noise in her throat 'Hmmm She put a paw to her cheek and rubbed it. "'I dunno.. but I want to do something to help our pride... like.... be a leader or something... I've been wanting to have more lioness's like my color and ranking-but what would we be good at?'

She sighed and looked at her paws in thought again. "What good can a lioness so dark as the night-be for a pride bright like the sun."

Chanyatia looked over Mawu with concern. It was a shame that colour played such an important part in the Pride, as he was sure that she would make a terrific leader. "I think you would be a great leader. You just need to work harder to prove yourself, to make yourself stand out from the others. Like I said, nothing is set in stone." The bright yellow juvenile once again moved to nuzzle his sister, attempting to comfort and encourage her.

She smiled, though her heart was still a bit sad. She leaned against her brother and was glad for his support; though someday they would not see one another much. She knew that her black color may someday bring her problems but her brother would soon learn what a males place was in this pride. "Thats right... nothing is set in stone." She repeated, her head bowing slightly with a grin. She reached up and patted him on the side with her grey gloved paws. "And you keep that in mind too my brother. But enough of that talk-"

She sat up and wiggled her hind end for a moment. "Mother says father is doing much much better here than she ever expected! Isn't that wonderful!" She beamed. She loved her mother and she loved her father and was overjoyed to know he was fitting in perfectly!

Chanyatia rolled his eyes at the mention of his father. Although he loved him dearly, Chanyatia had never liked how accepting Liza was of his place within the pride. He was content with his role, and didn't seem to yearn for anything more, which is what he found rather sad.

"I'm happy for him." He said finally, managing a small smile. "It's good that he's happy here. Mother would be heart-broken if he ever decided that he wanted to leave.

Mawu nodded and agreed greatly. SHe knew their mother had a connection with Liza that was great-it may not be as great as a bond with a female; but something that created happiness in her life and in Liza's. Mawu figured that was enough for her. "Yes... though Mother hopes to find a lioness whom will bond with her someday and accept Liza's place in her life." She said thoughtfully. She sometimes wondered how her Dark brother had acted if he had stayed with them and not left. What about Cousin Moray. She could never imagine leaving without thinking about it long and hard.

And that was why she had not left yet.

"Chan... we are almost to the age where we won't see each other much..." She said softly, looking at her pale feet. "I hope a lioness will take you under her wing and request you to make babies with her... so that I can be an aunty!" She said with a smile. Cause deep inside, she wondered if her Queen would let her breed for the fear of creating more low ranked lioness's or worse... some black parastar! Then they'd leave too, like her brother

Chanyantia looked solemn for a moment. Yes, the time would soon come where he would have to leave his family to go live with the other males. He wouldn't get to see them anywhere near as much. If he left the pride all together though, he wouldn't get to see them at all.

At the mention of making babies, Chanyatia raised a brow. "Heh, I think it's a bit too soon to be thinking about stuff like that." The yellow juvenile didn't like to think about the future, because it just didn't seem all that good.

Se couldn't help it but think such things. And she half suspected her siblings of leaving, since alot of cubs did that these days. She sighed, nodding her head. She just had to keep hopeful for the future, cause if she didn't she wouldn't know what to do with herself. She'd go crazy. For one, she would never dream of leaving the pride anymore, this was her home.. and the fact that their brother already left... and who knows who else had.

"I just... have to keep a positive glow on things sometimes so I don't get sad..." She said simply. She wished she had been born a parastar, so no one would judge her black coat.
