"Though far from the only wizarding clothier around, Madam Malkin's seems to be the best, as it is the place where most Hogwarts students purchase their robes. Madam Malkin herself is a friendly, squat witch (PS5), though she seems a bit out of touch at times and got flustered when Draco Malfoy confronted Harry in her shop (HBP6).
Madam Malkin's is located next door to Flourish & Blotts, and in addition to selling Hogwarts school robes (PS5), they also sell robes which are 'spangled, self-ironing, beautifying, slimming, fattening, lengthening,' and 'temperature-adjusting' (DP) and they carry robes made by Whopperwear 'for the outsize witch or wizard.' A later advertisement states that every robe sold at the store is 'self-ironing and repairing' as well (JKR)."

Kanita Doyle rushed through the swinging doors with apologies on the tip of her tongue. Her appointment with Madame Malkin was over fifteen minutes ago, and from the look of things, the shop was as busy as ever.
Crossing her slim fingers, Kani hoped that she could still be squeezed in. She stood on the tips of her toes, trying to make out where the seamstress of a witch was, nibbling her bottom lip all the while.
"Ah! Madam Malkin! Madam!" She shouted over the noise of the shop.
As soon as the old, familiar witch turned head towards her, Kani gave a bright, hopeful smile. The batty, short woman scowled momentarily before sighing and motioning her over with the wave of her hand.
"I'm so sorry. Really, it was horrendous trying to fight my way across the street! It's so crowde-"
"Oh hush, hush Miss Doyle. Lets just hurry this up. You know what to do..." Madam Malkin trailed off as she already began pulling out thread, needles, pins and cloth. Kanita climbed onto the small stool and stood tall, leaving her shopping bag on the floor but out of the way.
Kani had to fight the smirk that threatened to overcome her lips as Madam Malkin muttered to herself. She managed to catch every odd word, such as 'ignorant, irresponsible teenagers now-a-days,' and how Kanita knew she would have 'taken the child no matter the time of day or how busy the shop was.' For Mrs. Doyle and Mrs. Malkin were actually close friends. Tea and crumpets every other Tuesday. Sometimes Kanita would even join them.
"OUCH! Now you did that on purpose!" Kanita yelped as a pin stuck her right on her bum. She could of sworn that the old witch flashed a coy smile, but just as quickly it was gone. Giving a long sigh and deciding to let it go, Kanita turned obediently to the left and right when prompted. All with hopes to just get her new robes quickly fitted and paid for.
She desperately wanted to make it to the ice cream parlor, with much haste, so to quench the dryness of her mouth.

A few long, grueling hours later, Kani stepped fluidly off the stool and made her way to the checkout. She had three robes in hand. Each hand-stitched and styled to her own preferences, with many thanks to Madam Malkin. As well as a promise to stop by for a chat and some lunch the next time she got the chance, most likely over Christmas break.
After paying for the robes with a heavy handful of galleons, Kani stuffed them into one of her many other shopping bags. She then slipped her wand from the back pocket of her jeans and cast a spell upon her bags, causing them to arrive in her room at home.
"Bye Madam Malkin, thanks again!" Kani called one last time, over her shoulder, before stepping back onto the sunny, heated and overcrowded streets of Diagon Alley.
[[Sorry if this seems a bit rushed, but well, it was. D; ]]

Rose Zeller Jesse lounged against the sign outside his parent's toyshop, brushing his hair out of his eyes and squinting against the bright sun. It always amused him to watch the bustling of students coming in at the end of each summer, buying their supplies and taking in the many wonders of Diagon Alley. The Alley had grown quite old for Jess, who had lived there as long as he could remember, but he did still find some pleasure in watching others discover the secrets he had long since taken for granted.
He particularly liked watching the muggle-born children dash up and down the streets, trying to turn their eyes on everything at once. And his absolute favorite thing was when muggle-born first years would see his toyshop. Because no matter how insistent an eleven-year-old was that they were a grown up now, not one of them could resist a wonderful, magical toy shop. Today had been slow in that department though, with only a few rather bratty little tykes making an appearance.
His parents had finally gotten fed up with his thinly-veiled snotnose remarks to the over-indulging parents and thrown Jess out on the street. He now watched as a girl exited Madame Malkins', across the street from the Zellers' shop, her arms looking quite full. He hesitated momentarily, and then, deciding he had nothing better to do and might as well meet someone interesting, he sauntered over to her and said cheerily, "Hey there, Miss, can I help you with your bags? I'd say you look a touch overburdened, if you were to ask me."
(( Sorry kinda long... just kinda happened as I wrote it ^^;; )) Sorry but this is taking too long... I don't want my character trapped here lol sweatdrop

Kallista rushed in to the store. I hope this doesn't take too long Madame Malkin saw her and beconned her over. "I've been waiting forever for you! Where have you been?!" Kallised turned a bright shade of red and muttered "I'm sorry, I slept in" in a tone thatc ould barely be heard. "Very well lets get started I'll make this as quick as possible." Kallista stood there wiggling, she hated standing still, especially when she was late. Oh I hope I'll never sleep in and miss my classes! "Ouch!" "Sorry but if you'd stand still you wouldn't get poked. I'm almost done just a minute more." After what seemed like hours later "There! You're done!" Kallista quickly payed for her Hogwarts robes and ran out of the store rushing to Olivander's

Addison entered the robe shop, waving to Madam Malkin and giving her a warm smile before continuing to the back of the store, finding her mother, Jeanette, there, organizing the robes that needed to be hemmed, or cleaned.
"Hello Mum," Addison said as soon as she neared her mother. "Busy day?"
Her mother turned and brushed her hair back behind her ears, sighing heavily and nodding before speaking. "Yes, Addi, but it always is this time of year." Her mother eyed the satchel of books over Addison's shoulder. "Addison," she began, an edge to her voice. "What is in that bag?"
Addison blushed and tried to look innocent. "Books..." she said in the least guilty voice she could muster.
Her mother gave her a look reminiscent of a hawk. "And how many books other than your texts did you buy?"
"Er..." Addison tried to think of an excuse. "Not many.." Addison said as her mother sighed and shook her head, her face finally splitting into a smile.
"I suppose you could be spending your gold on something worse..Go finish up your shopping, I'll see you later."
Addison smiled and hugged her mother. "Want anything from the ice cream shop?" she asked, but her mother shook her head. Addison nodded and left the shop, bidding her mother goodbye.

Leila walked through the doors to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, mouth in a frown and eyes shadowed by her hair. She just had a fight with her father, yet again, on whether or not she was allowed to buy some dragonhide arm warmers. She had wanted them for ages, ever since she saw then in one of her mother's random catalogues. Her mother was all for buying them but her father forbid it. Leila was going to buy them herself with her own allowance but her father told her that if she does buy those arm warmers with her allowance money, he would stop giving her an allowance. Sulking, Leila told her mother that she would go and do her shoping herself. She didn't feel like being around anyone at the moment.
Walking through the doors, Leila saw the place was half empty. She wanted to get in and get out or else she would be tempted to buy those arm warmers. She saw Madam Malkin standing about, supervising her workers. Leila walked up to the woman and tap her on the shoulders.
"Hello Madam Malkin, I was hoping you could help me?" Leila knew the woman pretty well. She was like an Aunt to Leila.
"Oh, if it isn't Leila. Where is your mother?" Madam Malkin went on and on about Leila. It wasn't until after she put Leila onto a stool did she stop her long speech.
"Mother's at home at the moment, I told her I'm old enough to go shop myself. Madam Malkin, I made a list of all the things I need. I was hoping, after getting all my measurements, I can come back later to get them?" Leila was hoping she could go to Flourish & Blotts. She wanted to get a few books on Auror Training along with all her school text.
Madam Malkin gave a small frown before shaking her head. "Young people these days. Fine, fine, fine. Once I get your measurements, you can go." Leila smiled towards the woman, her first smile of the day.

It was near closing time when Leila finally came rushing into the store. She had went to a candy store in muggle London before going back to Madam Malkin. She knew Madam Malkin had something for caramel. To apolegize to Madam Malkin, Leila brought the candy to bribe the woman. She came into the store, empty and dark, seeing only Madam Malkin sitting on a stool waiting for her. Leila hung her head and walked slowly up to Madam Malkin, a sign of submission towards the mother lion. She saw that Madam Malkin was about to say something when Leila interrupted her.
"I'm sorry Madam Malkin. I lost track of time and I didn't want to come in here all mad and I was trying to calm myself down and- and-" Leila couldn't say anymore when she was hugged by Madam Malkin.
"Don't worry about it deary. I was more worried than mad. You're not usually a tardy person. So I'll not ask why you were today. I'll forgive you. Now get your clothes and off you go. I need to close down my shop you know." Madam Malkin hugged her one more time before handing Leila her clothes and pushed her towards the door.
"But I haven't paid yet!" Leila protested.
"I'll send you the bill tomorrow morning deary. I don't have time to stay anymore. Just pay by owl mail love. Have a good night." Madam Malkin told her as she went back into her shop, closing everything down. Leila wasn't even able to say good-night.
Leila shook her head at the busy witch. She quickly went to the Leaky Cauldron, hoping to God and whoever else is up there, that her father has yet to called the muggle police and the magical aurors.
