This shop has all your potion needs from normal to strange and interesting. There are tons of barrels, jars, and bins filled with things. There are bundles of things and kits on shelves. This place however does not have a pleasant aroma it smells a lot like a mixture of bad eggs and rotten cabbage.

"Ooh, and some of these, and these..."

Charisma Glikken stepped into her favorite shop, the sweet smell of pickled salamanders (okay, so it wasn't so much sweet as it was acidic, but pleasant anyway) nearly overtaking her. Without immediately sniffing out the ingrediants needed for N.E.W.T. level Potions, the girl swept through aisles lined with barrels of animal bits and fungi. She was seemingly the only Slytherin in the shop, her patriotic nails giving her away, but that didn't bother her. No one from other houses ever gave her a hard time- and besides, she was a seventh year, right? Above all that petty nonsense of house prejudice...

"Mmm... gurdyroot. Sir, you wouldn't happen to have...?"

The disgruntled, yet endearing shopkeeper left his post behind the counter. He recognised the Glikken girl by her unending (and rather annoying) questions. He and Charisma had somewhat of a mutual dislike for each other, and it was uncertain whether Charisma's annoyances were unintentional.

An hour later, all the transactions had been made. Charisma attempted to give a charming smile. "Adios, muchacho!"

Time to meander among Diagon Alley.

The whirlwind of people and the late summer heat had ushered Vlaityn quite quickly into the nearest shop. Although it may not have been the most pleasant shop to have chosen as a relaxing spot, it would suit just fine. Besides, it was on her list of things to do.

Vlaityn headed towards the shopkeeper and showed him her now shattered silver knife, essential for her potions class. She felt herself flush slightly as the man clucked his disapproval of the knife.

"Every year. Without fail. Really now, what was it this time?"

A slight smile started to grip the edges of Vlaityn's mouth. "Gnomes, sir. They've taken a liking to the objects in our household with a nice shine."

The shopkeeper grumbled and began to root around a new knife.
"So tell me, young lady," he said cynically. "Is your aim getting better at least?"

"Tsk, do I look the type for knife throwing, sir?"

Vlaityn paid for her new knife and started to turn away towards the door or the shop, but not before adding, "Exponentially better, by the way, sir."

Judas felt much more comfortable in the store than on the street. Even the foul smell did nothing to make him want to leave.

Judas didn't need much, just a little eye of newt and some gurdyroots. Then it caught his eye - a sterling silver scale. He looked at it for a moment, feeling a sense of peace at the idea of balance and equality. He snatched it off the shelf and brought it to the clerk.

"Will that be all?" the clerk said kindly.

Judas, eyes down, said, "Yes, sir."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, sir."

"Hogwarts student, yes?"

"Yes, sir."

"What house are you in?"

"Slytherin, sir."

"Ah! Some excellent potions masters have come from that house. Are you hoping to follow in their steps?"

"Perhaps, sir."

The total had been rung up. Before the clerk could say more, Judas grabbed his purchases and shuffled out of the store. Life would be so much easier if I never had to speak...

Muttering excitedly to himself, Jackson Krouso hurried down Diagon Alley towards his favorite shop. Professor Jackson Krouso, he reminded himself happily, still hardly able to believe his good fortune. Walking by Madame Malkins', he realized he would need new and much more professorly attire, and as he was planning what he would have her make in his head, he didn't watch where he was going, but threw open the door to the Apothecary's and walked straight into a young Hogwarts witch coming out. He stumbled back a pace and cried in distress, quickly looking to see if he had made her drop any of her packages...

Not another broken knife....!
Vlaityn could only scramble her arms in the air in attempt to recover her box with the new knife.
This was in vain, as it soon landed harshly on the ground. But upon further inspection, the knife was perfectly fine.
Vlaityn grabbed her package and secured it under her arm.

"I am so sorry!" She looked up, highly flustered, to see the man she had collided with. "I should have been paying attention. I hope I didn't make you drop anything...."

Working on becoming an auror Amelia needed to re-stock up on her potions ingredients since once again(besides her great dislike of the subject) she was going to have to take potions again. Passing her Potions O.W.Ls with close to flying colors she still didnt feel as confident as your everyday intelligent potions student. In her 5th year she almost cut her finger off and blew up the classroom when some of her blood mixed with a highly delicate potion(almost leading to the docking of 25 house points). Despite her intelligence Amelia was a total klutz and extremely spaztic when it came to handling sharp objects and careful measurements.

Entering the shop she immediately began to search for some gurdy root, salamander eyes, a new potions knife(her old one now dull), lacewing flies, boomslang skin, etc.(Every type of ingredient needed to brew a advanced potion.) When she finally believed she had everything she needed Amelia walked up to the sales desk to be rung up by the shopkeeper who she had come to know well over the last few years she attended Hogwarts. "Amelia its so nice to see you again" the shopkeeper said with a smile. "Same to you sir, how has everything been going?"(despite living in England for over 6 years Amelia still spoke in American dialect and accent) "Very well" the shopkeeper said "How are your dreams of becoming and auror? Still flourishing I hope" "Yes sir" Amelia said with a proud smile "I take my auror exam not long after I graduate Hogwarts" "Well good luck" the shopkeeper said "I'll be hoping for you" "Thank you" Amelia said paying for her items and gathering them together. "Hope to see you soon" she said as she was walking out the door "You as well, have a good term Amelia" "Thank you, I will." she replied and then headed back to the Leaky Cauldrom for a late lunch.

Jackson shook his head, "No, no, certainly not, I wasn't carrying anything," he said. "Really, it was my fault, I tend to... um..."

He trailed off, his mind wandering as he realized that the girl spoke with an American accent, and he wondered where she was from in the States, and why she was here, in Diagon Alley, and then he realized that she probably was here for school, at Hogwarts, and was here, in the Apothecary, and so was probably going to be one of his students.

"...sp-space off...at times..." He shook his head, really looking at her for the first time, his red eyes suddenly becoming bright and excited. "Say... would you by any chance be a Hogwarts student?"

"Oh, uh, yes, I would be. I mean, I am! Yes, I am." Vlaityn said apologetically, wishing she could stop butchering the art of language so badly.

However, she could feel herself calm down immensely, seeing that he didn't appear angry in the least. In fact, there seemed to be happiness and enthusiasm shining in the man's eyes. Red eyes at that. She was slightly surprised she hadn't noticed them right off.

I wonder why he's so excited about Hogwarts,
Vlaityn pondered. He must have been out of school for at least a handful of years by now. . . .

PostPosted: Sun Jun 22, 2008 8:56 pm

Jackson clapped his hands in delight. "Excellent! It's wonderful to meet you, Miss... ah... I do apologize, what is your name?"

He had become so excited at meeting his first actual student that he completely forgotten all rules of professorly behavior that he had painstakingly concocted when he couldn't sleep the night before. And all rules of actual etiquette, it appeared, for he had asked the girl her name and was now smiling expectantly without offering any information on himself in return.

An amused smile started to creep across the corners of Vlaityn's mouth. She just couldn't help it. His delight was infectious. It gave off the effect that he was just enthralled with living.

"Vlaityn Brales, although I won't promise it's not an alias. I hate to sound rude, but who are you, exactly?" She inquired in a friendly tone, cocking an eyebrow slightly. His enthusiasm for Hogwarts, and the term 'Miss' led to the feel of a professor. But Vlaityn wouldn't assume, how dreadful it would be to be wrong.

PostPosted: Sun Jun 22, 2008 11:51 pm

Suddenly remembering who and where and why he was, Jackson promptly forgot again, losing all composure and slapping himself on the forehead. "Merlin's beard! I've gone and made a fool of myself already!" he muttered under his breath. He shook his head, remembering himself again and looked up at Vlaityn, smiling apologetically.

"I do apologize, Miss Brales. I'm Jackson Krouso, I've recently been hired as a the Potions Master at Hogwarts." He frowned slightly, looking troubled, and then said, "Er... perhaps you ought to call me Professor Krouso though... Are professors supposed to give their first names?" He asked nervously. "I'm afraid I'm not terribly good at all this formality."

Vlaityn had to ponder on that though. "I don't see the harm in knowing your name. Honestly, I'm still not used to all the formality around here. . ." She found herself remembering her trouble adjusting to everything. "I'm pretty sure it took me about 4 years just to get used to saying 'sir' and 'ma'am' once in awhile. . ."

Upon which she remembered it probably wasn't the most polite thing to reminisce and leave one's teacher just standing there awkwardly.

"But rest assured, you'll Professor Krouso to me. Everyone will be excited to meet you. Eager to find out who the new Professor is. They want to make sure Potions class will still be enjoyable." Vlaityn found herself with a small smile across her face. It was reassuring to know they'd have a seemingly capable teacher, albeit maybe a slightly nervous and spacey one. But still. It was good news.

Eevee meandered around Diagon Alley for a moment before checking her list of needed supplies. "Hmm... I need a new cauldron, my old one is getting ghastly." Eevee opened the door to the Apothecary shop and was bombarded by fumes of Heavens knows what. Berek fluttered his wings violently on Eevee's shoulder. "Go wait outside then, Berek." He seemed moody lately, perhaps it was just the new year jitters getting to him. Eevee poked around looking for cauldrons until she found them. "Hmm... which one?" Eevee decided upon a medium sized jet black cauldron. She heaved it up onto the counter and payed the cashier. Eevee asked, "Could I leave this here until I've finished my shopping?" The cashier agreed and she gave him an extra galleon in thanks before exiting the shop to be rejoined by Berek. "Alright, what else will we need, Berek? D'you want anything?"

"Reading material and some ice cream sprinkles!" Berek chimed. Eevee looked at him and said mockingly, "Well look who has their tongue again!" The pair set off towards Flourish and Blotts for the required reading as well as some extra reading material.

Darius stepped inside and was immediately assaulted by a whirlwind of odors and bustling children. He looked around noticing the a few of the other students from the Leaky Cauldron were also present. Darius removed two lists from his bag this time, one list being the ingredients he would need for his studies and the other was a list of...Well things that would most likely get him in trouble if anyone found out. He found a goblin and hailed him, giving him the lists. The goblin eyed the second list, then looked Darius up and down. "Young sir I don't think I can get these items for you. It would be quite dangerous to..." He trailed off as Darius pulled a few Galleons from his bag. "What say you to these three fine Galleons here, you ring me up for the cost, and we forget I ever showed you the list? Eh?" Darius grinned and jingled the coins in front of the goblin, his big round eyes following the gold. "Right away young sir!" He waddled off to the back of the store and vanished behind a curtain. A few minutes later he returned with the supplies, stuffed in a satchel. "Here you are young sir, that'll be 5 Galleons and 17 Sickles." Darius took out the coins and dropped them in the goblins hands, taking the satchel placing it carefully in his bag. He walked out whistling a little toon, while Shanks took a nap on his shoulder.
