The forest territory.
Unexplored, untamed, unknown.
It spans from acrtic tundra to dense jungle, from dry savannas to boggy marshland.
This is your land, your home and your training area.
Hopefully you'll get the hang of the basics quick enough, because there as many dangers as there are beautiful landscapes, and fighting against nature is almost as hard to learning as synchronize with it.

Piopi jumped up to the top of the huge tree they were climbing, finding a branch littered with bird poo and squatting next to it.
"Come on up here. I beat you, by the way." She stated that she won the race to the top.
"Heres some bird poo up here- and don't worry, you dont have to touch it. We just wanted it for the seeds in it, you can just focus on the area that the poo is in and we'll see what sprouts." She called down to her friend with a grin.

Rey held back a gag. She would prefer to work with mammals, rather than birds, let alone bird poop. Still, she jumped higher into the branches and followed Piopi. "Good," she replied. "Then lets find those sprout-thingies!" Her enthusiasm, for now, could make up for her lack of experience... hopefully.

Piopi nodded now that Rey had jumped up level with her, and pointed to the branch which was littered with bird poo.
"See if you can make something grow out of there. It shouldn't be too hard- the seeds in it are parasites, and will take all their energy from the tree we're in. You just need to.." She bit her lip, trying to explain it. She wasn't really used to this teaching thing yet. "..Speed up time a bit for them."
She focused her mind on a dollop of bird poo and felt the tiny packet of new life inside a seed in the poo. It just needed a little push in the right direction, and its little roots tapped into the big trees energy, then it shot up and a mistletoe sprig surged up from the branch. Giving a plant time was becoming second nature to Piopi.
"Just like that." She explained.

Rey blinked. "Err... like this?" she stared at a little pile of poo, focusing all of her energy toward it. For a moment, something sprouted. A small plant began to grow, ever so slowly. Soon, though, it drooped and withered. Growing an inch-tall plant didn't seem like much of an accomplishment.

Piopi clapped and seemed happier than Rey herself, bouncing up and down on her branch.
"Wow! Fast learner!" She grinned, then looked at the withered plant.
"Do you know WHY your plant withered and died?" She asked in a very teachery way, tilting her head towards the girl. She already knew why, but was testing her, and gave her a clue by blowing on the plant, which promptly fell out of the tree.

Rey shrugged. "Because... because it didn't get enough sunlight? Or was I supposed to water it?" She said in an apologetic tone, sorry that she couldn't come up with an answer. "This is my first time."
PostPosted: Fri Jun 06, 2008 3:22 am

Piopi grinned.
"Well water and sunlight would have been fine, because we're in the top of the trees for sunlight and water is no problem since the parasite can get its food off this tree itself." She laughed and told Rey the answer.
"The problem was, it had no roots! Therefore it couldnt get food from this big tree, and thats why it fell out so quickly as well." She explained, focusing on another plant, growing it and yanking it out of the tree.
She pointed to the parts of the plant.
"Leaves: photosynthesis. Stem: transportation. Roots: support and water." She chucked the plant out of the tree, and looked back at Rey.
"try again, focus on the roots- they're very important."

Rey nodded. "Grow roots... roots, roots, roots." Closing her eyes, she could commit the knowledge to memory. Again, she looked, concentrating, at the tree branch. There was another pile of droppings for her to use this time. Something sprouted from the ground when she focused hard enough. It was not green, but brown. Soon enough, Rey laughed. She realized that she had grown a root, but no plant!

Piopi laughed and peered at the root.
"Okay, thats...uh.... hm." She looked up at the slightly raining sky, trying to get some inspiration.
"Allright." She stated, looking back at Rey with a determination to be a good teacher.
"How about we just concentrate on one bit at a time. First, the roots for a few seconds, then concentrate on growing the top bit, then take it in turns. Slowly switch between the two faster, until you can do both at the same time." She explained with a grin, flicking the root sticking up out of the bird poo with a laugh. It was fun to be a teacher, if not a little frustrating, and this new girl could make quite a good friend.

Rey furrowed her bow. "Okay, here goes!" She touched her fingertips to the tree. They started to glow dimly. She always did this before she used forest bending powers. A plant started to grow. The roots were coming along nicely... suddenly, Rey had a strange idea. She reached into her pocket for her flute, and brought it to her lips. A sweet, high note came from the wooden instrument. Upon "hearing" the sound, the weed-like plant grew taller. Next, she played a low note. The plant's stem grew thicker.

Piopi reeled back, beaming.
"WOWEE!!" She reeled back rather too far and fell off her branch backwards, still beaming.
There was a thunk and some rustling then Piopi was pushed victoriously up by a leafy branch which had caught her and she controlled, which she was perched on like a monkey.
"Aheh. Well thats great progress. now lets get out of this tree and find something else. Any ideas?" She asked, sliding cautiously back down the tree trunk and looking up at Rey.

Rey gave a delighted smile to her new creation. "You tell me, teacher!" Her mood was brighter now, "What should we try next?"

((sorry for the short post. writers block))

Piopi beamed at being called teacher by her happy student.
"Well hop down out of that tree and we'll go practice manipulating plant movement." She said, jumping the last few feet to the ground and looking up at the skies which were clearing.
"I wonder where Lucian is.. and Vi as well. Ah well.Hey do you know anyone from around here? I've never met very many people in the forests." She chatted to Reyna like they had suddenly become buddies.

Rey shrugged. "You met me in the forest, but that isn't where I live. I actually came from the vally near the mountains, and I live only with my parents and brother. So, no, you and Violet are my first friends." She said friends the way someone might say "delicious pink frosted donuts with rainbow sprinkles." Rey stuffed the flute in her pocket and slid easily off the branch into a flower bed. Her feet were protected by two brown sandals, each with a pink flower sewn onto it. They were the type of shoes that look worn, but still beautiful. The type of sandal that says "I'm a modest girl who loves to have fun, even if I get dirty."
