She stretched slightly and had to balance herself again or end up falling out of the tree she'd perched in for the night. It wouldn't be good to fall since she'd either land on Taya, and that would hurt, or she'd land on the ground, and that would hurt more. Yawning she looked up though the scattered branches and leaves at the orangish purple of the morning sky.
They'd been wandering around for a while now, sometimes finding new stories, mostly retelling each other old ones so they wouldn't forget. She really liked Taya's company. He was smart and he knew lots of things and he still liked to play even with all that.
Shifting a bit she looked down at where the lion was. "Taya? ... are you still asleep?"

Taya had been awake for a long while, although he had not moved from where he lay. It was often the case for him, lying where he slept and staring off into nothing, entertaining ideas, thinking over old stories, creating new ones from the dreams he had had. His dreams the night before had been particularly interesting, although not because of any connection to a story, but because they had starred a familiar face instead.
That face just happened to be connected to the voice that called to him from the tree above his head, and with a smile he turned his own up to greet it. "No, I've been up for a while, my dear," he called back happily, his tail batting lightly against his hind legs as he shifted to lean back more comfortably against the tree trunk. The dreams were not particularly unsettling, just a surprise, and it gave him a lot to think about.
Was his subconscious trying to give him a message? He was trying to think of a story of similar quality, though in his need, he found that his mind was running a little blank. That amused him more than anything - when he had use of his stories, they evaded him. A troubled mind was not good for thinking, he supposed.

"Ohh..." That probably meant he'd been thinking about things. Usually if he was awake and didn't say something that's what was happening. He seemed like like to take time to ponder things in the morning
"Did you have any nice dreams?" He'd told her once that he some times made stories out of his dreams. If he'd had a good one then maybe she could get him to tell her. A new story seemed like a perfect way to start off the day.

"I did," he said slowly, although he wasn't really in the mood to share them with her. Until he figured out what they meant, he didn't really think it would be a good idea to let her know that he had been dreaming of her. What if she thought it was weird? He didn't want to weird her out and have her leave, for she was one of the most interesting people he had ever come across and he certainly enjoyed her company. "Although they're all jumbled and a bit hard to remember, you know how that goes, don't you?" He said it with a grin and ease - not really a lie, but not really the truth. They were quite jumbled, as he didn't know what they meant, but he did remember them well.

"Really?" She shifted so she could sit up and climb down from the tree. Her paws thumped on the ground as she shook herself out and settled next to him. "Usually your brain doesn't get jumbled." She grinned at her friend.
She tilted her head after a moment and thought about something. "Taya ... can i ask you a weird questions?"

"Maybe I ate something funny," he said weakly, though his smile remained in place. He felt he could play off anything so long as he kept smiling, as it was his greatest defense. "I guess I'm only mortal, after all. My brain deserves a break sometimes too." He reached up to pat himself lightly on his head, chuckling as he did so, making the situation sillier in an attempt to take light off the fact that he was really trying to hide something he'd rather not talk about.
"Of course, Kinya," he said with a nod and a smile, particularly happy for the chance in subject.

"You ... like me right?" Her head stayed tipped to the side as she looked at him. She knew he had to like her a little at least. He stayed with her and he seemed to like her company so there had to be something there. She just wasn't sure what sort of like.
"Well. I mean you have to like me a little at least since you haven't chased me off yet and you let me come with you places. But ... " Her nose scrunched. She couldn't really ask him what sort of like it was. That was probably imposing something on him that he might not like and she didn't want him to decide not to like her.

If only he had known that the change in conversation wasn't really much of a change at all. He opened his mouth to reply to her, but found that his words wouldn't work. Which was a first for him, to say the least. He turned his head away from staring up at her where she sat on her branch and instead looked out at the horizon.
"Yes," he said after a few moments, letting his tell flicker lightly against his back legs as he thought, "I do like you." He wasn't sure what else she expected him to say, because he wasn't sure what he was could work up the courage to tell her. "I like you a lot, Kinya," he muttered, staring at his paws then, the emerald orbs concentrated upon them so he wouldn't have to look at her.

She smiled brightly and leaned against him slightly. "Good, since i like you a lot too." At least it meant that he wasn't going to get rid of her any time soon. She'd have plenty of time to spend with him and hear more of his stories.
"If you ever get those jumbled dreams together you have to tell me." She smiled. It would probably be a good story whatever it was.

He smiled at the sound of her words, glad that she was still so light-hearted about the situation. "I'm glad you like me a lot too, then," he said in a pleased manner, glancing up at her in a manner that was a bit more shy than he would have done before then perhaps.
"Well," he said slowly, taking a deep breath, deciding that he might as well take the risk now if he ever was, "they were actually about.. you." He bit at the inside of his cheek as he glanced back down at his paws, his tail flickering nervously once more.

"Really?" Her ears perked up slightly. "I'm interesting enough to have dreams about?" She'd never thought that she would be nice enough to have dreams about. That meant he was thinking about her more than she thought he would have been. If she had been able to blush she probably would have.
"We're they good dreams? I hope they were?"

"Yeah, your more than interesting enough," he said with a weak smile, unable to keep it off of his face, despite his nervousness. Something about her simply did that, made him feel better, even in a situation as awkward as this one. Even when the awkward situation was directly because of her.
"They were.. very good," he admitted, feeling a lump in his throat as he said it. It was the truth, no use hiding it now that he had let the cat out of the bag. They still confused him to think about, because he wasn't sure that the dream-Kinya would react to him in the same manner at all.

"It's good that they were good dreams." She nodded. "It would hate to think that i was the case of not good dreams." She laughed and turned her head slightly so she could see him better. He looked nervous for some reason.
"Are you okay? You're not smiling like you usually do." She nudged him with a paw. "You're not allowed to be mopey, i wont have it." She grinned as she continued to poke him

He listened to her words, letting her nudge and poke him, his tail batting back at her paws half-heartedly as she did so. "Well, that's just it," he muttered, pausing as he tried to sort it all out. He was getting tongue-tied before he even tried to talk, which was, yet again, another first for him.
"The dreams have me all confused, and I don't know what to think," he said with a sigh, raising a paw to rub at his cheek. "I'm scared what you'd think of me if I told you," he admitted finally, glancing over at her with a frown, his eyebrows furrowed, and his eyes shining with a flurry of emotions that just weren't like him at all.

She frowned slightly. "You don't trust me to not get mad at you? I wont hate you for whatever it is." She shook her head slightly with a soft smile. He'd said that he liked her a lot so it couldn't be dreams where he did something horrible to her. That just wouldn't make sense. And even if they were it was just a dream and he wouldn't do anything like that.
"Nothing's going to change the fact that i like you." She shifted and flopped half on him. "You're good company and i like your stories and being able to wander around with you. So whatever it is it's fine by me."
