Rules:
- Do NOT post your progress during the Scavenger Hunt. This means no reserving. The only time you should post (if participating in the scavenger hunt) is when you are finished.
-This will be a numbered post. Only the lists are numbered. If you ask questions, do not number the post.
- The images can be of any medium: sculpture, drawing, computer imaging, etc. We just need you to post the image as proof that you found it.
- The entire internet is open for the Scavenger Hunt, please do not re-use websites or images that have already been posted from someone who has already finished the scavenger hunt. I realize that this may seem unfair, but I know that you are some intelligent and resourceful people – you can find the items!
- DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT edit a previous post to change your answer. It will screw up all the people after you, and make everything confusing, to say the least. (Plus you'll be disqualified). So plan out your post and test the images by previewing them first)
- Do not beg for links or assistance in completing the hunt – you need to be the one doing the work to win the prize!
-Label each picture (place it next to, above, below, whatever, just be consistent) with the number (should match the one on the master list), the name of the picture (goes with the number…) and the website you got it from. This will help in organizing.
How To Post A Picture:
Here is how to post images once you have found an item on the Scavenger Hunt list.
Step 1: Save the image to your computer
- This is either by right-clicking the image and saving to your computer OR by taking a screenshot of the image and saving it to your computer. You can learn how to take a screenshot here. People with Macs can usually drag it to their desktop.
Step 2: Go to tinypic.com, imageshack.us, or photobucket.com. If the image is really large, I recommend photobucket as it allows you to resize your images. If you need help in using photobucket, ask in your Common Room for coaching or perhaps you can partner with a House mate who knows how to post images and both of you can submit (different) entries! After all, it's more House points plus you have an equal chance at the Grand Prize!
Photobucket will require you to create an account (which is free), and you'll find it great the more you play here with us at Haven – so keep that in mind.
Step 3: Upload your image. Resize the image if necessary.
Images MUST not be bigger than 640 x 500.
Photobucket is the easiest to use. Once you've uploaded your image to Photobucket, click twice on it to edit, select resize from the toolbar and from the drop down menu, chose Message Board (640x480) or E-mail/Website (320x240). With the 'new uploader', you can set the size for maximum 320x240 BEFORE you upload, and any image bigger than that, will automatically be resized. I suggest the smaller size, which is easiest on our members using slower computers.
Step 4: Copy the link that says “IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards”
Step 5: Paste the code in your ‘new reply’ window. It's also useful to copy the links to another program, such as Word, or text editor or a notepad. That way if you get interrupted during your search, or accidentally hit the wrong button, you don't lose all your work!
Step 6: Repeat until you have found all the items.
Step 6: Finish your reply and hit the ‘submit’ button!
**Be sure to have your images in the correct order as indicated by the listing on the scavenger hunt.
The Scavenger Hunt is open from now until midnight June 19
