She flopped down under a tree with an audible thump and grinned. "Too ... much .. running." At least he was willing to play a game of tag with her even though it was childish and sorta silly.
It was getting late tnough that they should probably call it quite for the night, never mind that she was worn out from all the running and chasing she'd done. "Should have caught dinner ....." The thought hadn't occurred to her that they should probably eat something until that moment.

He was right behind her, flopping down almost immediately after she had, leaning his back against the trunk and taking a few moments to let his breath catch up to him. "I.. agree," he said breathily, his chest rising and falling quickly, his tongue lolling slightly from his mouth as his lungs fought to catch up with the demand of oxygen from his body. The game had been fun, despite being childish, and he had been reminded of why he missed having a companion so very much.
"Yeah," he agreed, nodding his head with a bit of a frown as he glanced around them at the slowly darkening skies. Night would be upon them soon, and they had played away their time instead of catching dinner. He had never been one to remember the important things and when faced with responsibility or fun these days, he seemed to choose fun. What could he say? It had been a long time since he felt he could live live so carelessly. "I suppose we'll have to go looking first thing in the morning, else we'll have to answer to terrible stomach monsters."

She shifted a bit and rolled over so that she would be able to see him better. It wasn't any fun talking to someone if you couldn't actually see who you were talking to. "Nice long sleep ... then breakfast in the morning." She nodded. Unless by some miracle they got untried before they fell asleep then they could go look for dinner.
"At least it's not cold." She grinned. "Or if it gets that way we don't have to be cold." She knew well enough that sleeping next to someone else was a lot warmer than sleeping alone. "Cold would be bad and uncomfortable and make being hungry even worse."

He shifted as she did, so that he could look at her better, though still remained leaned back against the tree. He was worn out from their game (he was an adult, not a cub, his body wasn't built for such a thing) and the trunk was far too sturdy of a support to pass up.
"Yes, that is a very good thing. Being hungry and cold seems like a terrible thing, straight from one of my stories about underdogs and fellows down on their luck," he chuckled, flicking his tail, and leaned out to bat at hers playfully. "No, I don't think we have to worry about any of that so long as we have each other. I underestimated how easy it is when you have a companion before." Now that he had her, life seemed a lot easier for the rogue male. Things weren't quite so hard.

She swished her tail in between his paws so he could play with it if he wanted. "oh! Another story?" She did love hearing his stories and he had so many of them. They were always good to listen to when they didn't have anything else to do.
Now that she was sitting still she was less tired than she thought she'd be. She had never really given up on playing as she'd grown up so she was used to running around for almost no reason.

He smiled thoughtfully as she swished her tail between his paws, batting at it as she did so, his paws toying with it amusedly. He was amused by simple things sometimes, and this was a way to play around with her without having to waste a lot of energy. Playing with her seemed to be one of his favorite things to do, he was a cub at heart.
"I have many stories about fellows that are down on their luck, sleeping in the cold with no food or water for miles and miles," he said with a chuckle, looking up at her with his emerald eyes. Now that his breath had caught up with him, he wasn't as worn out as he imagined, but he didn't see himself getting up and chasing her anytime soon.

It was nice ot have someone around that appreciated her playing. It made things more interesting and made her days go by better now that Taya was around. He at least liked playing with her and didn't mind the childish things that she did some times.
"It must be horrible being cold and hungry with no one to help you." She shook her head at the idea. "Do the stories at least have happy endings?"

He paused his playing with her tail and instead laid his head upon his paws, her tail trapped comfortably between them, so that his head rested atop it. He smirked, gazing up at her, so that it made him look rather like a cub protecting its favorite toy, or perhaps hiding something they didn't want anyone else to have.
"Yes, well, I imagine that it's very horrible indeed. In the stories, they usually find someone to help them, or come along on a vast treasure and are never hungry and cold again," he chuckled lightly at the thought, wondering what he'd really do if he ever came across a vast treasure all to his own, "so yes, most of them have happy endings."

She tugged at her tail a bit before giving up knowing it was just trapped there until he decided to let it go. "At least he was always nice enough to only hold onto it and not pull.
"But if you were all alone like that then what would you do with a treasure? There'd be no one to share it with ..." If she had a huge treasure she'd rather be able to have fun with it than horde it all alone. "I'd rather have little treasures. like friends." She smiled brightly.

He simply chuckled lightly as she tried to yank her tail away, holding onto it, and then settled down comfortably once she'd decided that it was useless to try and snatch it away.
"Well, sometimes that's the moral of the story," he said with a bit of a shrug, blowing on her tail to see the fur ruffle, amused, "sometimes you want everything in the world and then when you get it, you realize it wasn't what you wanted at all." He grinned, that lopsided charming grin, and nodded at her words. "I'd rather have that too."

"Oh, well those are good stories then." She nodded firmly at that. If they taught you that wanting everything wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Simple things, those were what you should concentrate on. "I'm glad no one i know would go running off in search of treasure and leave everyone behind."
She'd be disappointed in her friends if they did that. Who would she have to talk to if they all disappeared looking for treasure?

"I don't believe there really is such a thing as a bad story," he said with a smirk, continuing his attention at batting and toying with her tail as he spoke. Easily amused, really. "But the ones that teach you a lesson are usually my favorite of all." He nodded, glancing up at her again, letting his attentions upon her tail pause for a moment.
"Well, I'm certainly not going to go off and hunt for treasure. I'm interested only in my stories, and I don't really have any need for treasure anyway," he grinned then, giving her a little laugh, "so you don't have to worry about me doing that anytime soon.

"But aren't stories a treasure in themselves? At least you treasure then right?" She tilted her head slightly as the thought occurred to her. Treasure didn't always have to be riches. The tip of her tail twitched in his grasp as she waited for a moment when she could snatch it back.
"But you said i could come with you. So that's okay since we can look for that sort of treasure together and then i don't have to worry about you going off and leaving me for the treasure"

He chuckled lightly to himself as he thought over her words, pushing himself up into a sitting position, and letting go of her tail all at the same time. "I suppose stories are treasure, at least what I would consider a treasure, so I've been hunting for treasure all along!" He grinned widely in his amusement, batting lightly at the tail he had let go of.
"That means that you are with me on a treasure hunt, my dear! You and I, we're hunting down one of my favorite treasures of all." Oh, but the revelation had pleased him greatly, and the fact that she had made him see it only made his smile for her one of adoration.

"With all the stories you've told me and all the ones you know that you haven't told me you've probably got enough treasure to make anyone jealous." She grinned and got up so she could move to sit next to him. Her tail flopped over his paws as she tilted her head toward him slightly. "That would make you a great explorer. You should be in a story yourself."
She liked that idea. Maybe one day there would be someone to tell the story of the great tale hunter Taya to. "So ... would that make me the damsel in distress? Or the goofy sidekick?" She grinned at him.
