All right guys, we're in the summer season, and that means Fa'e Prom is due to happen. We discussed this stuff a little in a different place, but I wanted to bring it here so that it's more publicly viewable and we can get contributions from as many sources as possible.
Just as a recap and an overview, here are the things we're looking at and things we need to figure out:
NAME AND THEME > "Unnamed", Carnival themed. Name possibilities: "I'll Tumble For Ya", "Under the Big Top", "Carne Vale" (meaning: Farewell to Flesh), "Cirque du Fée".
DATE > Aug. 2nd through Aug. 10th
SETTING > Ideas: At the Tivoli Gardens (or similar). (Mini-map taken on by: Satin Regret)
ACTIVITIES > Ideas: Maze Race, Scavenger Hunt, Fortune Teller's Booth (at entrance? plot-related?), Magic Show, Game Booths, Rides (Ferris Wheel + Carosel + Bumper Cars + Roller Coast = must), Funnel Cake, Fun House. (write-up for some rides taken on by: Satin Regret, write-up taken for the game booths taken by; Chibi Sheepcat)
EVENTS > "Randomized Partners": we want to pair up the Fa'e randomly, to hopefully allow people to get out of their usual RP circles and meet as many of the other Fa'e as possible. Ideas: "Speed Dating", which basically allows people to shuffle through partners easily and often. (planning taken on by: Chibi Sheepcat)
PLOTS??? > Minorly, I'd like to incorporate the plot I'm doing with Nessy and Jun, but I don't want that to be a focus. If there are any other plots out there that can capitalize on Prom, though, I think we should probably invite them. Potentially, Iarla might show up at Prom...? (planning taken on by: Arrien and Nessariah)
PROM PICTURES > Leave it to individual people to get it, or take volunteer artists, or do something to buy art for all the attending Fa'e? Possibility: Faesticks ala Silverah, everyone pitches together for an awesome group pic, people buy their own art + we run a pool to cover for people who are broke
OTHER > Guardian chaperones?
FA'E AND PLANNED COSTUMES > Making a list of definite plans to keep from overlap. Dress code may not be super-formal, given the setting?
Especially, I want to make a list of people that are willing to commit time to the planning of this project. I'm willing to help out all that I can, but especially if there's someone else willing and with the time to take full responsibility, it would be awesomely huge help. The time I put into Prom has to come out of time put into other projects, and while at this point I feel fully capable, if there's someone that has more time on their hands, I'd be happy to let it go to someone else.
When it comes to planning things out, I'd like to emphasize that everyone is invited to pitch in ideas. If you want to join the committee with a more serious commitment, let us know what you have to contribute (even if it's just bits of support!), and if you have AIM, make sure we have it as well so we can organize planning and brainstorming sessions.
We need all the help we can get to help this live up to the example of previous years, so let's do it!
