Am I the only guildy here without a 70?
PostPosted: Thu May 29, 2008 11:23 pm

Of course not. Even if you were, why would it matter?

Hell, I've been playing since before Retail and I still don't have a 70.

It doesn't matter if you get to 70 or not.

((Personally, I find that if you have alot of 70s, that means you don't reall have a life outside of WoW..))

After all, it's just a number. And in a year or so, the level cap will be at 80, so being 70 doesn't matter anymore.

Yeah, sadly, I have three, working slowly on a fourth quite possibly. My boyfriend has five and working on a sixth just as slowly. We help manage a raid group so it's a lot of time making sure people get their alts in and aren't on the same character all the freaking time.

But yeah, we don't have much of a life. Anymore with gas prices, we can't afford to go to the movies often. We still go walking 5+miles a day and go to school (and in my case go to work on top of school). We just spend our free time leveling characters together since it's a cheap way to spend time together.

But, once you get to 70, it's all getting prepped for raids, or pvp, and the same crazy tasks, like doing dailies so you can get an epic mount and pay for just as epic repair bills. I seriously like leveling more.

I used to think that too. When I had one 70 my friend had four or five, and I was like, "Wow....no life...," but I changed my tune shortly after that!

I found that my first character was the toughest and slowest (makes sense). After that though, I already knew the quests, knew where everything was, knew how to get gold, etc., so leveling another 70 takes a lot less time and effort than leveling the first. So while I busted my butt for my first 70, I also have a second and third 70 that came pretty easily!

Well, it also helps that I don't have a job and that I run a guild. Since I don't work outside the home (homemaker FTW), I have plenty of time to play (obviously). And since my partner and I run a guild together, he asks me to log on frequently to make sure everything is ok in the guild. xp

But overall, I think I might be a bit like ScarletElegance. I enjoy leveling, I don't want to go out and spend a bunch of money, and WoW is something I can do with my partner.

Yeah, WoW has been my cheap alternative to having a life for a long time. XD Gas is up to $4.25 in Hawaii now - I'm still in Florida, but when I get back, I'm going to be spending about $40 a week in gas just getting to & from school/work. And I only make ~$100 a week. >_< When the beach is a 50 mile trip, the movie tickets cost about $9 (& the movies all ******** suck), & there's really nothing else to do on that rock, WoW is great.

God ******** dammit Lorie I need you to stop making kickass avatars, its putting a huge kink in my epeen.

I've been playing for 3 years and I only have one 70. I also have a 62, 42, 32, 29, 28 and about a billion toons lv 20 and below, but the majority of my WoW time is spent on the 70.
I go to art school, do an online socials course, work part-time, have a boyfriend, and I also do artwork as a hobby/do commissions for spare change.
I'm also a knowledgeable and well-liked officer in one of the biggest guilds on the server, and the most popular 'casual' guild in any server I've played on. I raid on the weekends and sometimes manage to squeeze in an instance on the weekdays. I play DnD every friday night with my friends, and frequent Gaia, 4chan and Deviant Art. I also play a lot of Guitar Hero, plus random s**t on my xbox and ps2.

The argument has been made before, so here it goes again. I fail to see how playing WoW and having a lot of characters/multiple 70s means I don't have a life, and your statement was incredibly ignorant.

That first 70 is always the slowest time. My third character was about 9 days to 70, granted that was post 2.3 leveling nerf.

I think it should be more about enjoying the game then the lvling anyway i have people that stop and pvp for about 2 days straight when they hit the top lvl bracket (19,29... etc) just for the gear that it offers. i also have lvl 70 friends that have a life out side of WOW.

I have two 70s. Soon to be three. Then I'm gonna level a Paladin prot, from 1-70.

Me too! I am leveling a prot paladin (she's currently 23) and a holy priest (currently 32) for something a little different. So far they both stay alive a decent amount of time, but it takes them forever to kill stuff. My holy priest has been solo so far, but my paladin has a holy priest leveling buddy, so I never play her without him.

They're okay at soloing until you hit Outland, then its nearly impossible, even in good gear. It takes all your mana to kill ONE thing, and you know how Hellfire loves to group mobs up...yeah. Looooots of dying.
I'd either suggest going shadow from 58/60 -> 70 or sticking the priest on the backburner unless you see an ad in LFG or Trade for a healer.
Personal experience sad

I'm still finding the leveling slow once I hit OL, its a loooong 12 levels lol. My warrior gets played a couple hours every couple of weeks, and so far hes at lv 62 and about halfway to 63...can't wait to hit 70 with him biggrin I can't decide if I want to go raid fury or raid offtank. Fury looks fun, tanking looks like a challenge (its a little intimidating, honestly...if you ******** up, people notice lol)

Yeah, I bet! I freaking hated soloing in Hellfire, even on my warlock.

I have a 70 shadow priest. I really don't mind leveling priests, but I didn't want to level another shadow priest. I knew it might be tough, but I wanted to do something other than shadow, even to level. xp It takes longer and longer for my holy priest to kill stuff every level though, so I'll probably group up with my friend's shaman somewhere between now and level 40. xp We're both on a lot, so we often level alts together anyway.

As for warriors, well tanks are needed more on my server than DPS, so I would say go tank, but every server has slightly different needs I suppose. xp And yeah, like you said, it's easier to notice when a tank screws up. xp I have a guy in my guild who was a DPS warrior. He wanted to go tank when he got the gear, so we got him the Kara gear, and he respecced. Only problem now is that he doesn't have the experience/skill to back it up. So now we have to take him through regular five mans because he can't main tank Kara or heroics yet. So that kind of stinks. So if you have a guild or a group of friends you often play with, maybe you could try going tank somewhere around level 65 so you could get the practice as a tank in case that is what you decide to do? That way, you'd be ready to go at level 70 rather than ready to take step back in order to practice like that guy is doing... That's what I did with my shaman too, respecced her to resto before level 70 to get some healing practice beforehand to make sure I could heal stuff like heroics and Kara as soon as I turned 70. But...do what you think you will have fun with! xp /endrant
