The technological wonder city on the eastern continent, Esthar is the origin of many technological devices used by the rest of the world.

Esthar's main city is a sprawling metropolis connected by series of transparent skyways. The largest building here is the Presidential Palace. Laguna Loire is the current president of Esthar. Dr. Odine's lab can also be found inside the city.

Outside the city, one can find the abandoned Lunatic Pandora research facility, as well as Tears' Point, and the famous Sorceress Memorial sealing facility.

As a result of technological research, much of Esthar's land area is a vast desert, and the huge lake to the west of the city has dried up and turned into a vast field of salt.

The train schreeched to a halt, steam billowing all around. Sylvalee woke drearily and peered out the window. The train at come to it's end at a supplie depot. Piles and piles of steel and minerals surounded the train. She left the train and headed along the road towards esthar city, following a group of workers. Sylvalee looked disapointed as the neared a large canyon, dreading the walk through it. Curiously, something flickered ahead of them. As they reached the edge of the canyon, a worker reached out. The flickering image became a door, which opened. Confused, Sylvalee followed the workers through the door.

Sudenly she was asaulted by the dazeling lights of esthar, as if the city had sprung up before her eyes. Transperent roads and tubes ran all through the sky, bright blue and red buildings were lit up everywhere. The workers all sat on a large disk with a seat in the middle. Sylvalee did the same. Slowly an energy began to mount under the disk and it began to float and spin. Sudenly the disk propeled through a tube at high speeds, spining and bobbing. Sylvalee was dazed at the blured colors spinning all around her, light surounding them then fading then returning again. Then it was all over, and the disk sat motionless inside a large building. Happy people in robes walked in and out of shops. She stood and looked around. She was in a shopping mall. She walked up to a terminal and hit the activate button. A list of shops and services confronted her. Hse hit the travel option then selected the Timber Route via Fishermans Horison and the rail bridge. The termanil printed out a ticket. She grabbed in and wandered off to explore the city.

As she was about to enter the train, Sylvalee noticed a striking man walk past. He wore a plain light colored shirt and had a long, jet black pony tail. She smiled at him, making her forget where she was.
"ALL ABOARD!" the station master bellowed.
Syl snapped back to things at hand and boarded the train. Next stop, Fisherman's Horizon.

Squall stood on the balcony of the hotel that the headmasters of the three Gardens had been given rooms at for the duration of the conference. He sighed heavily, wishing that Rinoa were here with him. He'd give his left arm to see her smile, his right to hear her angelic voice. Placing his gloved hands on the railing, he wondered how she was doing back at Garden without him.

"Probably miserable... Just like me."

Sighing, Squall stepped off the balcony, sealing out the frigid night air with the shutting of the sliding doors behind him.

He walked over to the farther of the two beds in the room and flopped down on it, staring up at the ceiling, his left arm over his forehead and his right dangling off the side of the bed.

Suddenly, an idea struck him. He rolled over, snatched up the phone from the nightstand, and dialed a number back to Balamb Town...

Squall paused suddenly, causing the man on the other end of the line to think that he'd been disconnected.

No, I'm still here. I'm...trying to think of what to say.

"Right. I understand. Take your time, son."

He ignored the fact that the man called him 'son,' a pronoun which he hated when used in reference to him. He ran many different word combinations through his head, most of them trite or retarded-sounding. It took him about ten minutes, but finally he decided.

Okay, here's what I want you to tell her...

Halfway around the world, sitting in the hotel room that had been given to him, Squall leaned his head back against the headboard, his right hand covering his face in a poor attempt to quell the tears he felt rising to the surface.

The words of the song and his message to Rinoa had a more profound effect on him than he'd anticipated. Deep down inside, he knew that calling in that request had hurt her more than it had comforted her. And that's what made him hurt.

He sighed, staring painfully at the ceiling, thankful for the fact that there was no conference today, and that he had the entire day to himself. He'd spend it all here, trying not to cry.

She was coming out of the Alchemist's house, backpack slung over her shoulder, humming softly beneath her breath. She'd told him she was only going to be out for a while, which was the truth. She hadn't planned a long outing, after all, they still had plans to discuss, but hey, that's how these things worked.

There was a soft grunt, as the sound of shouting was heard from behind her, she stiffened with a groan, and started off at a run. Damn, and here she'd thought she'd managed to lose them. Here we go again!

Squall sat tiredly on the edge of one of Esthar's skyways, attempting to catch his breath. The walk all the way across the Horizon Bridge had been extremely tiresome, as Fishermans Horizon had flat refused to allow him into the town. Word of the Timber massacre had apparently spread.

He'd have to find a hotel to crash at tonight, and head on to speak with Laguna about the current situation with Garden in the morning...

It might have been the sound of footsteps slamming against the ground that would draw his attention. It might have been the sound of a girl shouting as she was tackled from behind. Or it might have been the high pitched male scream of pain that followed it, but if Squall turned his head, he'd spot a figure all in white, blonde hair streaming down her back, facing down a group of three gruff looking men, a pistol in one hand, and what looked like, yep, a grenade in the other.

"C'mon you bastards, I'll give ya what for!"

He took a half-glance over his shoulder, raised an eyebrow, then shrugged and turned back away. It was none of his business.

"Galbadian b***h! Give us back our amulet!"

She raised a brow softly, and gave a sharp shake of her head, before the pin was pulled, and the grenade was thrown. It bounced a couple of times as it rolled towards them, and then ran, diving off to the side, before it exploded in a brilliance of streamers, and light, leaving them temporarily petrified.

??? laughed, as she turned back towards the street, dusting her hands and shouldering her backpack once again.

"That'll teach you to mess with a legendary Treasure Hunter!"

His head snapped around the moment he heard the term 'Galbadian' used in reference to this woman. Standing up, he spun around in her direction, keeping his hand loose on the hilt of his gunblade.

So you're Galbadian.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 19, 2004 10:27 pm

She turned slowly, when she was referred to as Galbadian. Green eyes skimmed slowly up the length of the man infront of her, and she gave a surprisingly pleasant smile. Either she hadn't heard about the massacre, or she just didn't care.

"Eh? Yeah, I'm Galbadian.. why?"

He didn't make any outward physical show of aggression, but he also hadn't been able to wash all of the blood out of his jacket by scrubbing it in a river. It was obvious that, whatever he was about, he meant serious business.

Associated with the army, by chance?
