Sniffing the air, the hyena let out a low whoop. Behind him, he heard the stirring of another form. Before him... He could see the rising sun. It had taken walking all night, but they were here... He knew it. Looking back, he let a grin cross his maw. "Kito, we're there..."

Stepping up next to her friend, the cheetah watched the sun rising. It was beautiful... Blue eyes met orange before the pale cat looked again in the distance. "My family... They're here, I can feel it..." She returned her gaze to Tuna. "And I know you know it." Smiling, Kito turned and began to trot, heading into the lands she knew her parents and sibblings were in.

It was ironic that the the whoop of the hyena was what caught Aailyah's attention and not the approaching young cheetah. The sound was something she had heard as a kitten and a reminder of a very painful past. As the hyena continued to approach the coalition's lands, Aailyah's body became tense. They had found a new territory, but not without loss and heartbreak. The demon pride had taken over the original land that Aailyah was beginning to claim as their own. Because there were few cheetahs and many more lions, they easily took over. Aailyah was thankful that many of the cheetahs she had grown close to had survived, but knew now that they needed to be even more protective of their borders - at least until the surrounding groups understood they were serious.

Stepping out from behind a tall tree, the pure white cheetah's eyes narrowed to get a better look at the approaching hyena. Not much longer, however, a second cheetah also appeared from behind the creature. Before releasing a light hiss, Aailyah noticed that the two were comfortable in one another's company. It took all of Aailyah's self control to remain calm in the presense of the hyena, but she knew that this cheetah was there for a reason. "What brings you here, sister?" She called out to Kito.

Looking up, Kito's ears promptly perked up. Another cheetah! "I came looking for my family... I'm told my parents and brothers and sisters are here..." She glanced at Tuna, smiling. "Tuna helped me get here."

He knew she wasn't happy he was there, so he remained calm and silent. A wild-born animal at the sanctuary, permanentally there due to a lost limb, had told him that out there, hyenas were not welcomed by many, and Tuna knew this was one of those places he wasn't welcome. He was there to bring Kito home, and that was it.

When Kito's expression lightened and she seemed to have found what she was looking for, Aailyah's body released some of its tension. She was still uncomfortable in the presense of the hyena, but was not about to announce this in front of a potential member of the coalition - especially if they were there in search of their family.

With simply the knowledge that the spotted cheetah's family was there, Aailyah would be entirely lost in finding them. By her appearance, the head seer could not think of anyone who resembled her closely. Thinking for a moment, Aailyah then remembered those who passed in the attack from the demon lions and released a deep, worried sigh.

Aailyah could not help but watch Tuna carefully, as though she clearly did not trust him and was worried in his presense. Returning her gaze to Kito, she carefully asked, "May I ask the names of your parents? Maybe have come to the coalition and surely I can better assist you if I knew just who it was you were looking for?"

Face brightening, she motioned a bit. "Well, my mother's got sort of squiggly markings, and her belly markings are this color..." She pointed to her lighter spots. "And my father's black with orange spots, and white streaks in his hair..." She tried to think of their names, but was having trouble. It was on the tip of her tongue, she just knew it...

Watching his friend, Tuna couldn't help but chuckle. He glanced again at the other cheetah, watching her. Sitting down, he tilted his head. Let them talk, his mind said. She needed this.

Aailyah watched as Kito tried to explain her parents by their markings. While this was not the easiest way for the head seer to match the parents, it did help much more than the young cheetah's appearance alone. With a sad smile, Aailyah listened carefully, wondering if Kito had been seperated as a kitten and was only able to find her parents now. A part of Aailyah was so glad that the coalition helped put the family together, but another part of the cheetah wished that she had done so earlier.

When Tuna chuckled, Aailyah looked to the hyena sternly. This was certainly no laughing matter! The poor cheetah was seperated from her family and was struggling to return. Saying nothing, the cheetah's expression was enough. When she saw the way the two interacted with one another, however, she couldn't help but wonder if perhaps not all of them were as dangerous as she believed. Obviously Tuna helped Kito out quite a bit.

As though it literally hit her, Aailyah raised a paw as though to point out. "Ah! Yes! Colche! She only recently came to the coalition. She managed to find us after hearing of the attack!"

Her eyes positively lit up at the name, and the information. "They're here! They're really here!" She jumped into the hair happily, like she'd seen a gazelle do back at the sanctuary, then looked at Tuna. "Tuna, my family's here, in these lands! We found them!"

Flicking his ears, the hyena nodded. Finally, he spoke. "I told you they were here..." When the cheetah leaned on him, he gave her a hug, patting her back. When he let go, he bowed his head. "But now... I should go." He looked at Aailyah. "This is no land for a hyena. It's only for the cheetahs, and only those of pure blood." He gave her a look, one that spoke that he, too, could see things.

Aailyah beamed with pride and happiness as she watched Kito jump up and down excitedly at the news of her parents. They must have cared a great deal for one another and surely Colche would be estatic to hear that one of her kittens had returned to her. Aailyah could not imagine the overwhelming happiness that would overcome her if one of her own kittens chose to return. Having seen glimpses of the future, Aailyah could safely say that she doubted that would ever be the case. Despite this, the white cheetah was able to be happy for Kito and her family.

As she waited for the young cheetah to follow, she observed the continued behavior between the two. Tuna had obviously cared a great deal for the spotted female and had even helped her find her way to the coalition's lands. As they hugged, the proud cheetah turned her head, feeling a slight pain within her chest. Despite his species, he seemed to be alright. When he expressed the need to go, Aailyah returned the gaze and nodded. She was glad that the hyena understood the rules of their lands.

Surprising even herself, Aailyah offered something more to the hyena, "I appreciate your helping this young cheetah make her way to her family. You have done such a noble deed that I cannot help but thank you."

Bowing his head, the hyena turned and started to walk. There was no looking back, no last glances. This was Kito's place, not his. Tuna still had his place to find, to locate. He knew where it was, it just just seeking it. Before he fully vanished from the lands, he paused and let out a whoop into the wind, then loped off.

Watching her friend leave, Kito felt a hole in her very heart. Goodbyes were never easy... She looked back to Aailyah, tail curling. "Okay..." She started to follow, paws stepping carefully into uncertain territory. "I guess it's time to go... Home..." A fluttering in her stomach at the word... Not a bad flutter, but a happy flutter. Home... Her family.... She paused, looking back to where Tuna had gone, listening to the last whoop. Her gaze returned to the adult cheetah, and she nodded her head. It was time, and she was ready.

The fact that the hyena simply allowed his very close friend to go seemed noble to Aailyah. They say that if you love someone, you must be able to let them go. The cheetah, having an incredibly low opinion of an array of other creatures, summed hyenas into the group as well. The dogs were, at times, known for killing cheetah cubs and this was an act unforgiven as a whole. The act of Tuna, however, was something that would certainly leave an impression on the jaded female cheetah and this brought a smile to her face.

Returning to her gaze to Kito, the motherly female beamed with pride. The young cheetah was rather gorgeous and she was glad that news of the coalition was spreading to those of younger ages as well. She was surprised that a younger cheetah was entirely willing to make the trek almost alone. When Kito began to follow, Aailyah continued to move, careful not the leave the smaller female behind.

While Aailyah kept her site forward, she was glad to hear Kito call the coalition home. It was what Aailyah intended for it to be for any lonely cheetah who longed for a place to belong. It was their safe haven and a place where they could all be protected. Smiling, Aailyah tried to make their journey more pleasant. "You will be one of the first adolescents to join us. I feel you will contribute a great deal to the upcoming generation." Each cheetah was an honored contribution and all were respected as equal members of a whole.

She smiled, nodding. It made her feel proud, to be one of the first. And she supposed... This had all started, because she went running after a bird. Paws lifting high, she trotted beside the older female. All she could think about was... She was home, and she was welcomed with open paws.
