I've never read Julius Cesar, but by the sounds of it, they are rather similar. I've already got this weird image of L with a laurel wreath around his head...

You know, it does kinda of sound like it and possibly could be a source of inspiration but really, most stories with great plot lines seemed to be based off of Shakespeare. And don't feel bad, no one reads my thread either. >>

Y'know, I didn't really think about it until I reread it today. But it is very similar, just like the Lion King seems to be based off of Hamlet. :]
I think it's cool, though. Shakespeare's awesome, and I love his stories and plays.

It does seem loosely based on Julius Ceasar. I picked out Light and Brutus, even though Brutus isn't nearly the crazy b*****d that Light is.
I have not yet read a Shakespeare play that I've liked, and Julius Ceasar was probably the worst. The plots just don't interest me.

I see what you are getting at. But Caesar was thought to be either a Tyrant, or for the peasants. So I would not put L as Caesar. The only resemblances are the one you stated, and that they were for their people and tried helping them...
...I wonder if there were any stories like these in Roman times...
