She'd wandered away from the jungles again and across the plain. There still wasn't much to see except for grass, grass, and more grass. There was the occasional tree here and there but not much else for her enjoyment.

Sighing she flopped down into the cool dirt under a bush. "Must be the heat. It can't be -this- empty everywhere." She scrunched her nose as she rolled onto her back. All she wanted to do was meet others and make friends. It was a little hard to do that when you went days without seeing anything but lunch and dinner though.

"Oh where, oh where has everyone gone.." She snickered slightly as she spoke to herself in a sing-song voice.

The sandy colored male often missed civilization, interaction, the chance to talk freely with anyone he wished on any given day. He couldn't count the days since he'd last been in a pride, since he'd last decided to move on, but his restless spirit was never quite satisfied with staying in one place for long. He was a great storyteller, a traveler with more tales filling his head than one could even begin to imagine, and he spent his days telling anyone that would listen. Pleasing others with his stories, seeing the smile upon a cubs face, it was a glorious thing.

His gaze flickered upward as the scent of another caught his attention, causing him to pause in his steps. It took him a few moments to locate the figure that drew him, as shadowy toned as she was and hiding in the shadow of a bush. Still, once he had found her, a pleasant smile spread across his maw and his path was altered to head directly towards her. As he neared, her just happened to overhear that sing-song voice, that question she asked of no one. Luckily enough for her, he was there to answer it.

"Perhaps they've all flown to the moon," he said with a bit a quirk of his brow, tilting his head and gazing at the sky, "I should think they'll be back come nightfall."

She tensed slightly when she heard a voice, not having heard the male approach, and tilted her head back to see what it was. A lion...

"The moon? But why go there? There's nothing up there but lots and lots of gray." She grinned slightly as she rolled over onto her stomach so she wasn't looking at him upside down anymore. There could certainly be better places to go than up to something that looked cold and lonely and borring.

Finding the grin on her face, Tayammum happily plopped down to sit near her (not in her personal space, but not as far away as one might expect a total stranger) and seemed to consider her question. He didn't seemed bothered at all by the fact that they were total strangers, or that they had started up such an odd conversation without so much as introducing themselves. He just let that grin stay plastered happily to his face, and his eyes swept up to the sky as if he could see the moon in the glaring daylight.

"How would you know that there's nothing up there but lots of gray? Perhaps the gods have hidden away secrets upon the moon?" he chuckled and turned his emerald eyes back down to look at her, eyebrows rising at the thought.

"I'd think that if there was something up there someone would know. I mean the gods would tell -someone-. Unless it was meant just for them but if that were the case then no one would be taking vacations there." She smiled brightly at him. She was used to meeting strangers so had no problems with ignoring the usual procedures of introductions.

"Besides, that's a long way to travel for a bit of fun when you could have the same fun here if you just tried hard enough"

"Maybe they have told someone, and perhaps that is why everyone has gone to look?" he purred lightly to himself at the thought, no doubt toying with the idea of a hundred new stories from the simple conversation. "After all, it only takes a little bait to lure." He knew the notion was silly, but silliness was what he did best. His imagination often ran wild, and that was what had set him so far apart from his original pride to begin with.

"Oh, no doubt that you could have the same fun here if you tried hard enough, but I would think that flying to the moon is probably much more majestic," he purred to himself, glancing to the sky momentarily once more, then back to her. Dipping his head, he shut his eyes, a bow well practiced, "My name is Tayammum."

"That woudn't be at all fair. Here i am out looking for conversation and companionship for a bit and everyone's gone off to play on the moon." She couldn't keep the grin off her face as she huffed at the notion. "If they were going to do something like that they should have made sure everyone knew first. Fair and all."

She nodded a bit before looking at him. "Taya .... I'm Kinyamkela"
PostPosted: Wed May 28, 2008 1:54 pm

"Oh, no, I suppose that wouldn't be very fair at all. Here they've left you all alone while they've gone off to discover great and wonderful things," he huffed lightly, flickering his tail as if it truly did grind his gears, much more capable of keeping a straight face than she was when he was pretending so pleasantly. "Maybe it's a game, though. Perhaps you were supposed to find something else first? It wouldn't be the first time that a god decided to play a game with a mortal." Oh, he had stories upon stories filled with those sorts of tales.

"It is very nice to meet you, Kinyamkela. What, pray tell, has you sitting out here alone - other than the fact that everyone has obviously abandoned you to go to the moon?" He offered her a lopsided grin, his eyes dancing, but he said his words without pause.

"That's not very nice of them and i think if the Gods are going to play games with me then i'm just not going to fall for it." She nodded sharply. "They can play games with someone else."

She could have fun without them anyway. Ears flicking slightly she thought about what exactaly she was doing. "Wandering. Looking for new things and such." Nothing too interesting unless one of those new things happened to turn out to be something interesting. Like this lion for instance.

"Some of the best stories come from when gods play games with mortals though," he said with a soft 'tsk', though his grin reappeared, lopsided and amusing as ever. "Great adventures make for great stories, and great stories make for happy faces," it was obvious by his words just what his opinion of stories were - he did truly love them. He loved to tell, loved to listen, loved to learn and spread them.

"It's always good to wander, I get the best ideas from wandering at times, especially when I find new and interesting things." She seemed to be interesting, and he had already gotten an idea for a great new story from her.

"I've never heard those sorts of stories that didn't have horrible endings." The only toying with mortals stories she'd ever come across always ended up with the mortal either dead or suffering. Those didn't seem like good stories to her. "There are other ones though? And you've heard them?"

She shifted a bit so she could look at him better. "I love stores. Can you tell me one? Pretty please?"

It had been so long since she'd heard a good story. She couldn't even really remember the last time she'd gotten to sit down and listen to one.

"You've never heard one that didn't have a horrible ending? Well, those don't sound like very good stories at all." He wrinkled his nose at the thought, then shook his head as he glanced back at her once more. He knew tragedies and comedies, romances and terror tales. He knew a little of everything, loved them all, and loved to tell anyone willing to listen - even more so when asked. "Of course I've heard them, I've heard amazing stories, so many stories!" He waved his paw as he spoke, spreading it out to his side to indicate a huge amount.

"Of course I can tell you a story, darling," he said with a purr, the grin on his maw widening as he spoke, settling comfortably to face her as he thought them over. "What would you like to hear? A story about a god and a mortal, without a terrible ending?"

"Oh yes please!" Her ears perked up and she made herself comfortable while sitting so she could watch him. "I would love to hear one that has a happy ending." That way she wouldn't be able to say she'd never heard one anymore. Wonderful excuse to hear a story if she ever did find one.

"Maybe something in a lot of action and twists and turns?" If he knew something like that at least.

"Something with a lot of action and twists and turns.." he repeated slowly, wrinkling up his nose and looking upwards at the sky as he thought, almost as if he were looking through the files of his mind. Then, a slow smirk spread across his maw and he nodded, settling himself comfortably and looking down at her. "I think I know just the story for you, little lady."

He cleared his throat, and began, "there was once a very lonely god," came the words. The voice he used to tell his story was one quite a bit more eloquent than his normal one, much more grand, and he put a lot of effort and enthusiasm into making it interesting. He spun his tail out for her, a tail of adventure, of a mortal outwitting a god with his own tricks, winning in the end and living happily ever after.

"And that, my dear, is how you play a game with a mortal and win," he said with a soft chuckle, a sparkle in his eyes, obviously pleased that he had gotten to tell a story.

She listened intently to his story and manged to keep herself quiet for the most part. It was a wonderful tale and even if it wasn't true at least it was believable. She decided not to ask if it was a real story just in case it wasn't. it was nicer to think that it was real anyway.

"I never would have thought of things that way ..." She laughed softly at the end of his story. "I'm not smart enough to play with Gods like that. I'd get all confused and end up with the short end of the stick"
