Which race PWNS more with this class
Gnomes have 5% int Bonus and escape artist working for them. also 10res Arcane
Blood elf got Mana Tap/Silence working for them + 5res to all

Blood elves make the better mage out of the two. blink > escape artist

For PvE endgame raiding, Gnome mages might have a better preference, since they have 5% increase to all int, which can help last just a bit longer for boss fights, and in fights, just a bit can go a long way wink

belf mages have s**t casting animations imo :p
It really just depends on what you want to do. Belf is prolly going to be better for pvp, and gnomes better for pve.

Gnomes would be far better for PVE because of the increased intellect, escape artist isn't that great IMO
However, Blood Elves silence can be very handy for pvp, but it's not all that great.
However, alliance suck and horde rule, so you'd have to go for a troll because they get beserking razz

draenei have + 10 shadow resistance. also +5 jewelcrafting, which comes in handy. gift of the naaru is great for fast heal.
meh, blood elf > gnome, they mana tap and aoe silence.

Mana eventually evens out with other classes as you level, so Blood elf for the mana tap, helps with mana regeneration in Raiding, and silence in PvP. Blink is btter than escape artist, and Bood elves also have a higher enchanting skill, good for enchanters

I prefer Gnomes over Blood elves.
5% Intellect translates into Mana, Spell Crits, and with talents: Spell damage, and Mana regen.
People underestimate the usefulness of Escape artist. ((Since, I bet you anything that the blood elf mages in this guild never fully pvped as a gnome mage)). While Blink is a better asset than Escape artist, Escape artist only adds to the escape repertoire that mages already have. Blink, Ice Block, Blazing speed (with talents), frost nova, and you're adding an instant-cast Escape Artist at that? Personally, sign me up! A rogue can't touch a good gnome mage.
Mana Tap is alright... around level 20 or so... Let's face it, a blood elf barely gets 500 mana on a full discharge of mana tap at level 70 ((161 mana per charge)). The Mana tap racial is only really useful for paladins who have lower mana pools and for rogues ((Which blood elves SHOULDN'T be in the first place...)) Really, Mana tap isn't all that useful since you'll get about... 1 1/2 more spells from 500 mana.
Arcane Torrent... Hmm... Good PvP trait, but so is Escape Artist. Really, I don't see Arcane Torrent any much different than a lazy form of Counterspell, just as Escape artist is just a lazy Blink. Overall, both traits even out to me.
To my scoring. Gnomes > Blood elves.
To add more insult to injury. Blizzard made Blood elf animations really crappy. Their clumsy looking when they wield their weapons, they have horrible casting poses (More applies to the male than female), and the transition between animations is god-awful.
Yup, definitely Gnomes for me.

Truly the case isnt which is better.
Gnome or Belf.
Both are on 2 seperate faction so the real question is.
Horde or Alliance.

I agree with everything they said EXCEPT BE's can be rogues cause they look pimp stealthed XD otherwise no they can't, lawl, much better choice to go orc or troll IMO(for rogues)

After rethinking this over and over ( not....), I'd have to go with the Blood Elf, and not just because I'm Horde. They can suck mana to benefit their silence. Their silence regenerates mana for however many charges you have built up(you can have up to 3 on you at once).
