Tuli soared over head, her wings stretched as far as they would go as she glided above the plains below her. The summer sun on her coat was warm, but the wind blowing over her body kept it from being unbearable.
She found herself rambling alone much of the time now. Her brothers were busy with new friends, her parents busy with one another...and Tuli, she just hadn't been the best at meeting new people.
She knew that Mel visited the plains frequently, he enjoyed wide open spaces to run. She hoped that maybe she would run in to him today. She needed more advice on how to approach others. Karma, she hadn't seen Karma in ages. She wondered...how was he?

 Mel was laying happily in a bright patch of sunlight, letting his dark fur soak up all the warmth. He'd been way too active lately with all of the new faces he had met so today he was just going lay in the sun all day long. Well unless someone came and found him instead.
Not too long after he'd closed his eyes and he was now fully baking in the sun he heard wings up above somewhere in the distance. A bird? No sounded too big to be a simple bird. His curiousity always getting the best of him he grunted and had to open his eyes to see what it was. To his shock it was a familiar face! "Tuli!" he shouted as he jolted upright. It was so good to see his sister's face again!

Karma spiraled towards the ground in wide and sweeping circles. He was home, or at least close to it. He had ventured far and wide since becoming an adult and learning how to use his wings but lately he had felt a soft sort of longing to see familiar lands and faces again. He had turned his flight then, heading back towards sunrise and the place that his family used to live.
He landed in the plains near the mountains where his parents lived but quickly moved into the shelter of a copse of trees. His long flight in the sun had heated him and he enjoyed standing there in the shade for several moments. He'd walk the rest of the way towards his parents' territory, he decided. He'd be more likely to find them on the way if he did.
He was contemplating this when he noticed a blue speck in the sky that seemed to grow steadily larger. It looked like a wind... not just any wind, it looked like his sister.
My arrival was well timed, he thought while watching her descend. He moved out of the trees when he saw her nearing ground and was surprised to see not only one but two siblings gathered together there. Whatever fate had brought him there at the same time as his sister had apparently thought to bring his brother along as well. He stepped back out into the sunlight and walked towards his siblings. He didn't call to them but inclined his head in greeting. It had been a long time since all three were together.

Tuli smiled as she spotted a blue mass in the plain that was calling to her, as she decended, she realized it was her brother.
"Mel! Mel!" She nickered and kicked her feet in the wind as if it really made her go faster. Her hooves touched the ground and she just continued on moving right over to Mel. "I was looking for you!" she nuzzled his neck in greeting.
She took a few steps back, looking him over to make sure he was okay. From over his shoulder she noted another blue spot in the distance that seemed to be heading toward the two.
"Karma?" she asked herself, she looked to Mel and asked him, "Mel, take a look....Is that Karma?" She squinted trying to make out the coat colorings.

Mel smiled a big a grin and trotted forward to try and meet her half way but she was a lot faster than him. "It's so good to see you, Tuli! How've you been? You look like you're in one piece. I missed you so much!" He nuzzled her cheek and started to chew on a strand of her hair when she mentioned someone else coming towards them. Turning, he peered off into the distance and his grin returned. "Duh, I'd know my twin anywhere! The green hair's a giveaway too. Karma! Get your winged butt over here!" He nudged his sister to follow and started towards their brother. It was so great to see his siblings again. Now all they needed was mom and dad and the family would be back together again.

Mel's greeting served as a potent reminder of their childhood together. Karma recalled back to those days spent on spindly legs. Mel seemed to still be exuberant, Tuli vivacious, and himself... himself. He did smile upon being reunited with his siblings but his reaction was nowhere near the excitement from Tuli and Mel. As usual he was quiet, reserved.
"Hello, Tuli, Mel," he said to each of them in turn. "It is good fortune that brings us all together here." Such good fortune did not happen often. Karma had to wonder, was there some deeper meaning behind such a meeting?

Tuli followed Mel's lead and made her way over to Karma. She nickered excitedly in greetings and laughed. "Karma, it's been so long! Where have you been?"
She nipped at his mane playfully, her normal greeting for her brothers. She nudged up against him, playfully teasing him "We hear.....We hear Karma has a lady friend these days."
She eyed her brother, curious as to where he'd been for so long. It had been ages it seemed like since she or Mel had seen him. She turned and nudged Mel, "You know Mel has one too, don't ya?"

Mel nudged his brother in greeting and smiled looking back and forth between his sister and brother. Such great memories surrounded all of them, especially of their childhood. A time when they were always together and no one else mattered except for family. He laughed when Tuli mentioned Karma's lady friend that he had met earlier but stopped and blinked when she mentioned HIS lady friend. "I don't know what on earth you're talking about. Sure I've met plenty of ladies and yes they're my friends but I have no such thing as a 'lady friend' because I know there's a deep dark meaning behind those words mean GIRL friend. Which I do not have." He stuck his tongue out at his sister and smirked at his brother. "I met Alyna, you're 'LADY FRIEND'" he gave more emphasis on lady friend and shot his sister a look. "She's nice, seemed to really like you. She was looking for you too by the way."

... Alyna was his "lady friend" now? Karma blinked once and then again when the implications sunk in. His siblings were quite fond of leaping to conclusions and he wasn't quite certain what to say in response to them. His wings shifted awkwardly on his back but he stilled them quickly. He had nothing to be ashamed of or regret. He simply had to explain things.
"Alyna was a friend of mine that I met as a foal, yes, and I hadn't known she was looking for me." He resisted the urge to shuffle his wings more as he continued. "I don't believe that she is as much a... a 'lady friend' as you seem to wish to believe."

"You two are both full of it!" She nickered and laughed, "But, I'll say I believe you both....for now."
She stood their quietly looking between them both, she couldn't stop herself, "But, when my nieces and nephews arrive, I demand to visit when I want." She danced back and forth for a moment.
"So what's she like, Karma?" Her ears perked, he seemed more willing to talk about his 'friend' than Mel was. Mel just seemed to move around the subject.

"Suuuure Karma, whatever you say. And it's the truth, Tuli!" he said with a wrinkle of his nose. He tugged on her ear and then her hair. He couldn't tease her about anything so picking on her physically was the only thing he could do. "Someday you're gonna meet a guy friend and I'm gonna be teasing you of every second of every day I see you. Guarenteed," he said with a smirk.

Mel's attention turned on their sister and Karma was quite content to let him continue. This sort of interactions, while friendly on his sibling's behalf, always left him quiet and lacking words to say. He had no aptitude for the sort of friendly banter that they reveled in.
He couldn't even think of anything to say to the current conversation so lapsed into silence instead, watching his siblings with the blue eyes that he and his brother shared.

"What, you won't tell me either?" She looked over to Karma as Mel nipped and tugged on her.
She turned her head quickly to catch Mel off guard, nipping at his rear with a laugh. "So where've you been lately?" She was asking the two of them even though she was facing Mel. "I haven't seen either of you in what seems like ages. Tell me stories!" Tuli never wandered far from their father's side, she still hadn't gotten brave enough to really explore far from home for too long.

Mel started chewing on her hair as he thought for a bit. "Well nothing really. I've met some really good friends. Oh and there was this one mare I met that kept talking about lotuses and what they meant and stuff. She had these big lotus flowers on her and she saw my flower petals so she started talking about it. It was pretty interesting, little confusing but interesting." He shrugged a bit and dropped her hair. "I don't really have any good stories."

Another mare with lotus flowers? That caught Karma's interest much more than the discussion of lady friends had. His ears perked up and he turned to face more towards his brother as he was speaking.
"Another mare with lotuses..." he mused aloud while thinking about what it might mean. "Have you told Mother about this? She might have some relative that we don't know about. The lotus is a rare flower to find on a soquili." The only soquili he had ever seen decorated with the lotus blossom were those that belonged in his family. He supposed it could be coincidence that another would appear with similar markings... but it could as easily be something deeper instead.
