This was drawn off of a photograph on Corbis, and I was trying a new sort of style with pencil. It was drawn for a project for honors english, so it was more for fun, but I am still happy it turned out nice. Constructive criticism and comments are welcome! biggrin

That's a very nice drawing. I like the style it's in. Perfect for an english, project definately. My only gripe is that lack of muscle on her left leg. the one that has the foot on the floor. It seems a bit too thin, and the same thing with the shoulder.

Awesome style and skill. 3nodding

Thanks! I'll go fix that now so I don't forget. The writting for it is really not that good, so the picture has got to be great, lol.

Nivalis2: beautiful shading and lighting. Even though it's monotone, the lighting and shading you applied makes the drawing looks warm.
Very nice job on the details, such as the hair and clothes wrinkles.
I'm not sure how she looked originally, but to me, she seems to be too skinny. And the leg that's touching the ground, it seems short compare to the stretching one.
Anyway, still a good job on it, it should make a nice illustration for your project. =)

Thanks for the coment. I turned in the project yesturday, but before I did I had the chance to thicken some parts up a bit. Some edges one the photograph were not even there, so it was tricky for me to make it look right; good learning project though. I did notice the leg being longer (it is quite a bit after all) but was affraid to redue that part because of the smudging. Next time I'm using a ruler for that sort of stuff, lol. The teacher that it was for looked surprised at it though, which is a good sign this was extra credit oppertunity, lol.

Did you get a good grade.....?

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Computer problems... Anyway though, the teacher's comment was "Great writing and Beautiful Picture! 50/5" I think she meant 50/50 because this was no 5 point assignment. That would be silly since other people made movies which take forever.

Yeah. I love when they make us do art projects for english. It really is helpful for my grade. They say they don't grade you by skill, but they most certainly do. XD

I like art projects in other classes than art because it gives me more room to explore, lol. My English teacher does not grade on skill, but when it comes to movies that is another story. My friends and I have done two movies for that class and we got like 20 points of extra credit with both of them combined. She was so sad when our little movie group got split up in classes because now we don't have a chance to top our "The Real World" movie from our satire project, lol.

Thanks!

Wow! I posted this nearly a year ago! I'm happy to see that the guild is picking up a little bit again.

It looks excellent, but there are some problems with anatomy; first of all the forehead is a bit too elongated, and also the leg on the ground is much too short. The hand holding the pole looks like it's holding both the leg and the pole, and shoulder looks a bit awkward. Otherwise it's good; the shading and the hand stretching out look great.
