Have you ever done anything professional? If so what? I've had a couple of professional jobs and stuff so I just wanted to hear about other people and stuff.

One, a few weeks ago actually. I did show called "Christmas Wishes" with a small New York production company that uses the theatre I work at to test shows some of there shows. Those shows sometimes go off-Broadway or to London.
Thought those are not really professional, the one I did for them was at a different venue so technically it was. Basically it was a mix of classic Christmas songs and some originals written by Kevin Hammonds put together with a little bit of a story line.

Was it well received?

Kinda. We only played a few shows, but I think it would have gotten a better response if we did it a little closer to the holidays. We did it RIGHT after Thanksgiving. The place we did the show at has asked the company for one show at the end of every month through June, but since the end of this month is so busy for Kevin and it's hard for him to get a bus from the city to here, they didn't have one. So Christmas Wishes had to be last month. People really weren't in the spirit yet.
Right after that, I worked as a costume changer for one of there test run shows... one that is actually going to be coming off Broadway soon. Hopefully by NEXT summer (as in Summer 2006). I can't wait, cus then I get to go visit them and I will finally have some backstage connections! lol
Baby steps. I told Kevin "You know, one day, when you win the Tony I can proudly say that I touched that man's a** while dressing him up like a Radio City Rockette."

I'm 17 and, sadly, stuck in East Texas, so the option of professional theatre work doesn't come up too much.

Traverser I'm 17 and, sadly, stuck in East Texas, so the option of professional theatre work doesn't come up too much. Really? Sometimes I see auditions posted in ads and such that are done in Texas. I mean, there are like one every three months or so. But they're still there. If I ever see one now I'll be sure to tell you about it.

Hmm, well, thank you. Though, I'm busy doing contest plays here at school most of the time. Hopefully soon enough I'll get my chance to try professtional acting.

kellyuwga What is "professional"...sorry if i'm not up on the clear definition. Not community theatre or plays at school. So for instance Movies, Commercials, broadway, off-broadway, touring, plays where you can earn equity points, stuff like that.

I haven't done a whole lot, but I'm proud of what I have done.
I've done a small commercial locally, but I wouldn't call that professional.
The only professional thing that I've done was work at a Summer Stock theatre in the Southwest corner of Michigan between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek this last summer. I was the Master Carpenter, so I didn't get to act a whole lot, which is what I want to do.
But, it was valuable knowledge about the field that I want to go into someday.

I did that for a summer once too. My friend was directing the show so he suggested I get my a** all the way to North Carolina and tech it for only a couple hundred a week. But it was a fun and good experience.
