It was a late hour of night when they had made their way into the small encampment of Taipa's teepee. Most of anyone who was there would have been asleep. Vohamanah knew that everyone might not be there anyways. Sometimes his parents ventured to land of his family for a few days or week at a time. Sometimes his siblings would come and go.

Vohamanah had led her at least several yards north and just past it, so that they could slip in without anyone see them approach. It might have been sneaky, but all the while, he had been concerned about how she would take that kind of social gathering. He started to think if she met them one at a time before a large grouping. Maybe that would be better. Then, if she were comfortable with them all. She would be willing for a big family gathering.

Then, he turned around to her. "Ok. We can stay out here and sleep under the stars if you like." After that option, his eye sparkled, and he had a grin he couldn't hide. "Or, we could go inside the teepee. It is big enough for two soquili inside."

He paused then. He walked as quietly as he could up to the teepee. He sniffed around to see if he could smell any of his family. ~huh...~ Noone was there right away anyhow. He returned to her. Waiting to see what she wanted...

Sohalia felt more weary than she had in a long time; not just from the actual physical journey but from the thoughts that had constantly swirled around her mind as they had travelled. She never usually worried so much about meeting new Soquili's but she had a small inkling that being evasive about herself might not hold water for too long around Vohamanah's actual family. She hoped they wouldn't pry, and that he wouldn't leave her alone with them.

'Outside..' she replied when he questioned her about her preference in sleeping arrangements on their eventual arrival. Outside meant she could flee if she so wished to, and she wouldn't feel so hemmed in. The weather had stayed pleasant and she'd yet to pass any amount of time in one of the two-leggers dwellings, so she wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea of doing so in a completely new situation.

'Anyone around?' she asked, attempting to sound casual as she asked.

Vohamanah nodded as he turned back around to walk to her. "Ok. Outside it is then. Summer air is nice for sleeping under."

Then, he was watching some trees dance in the evening breeze, and he looked at the stars. He looked at her out the corner of his eyes. "Well, I don't really smell anyone here besides Taipa. I'm guessing my mother and father went off to visit my grandparents. They go out there sometimes. Mostly my brother Balgen and myself stay here on a regular basis. If you can even count me.. since I am by the norm off flying around seeing what's going on in the world."

He did feel slightly relieved. His lovely mare could have a chance to feel acquainted to the area. He just wasn't sure how she'd react when one of them returned. Hopefully, she wouldn't stonewall too much.

He smiled and turned his head to her, gently brushing his nuzzle against the side of her face.

'Taipa?' Sohalia tried to remember if he had mentioned the name before, and whose name it was. The time they had spent together before the journey here seemed so long ago, the details blurring, only leaving a feeling that was not wholly unpleasant.
She felt guarded again, on edge, almost jumping when his face touched the side of hers.

'Sorry..' she said, quietly checking and trying to compose herself. She looked around, checking the area.
'Where did you wish to rest for the night then?'
She didn't want to sleep in the teepee, but she would prefer to shelter under the canopy of trees. There was out in the open..and then there was right out in the open, and the press of solid bark against a back was a comfort during the night.

Vohamanah stepped back a little when he saw she was flinching again. He supposed maybe the newness had her a little too preoccupied with opening herself up.

Then he walked around the site of the teepee, a few troughs, and some wooden stakes with feedbags hanging from them. He stood at the side of the river. He looked around. He wondered if it bothered her they were on a plain.

He looked back at her, his wings fluttering a little. "We could lay over here. On the opposite side of the teepee. When the sun comes up, the teepee will cast a small shadow to keep us cool. Once the sun is high up though, we would have to maybe take a walk to the forest. It can get pretty warm out here."

He then looked to her, watching. Then, he smiled. He gently then said to her, "It's ok Sohalia. For now it's just us. We'll worry about the others whenever they return. I'm really happy you came with me."

He didn't answer her in regards to the name she had queried; maybe it wasn't important? She followed him wordlessly, her tail dragging behind her on the ground, not bothering to lift it up as all she really wanted to do was rest.

Her nose wrinkled a little as she looked thoughtfully at the structure. The scent of others was heavy around it, including that of two-leggers. She was having to put every ounce of trust that she was able to even feel into Vohamanah as she was close to bolting. Everything was become overwhelming.
She looked at the stallion when he spoke, focusing on him. It was easy if she did that, he was pleasant and sweet.

'We should lay down for a bit.' she suggested to him. Before I feel like running away.. the thought drifted into her mind, and she swiftly pushed it to the back of her mind, arranging her face in a relaxed look for him.

Vohamanah had been paying the utmost attention to her every move and expression. He then seeing her come along and settle. He sat down himself. He tucked his legs down, and pressed his wings flat down at his sides. He laid his head forward to feel the grass beneath his chin.

He had caught only the slightest glance of her nose wrinkling. He then opened his eyes to look at her. "Yeah. We live with a two legger. She brings apples a lot and oats. She really is a nice lady. According to my mother, she was a widow when my mother came here. Her and my mother shared a quiet mutual existance here.. Well, that was until we all showed up."

He smiled and chuckled a little. He held his siblings in the highest esteem. Well.. the two he knew. He often forgot about the basket that had been stolen in the night.

Sohalia listened to Vohamanah before replying in as tactful a manner as she could.
'Well..I am afraid I've not been around two-leggers, nor have I ever felt the need to. I do not really trust them. Whilst I am sure you have never had any reason to think anything else, I will only stay here because you wish it.'

She looked around from where they laying, her ears pricked for any new sounds as she scanned their surroundings.
'Do you suppose that your family will return soon?'
Her eyes had become heavy, and she really needed sleep, but she did not wish to be caught napping when they came back.

Vohamanah was settling rather quickly. When she came to sit beside him, he kept inching closer and closer to her. When he was close enough, he laid his head around the back of her neck and across her shoulders.

"Well, that makes sense. I'm sure that feeling is consistent with the other things I've learned about you. I feel honored that you would like me enough to be willing to tolerate it."

He smiled and rubbed the side of his face into her shoulders. Her pelt really did feel quite nice. She had a very nice fragrance. Had he inherited this naturally forward manner from his father? He couldn't be sure. Either way, he wasn't feeling out of line or out of place by doing it. The more he did it; those actions made him want to be closer to her still.

Her question broke him out of his sleepy daze. "Oh, of course. My mother doesn't usually stay away too long. I think she worries about the two legger since that lady doesn't have a mate or children. It's kind of weird.. that my mother and her human have this.. parent child relationship. I didn't know horses could relate to humans like that. I, myself, don't spend an overly lot of time with her. My brother comes alot. He is likely off finding himself a new girlfriend. That's usually where he's at..."

Sohalia stiffened as Vohamanah got closer, wondering where exactly he was going to rest. His head on her withers was remarkably comforting, and she slowly relaxed, her ears coming forwards again from when they had lain flat. Her eyes closed as he brushed against her, and she let out a small noise of contentment, that startled her a little.

From the stallion's breathing, she could tell that Vohamanah was getting relaxed, even sleepy. He was more so than her, and she knew that if he did fall asleep, she would have to force herself to stay awake. She was in a strange area, and she was laying, a vulnerable position to leave oneself in.

She listened to him speak, musing on how different his family was to her..well she didn't exactly have a family. She'd often heard that herdmates, friends, considered one another an extention of their family when they felt close enough. In her case that would mean that Vohamanah was her family; he was the closest thing to a friend in her whole life, and the only one she'd been open with.

'That is slightly strange. But I am not really one to be in a position to judge. I think I only have one friend in the world.' she admitted.

'What is your mother like?'

Vohamanah nodded and smiled hazily. "Yeah. I guess it is nice for her to have found a special friend even if it is one of them human types.

Then, listening to her question about his mother. "When you meet her, you will see. She is the very visage of a beautiful peach tulip, freshly opened after spring's arrival. She is extremely immaculate with her appearance. She always smells like a bed of flowers. She is also much quieter than I. In fact, she mostly only talks if she really has something to say or answering a question."

He then thought to himself. ~Strange... Guess Sohalia is a little like that as well~

He went on. "Her mane and tail trail around very long like yours does. She has a horn and wings like mine. She's always really calm. She is almost never cross about anything."

He started to sniff gently at Sohalia again. He was so glad she came. With her here like this with him, those stirring feelings he had on their journey there. They were returning; only it felt driving.

~Only one friend? Ever? Is... that me?~

She supposed it was only right that he should be effusive in his praise for his mother, she just hoped he wouldn't turn into a mummy's boy when she did finally show up.

Sohalia liked the sound of her personality though, she would probably find it easier to talk to her, in a polite, but evasive way though. She wondered if she would ever trust anyone beyond Vohamanah, although that was still tenuous right now, she hoped that one day she would trust him fully. The mare supposed that if it was how it was, then that was how it would be. Trusting one was better than trusting no one.

'So your colouring is from your mother then?' she asked. It must be, because besides the horn and wings, he was nothing like the peach tulip he described. She tilted her head as he sniffed at her.
'Do I smell funny or something?' she queried, moving so that she could look at him properly.

Vohamanah moved his eyes upwards to look towards her. "Not funny. Extremely pleasant. I love your smell."

His ears stood up folding face front towards her. His eyes glistened.

"Oh. Well.. I think I probably am a mix of both my parents. The purple in me is from my father. But, my golden hair, horn, and wings are all from my mother. My father is still around too. He loves my mother with his life. They probably went to visit his family. He comes from a strong family background as well. My grandmother belongs to a fleeting herd. There are just so many soquili who all are caretaken by one human. I haven't even ever been that deep inside their herd. When I go to visit, I meet my grandmother by the river."

He felt her move and then saw her eyes. "Sorry. Please don't move away."

Though in the dark of night, the vision of her eyes looking back at him. He could feel his heart be smote. Then he remembered that he still had trust earning to do. Maybe she thought he was going to do something to her that she wasn't ready for.

'Everything of mine is from my mother..' Sohalia said. It was a slight fib, her horn and hooves weren't the colour of her mother's, but confessing that the silver was from her father might lead to further questions that she felt it was too soon to answer. Maybe another day, but not quite yet was she ready to fully dissect all her family woes.

'You have a striking family then, I imagine I will look like a shadow to them all..' she quipped a little drily.
'I was merely moving to look at you,' she corrected him.
'I find it polite to occasionally look at the person I am talking to. Even if I am more comfortable with you than with anyone else I know of.'

She yawned suddenly, her white teeth showing in the gloom surrounding them, even though she had moved swiftly to cover her mouth behind a bent knee.
'Excuse me..' she said, her voice drowsy. She longed for sleep, but all her natural instincts wouldn't allow her to. Not here. Her body had other ideas, and she found herself nestling against Vohamanah, as she tried to keep her eyes open.
'Tell me...what do you hope for?'

Vohamanah then let out a small yawn. "Oh, my sister and father both have a very dark purple pelt.. with some black. My mother is the brightest of us all. I got my hair from her. My mother accepts everyone. I'm sure you'll be no exception."

The feeling of her nestling against him made him feel stirred. He lazily and gently nibbed at the end of her ear. Then, he gave into the tired that was pulling to him. "I hope... I don't know. I don't usually think about what I hope for."

He tried to think about it; though he was having a hard time thinking about anything. Between the inner stirrings caused by her scent and her closeness and then how long they'd been traveling. He was really not even in his rational mind anymore. "I hope... Sohalia ... will be happy. I hope... that your heart will find a healing for the things that have hurt it for so long."

Though off in the forest, his mother had began her journey back home. She hadn't asked Mythril to come with her this time. She knew it was good for him to have his own time with his family. She could understand this fully now that her own foals were grown up. In her mind, she thought of her sons. Both she hadn't seen in a while.
