Yes, but ever since the new series started, they've been making them hardbacks & in the US they cost about $13. I've been reading them ever since the Target books days & they were paperbacks. No way am I paying that much. I want them back to being softcover, & I want past Doctors again.

I just completed my Tenth Doctor novels collection yesterday with Snowglobe 7!

I also have the first two Ninth Doctor books, and will now be concentrating on those. Once I have them, I'll start on Torchwood.

Can anyone recommend a good Doctor Who book? I've only seen the first season of the new Doctor Who (and the two seasons of Torchwood), so preferably a book that takes places in that season or one that doesn't contain spoilers nor require any extra knowledge outside what I've seen.

Please help me find good books 3nodding

Well the best 9/rose book that I have read would be either the clockwise man or only human... however I would recommend Feast of the drowned... It is by far the best dr. who novel I have read but it is 10/rose...

The stone rose is also quite good

I've read a fair few old Target ones, and they're quite good, nothing wrong with them, and I was introduced to Harry Sullivan, Leela, Sarah Jane and K9. I haven't read any of the New Who books, but I plan on collecting some next-time I get off my arse.

I might be getting ahead of myself...but the December batch of books sound like they might actually be interesting.

The Story of Martha is, by dint of it's subject matter, going to feel less disposable than most of the Welsh Series' tie-in novels. And its author, Dan Abnett, often gets things very right (like in his Legion of Superheroes comics which I've recently been reading). Though he also sometimes gets things very wrong (like in his Legion of Superheroes comics which I've recently been reading).

The big whoop though is the return to Who novels of Lance Parkin, one of the most important of the New Adventures/Eighth Doctor Adventures-era writers. Unlike most novelists writing for the current range, Parkin has been vocal on other boards in saying that the kiddie-friendly restrictions on the books nowadays needn't stop them from being good novels. He really thinks he can make the things work. It's going to be interesting seeing if he does.

He's also been blogging about it in considerable detail...

I am so happy the new books finally maid it to my area. Having them shipped was getting expensive. They are good short reads but, if you are not building or finishing a collection try to get them used or brow them first. $12 can be a bit much when they barely go over 230 pages.
I recommend The Doctor Trap, Peacemaker, or Beautiful Chaos. Thou if you do choose Beautiful Chaos It mite be I good Idea to have seen The Masque of Mandragora.

When I was in the service I started collecting the Targets and have most of the episode novelizations. A great way to get cannon if you have missed out on those old stories.. I recomend used book shops as they are inexpensive and your money will get you more adventures.

I have 18 of the 9th/10th Doctor books, will try to get the rest, usually on Amazon. I also have The Forgotten graphic novel and the first 6 of the new Doctor Who comics. Anybody find the Doctor Who novel "Human Nature" cheaper than $18?
