 "The Shadowstalker has earned himself a warm meal for the night. The Shadowstalker lunges downwards, the wind screaming through The Shadowstalkers wings, and with a sickening crunch, grabs a mysterious Skurri from the boughs of the tree. Is the Skurri a companion? The Shadowstalker does not know, nor does he care."
Shadowstalker slurped his tasty meal down, not caring if he was heard. To be perfectly honest, Shadowstalker NEVER cared if he was ever heard. He was deadly enough monologuing the whole time. Silence? Shadowstalker could be a unstoppable force. With a final slurp, Shadowstalker finished his meal.
"The Shadowstalker yearns for danger, in this dreadful black night."

Fable made a few shaky steps on the tree limb she was perched on. She gulped as she looked down. Why did she climb up so high? With a deep breath she took a leap from her perch and fluttered for a few feet before she began to lose altitude. Worried she tried to flap her wings harder and at first it seemed to work but began to tire and she roughly hit a branch. With a bad footing Fable lost her balance and began a painful (and noisy) decent to the ground. With a thud she hit the ground. Ruffled and embarrassed Fable gathered herself together and looked up. Her eyes widened, looking up she saw a formidable looking sentinel who's feathers were as dark as the sky. Gulping she said with a shaky voice, "Who are you?"

"The Shadowstalker has noticed a small flailing fledgling falling past. What does this mean? The Shadowstalker is intrigued," Shadowstalker watched as the fledgling hit the ground, and flew down beside her, "The Shadowstalker is also unaware that fledglings bounce."
"The ground is no place for you, youngling. The Shadowstalker doesn't even know the many dangers that could attack us at this very moment. Fly away youngling, and live another day."
Shadowstalker turned from the fledgling and sighed softly.
"The Shadowstalker wonders if the youngling can fly back up to safety. The Shadowstalker can protect the youngling as long as The Shadowstalker can. The youngling must fly to safety."

Afraid to be left alone Fable grabbed at one of Shadowstalker's feathers with her beak. "But I can't fly, well at least not very well."
She thought to herself that this adult seemed to be a little odd but he looked so strong and heroic.
"Maybe...well...do you..." she gulped, she always felt so awkward with strangers. She took a deep breath and blurted out, "I want to be the best flier ever! Will you help me...Mr.Shadowstalker, sir?"

"The Shadowstalker peers down at the Fledgling, unaccustomed to another's touch. The Shadowstalker tries to pry the youngling from The Shadowstalker's feathers, but the youngling has a death grip. The Shadowstalker is getting uncomfortable,"
The Shadowstalker mumbled the last part, trying to move away from the young Fledgling.
After the younglings outburst, Shadowstalker slumped a tad, but straightened up at the "Sir".
"Yes, I am The Shadowstalker. THE Shadowstalker," He emphasized "THE" broodily, "And you will fly youngling. But perhaps tonight is not the best night to try your young wings. The Shadowstalker fears nothing, but The Shadowstalker knows that tender young Sentinel flesh is much desirable to predators. The Shadowstalker urges the Fledgling to tell The Shadowstalker what she knows of flying."
"The Shadowstalker would just like the fledgling to achieve liftoff, and The Shadowstalker can worry about making you the best flier ever at a later point in time."

Puffing up at the comments Fable said with a little hurt tone, "I can lift off...sort of. I can climb too."
She stretched her wings as far as they could go, "See my flying feathers are almost fully grown!" Shuffling a little closer to the black sentinel she felt a little more sure of herself. "I may be young but the moon is full and clear and if I go home momma is just going to teach me about being a minder...and thats boring."
With all the cuteness she could gather she gave Shadowstalker the sweetest look she could muster, "Pleeeaaassse."

"The Shadowstalker will not be swayed by your attempt at being cute. The Shadowstalker does applaud your use of the skills you have been given, though The Shadowstalker wonders if perhaps the fledgling should go home to momma."
Shadowstalker ruffled his feathers, pinning the fledgling with his golden stare.
"The Shadowstalker asks the fledgling to try to lift off. Perhaps there are predators coming to get you. The Shadowstalker can take care of himself."
The Shadowstalker was a conniving b*****d.

Fable smiled slightly, two can play this game. "But Mr. Shadowstalker sir, I'm lost, I'm still learning the forest and you wouldn't leave me all alone out here would you?"
She looked dejectedly at him as she made some half hearted lift offs.

"The Shadowstalker would not leave a helpless victim alone, but you, little feldgling, have told The Shadowstalker that you are fully capable of protecting yourself. Flap harder," Shadowstalker said gruffly, watching the fledglings feeble attempts at taking off.
"The Shadowstalker will show you what you should do," wiggling his tail feathers to balance himself, Shadowstalker started to monologue again, "Move your feathers, get them all in line, and push off."
Shadowstalker lifted off smoothly, then fluttered down to land beside the Fledgling.
"The Shadowstalker urges you to try. The Shadowstalker is not kidding about the predators. The Shadowstalker thinks its best if you tried a little harder."

Flapping her wings hard Fable mimicked the movements the Shadowstalker had made. With dust flying from beneath her, she lifted off the ground and perched on a low branch. She smiled and fluffed her feathers.
"Wow that worked much better then the way I was doing it! Am I high enough now to be safe from the perdertors....pardators...um...things?

"The Shadowstalker shakes his head gravely. Fledgling, predators can get you at any height if they think you're tasty enough. And The Shadowstalker believes you shall be mighty tasty."
Jumping from branch to branch, Shadowstalker stopped, many feet above the fledgling.
"The Shadowstalker urges you to make haste. The Shadowstalker must get you to safety."

Fable hopped up, following the path the Shadowstalker had taken. She liked him.
"Why would I be tasty? I'm covered in feathers, and I know they don't taste good when I clean them."
She slipped on one of the branches and she clumsily recovered. Looking down she noticed they had gained quite a bit of distance from the ground.
