Unexpected meeting

The clock struck twelve. Evangeline’s eye lid flutter opened.

“Darn that clock.” Evangeline cursed under her breath. Her stomach growled. “Argh. Shouldn’t have missed dinner” She said as she got up and wore her cloak over her sleeping gown. Getting her eyes accustomed to the dark, Evangeline made her way down to the kitchen slowly.

“Where are the cakes?” Evangeline thought to herself as she fumbled around the kitchen.

A soft sound was heard. Evangeline jumped and in a moment of panic, Evangeline turned and tried to run out of the kitchen forgetting that she was holding on to the table cloth.

CLANK!!

The plate fell to the floor as the table cloth was being pulled away. Evangeline turned and a scream was heard.

“AZASAEL!! WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING UNDER THE TABLE??”

Needless to say, the mischievous redhead was on one of her Midnight Supper Rounds, or so she called it. Said mischievous red haired imp was now crouching under the dining table, a little lamp by her side as she chomped on a piece of strawberry cake with chocolate icing while poring over a fairytale.

"Gah, this faiwytale shucks." She said with her mouth full. Chocolate icing stained her mouth, creating a little brown mustache on her upper lip. Azasael looked up like a deer trapped in headlights.

"Oh, hi Efangewine. Want shome cakey?" She held out the dish, where a large block of cake lay amidst scattered crumbs and a silver fork. Her stomach growled and she stuffed a chocolate bar into her already full mouth.

Evangeline’s mouth fell open and she stared in shock.

Composing herself, Evangeline cleared her throat.

“Er…Cake sounds good.” Evangeline said as she sat beside Azasael and took a piece.

“Mmhm. This taste good.” Evangeline said as she took a bite out of the piece.

Happily munching on her cake, Evangeline looked at Azasael and laughed.

“Azasael, there’s something on your mouth”

Azasael wiped the stains away with the tablecloth and winced.

"The cooks might get mad if we make anymore noise. Especially tomorrow when they see this stain." She grinned and started on some bacon and eggs, which happened to be the next day's breakfast.

"I rarely see big brother Xoul anymore." She sighed wistfully. "He's always so busy that he never has time to play with us when we were younger."

“Azasael…you just had cake” Evangeline bluntly pointed out as Azasael munched on the bacon.

“And the table cloth…I give up” Evangeline said playfully as she placed both her hands up and surrendered.

Evangeline sighed. “Yeah. Xoul is…missing lately. I don’t even see him around anymore.”

[Xoul Leonheart]

Without sound nor warning,a flash of light appeared infront of Azasael and Evangeline. The light faded and Xoul was seen after. He took a slice of bread and looked at them both, smilling.

"Don't be naughty now okay?"

With that, he left in a flash of light.

Azasael stared at the empty spot where Xoul had stood before. Her mouth dropped open, revealing...er...bits of mashed up food before she shut it again and chewed thoughtfully.

"Yes, big brother." She murmured, then nibbled a muffin. "He could've talked to us more. But at least he was there." Suddenly she straightened up and banged her head on the tabletop.

"OW!" she squeaked. "Fecking table."

Evangeline winced at the sound. "Are you okay?" she asked as she slowly stood up.

“And since when was I naughty?” Evangeline muttered under her breath as she extended a hand to Azasael.

“It’s getting late and I’m pretty sure the rest still want to see their breakfast tomorrow” Evangeline said, smiling at Azasael.

Azasael nodded and hurriedly stuffed more cakes into her mouth within five seconds. Where she found the space to do so beats me. She accepted the hand Evangeline offered and stood up to follow her out of the kitchens.

"No matter. They'll be able to see it, but they might not be able to taste it." She chuckled mischievously.

Evangeline rolled her eyes and laugh.

"Well, if an angry mob of people comes after you, don't say that you know me." Evangeline shouted as she ran away, eyes twinkling.  

[Azasael Leonheart]

"Hey!" Azasael yelled after a moments reflection, but her reaction was a few seconds too slow. "Ah well," she sighed and headed back to her own bedroom up the stairs in the castle.

Evangeline turned. "Hey Azasael! I th-" Her voice fadded.

"Azasael?" She called out.

"Where is that girl?" Evangeline mumbled as she walked around, keeping a look out for Azasael.

A rustle of leaves could be heard. “Azasael? Is that you?” Evangeline asked as she walked closer to where the sound came from.

She dived under the covers of her bed and sighed happily. The grandfather clock somewhere downstairs chimed loudly. Ah, one o' clock in the morning and her stomach was full. Azasael blinked sleepily and yawned, tired out from her midnight excursion. Suddenly she sat up, eyes wide.

"Awwh man! Bathroom!" she raced outside, colliding with the wall.

THUMP!!! She fell to the floor and groaned.

"Azasael?" Evangeline called out again.

Silence.

Evangeline slowly backed away. Without wanting to know what lies behind, she turned and fled.

Before Evangeline rose a red glow, almost like the aura of a lit torch.This aura was not a result of torch nor flame but an aura of dark magic emanating off of a humanoid vessel, It was surely not of mankind.

The dark figure proceeded forward ever so slowly as if, hunting someone...

he notices the girl backing away in fear and raises his staff and lets out a "shh, don't run" he proceeds to ensnare her in a paralyzing web of magic.

"We can't have you interfering with my duties" he said in a suspicious tone." where is Lord Xoul?" he glares down at her with piercing red embers" he must be here somewhere.."

He begins do walk down the hall when he runs into Azasael.

"who are you?" he asks menacingly.
