Welcome to the Modern Greek General Discussion! This is where we discuss everything related to the Modern Greek language, including, but not limited to:
-asking specific questions about Modern Greek vocabulary and grammar (people who can speak Greek fluently can help answer others' questions) -recommendations for Modern Greek dictionaries, websites, etc -and everything else about the beautiful langauge of Greece! 3nodding
Please note that although speaking in Greek is allowed here, it is not mandatory.

I'd like to learn to read the characters if anyone here can teach me. sweatdrop Unfortunately I don't think there's anyone here learning Greek crying and it'll be a few years before I start, too...

Well, i do know the characters...i dont think i can type them on computer, but i can basically sum up the alpabet if you would like. biggrin

And pick Greek biggrin The rest should be obvious. xd I hope you have windows XP Lol... Well anyway. ^^ Can you teach me to read the characters? biggrin A list of what they mean and how to pronounce would be good if you can. ^_^

Well, i dont know how they are pronounced, but the basic alpahabet is.. Α α - Alpha Π π - PiΒ β - Beta Ρ ρ Rho Γ γ - Gamma Σ σ - Sigma Δ δ - Delta Τ τ - Tau Ε ε - Epsilon Υ υ - Upsilon Ζ ζ - Zeta Φ φ - Phi Η η - Eta Χ χ - Chi Θ θ - Theta Ψ ψ - Psi Ι ι - Iota Ω ω - Omega Κ κ - Kappa Λ λ - Lambda Μ μ -Mu Ν ν - Nu Ξ ξ - Xi Ο ο - Omicron Well, i sure hope this helps you, sorry everything is out of order, i tried to make columns.

One fo my favorite phrases is, "A Koma Ke I Partheli Kachika Ye Lie Mesena." It means, "Even the multi-colored goat is laughing at you."
